      Just look at the app. The tesla shows its position on the app, so instead of using the phones gps, to know your location, just add an offset to the Teslas coordinates. Google maps has an API, so you just pull the coordinates from the car and increase the lat lon the decimal digits by a fixed amount, and this will work from everywhere. Same thing was done to hacked Pokemon Go versions.

      @@WhatTheHellMang Yes, but the car position is already shown on the phone app, so it could be used from anywhere. I assume, the geo fencing is controlled in the app. and aTesla in Europe is the same. Or is it hard coded in the tesla firmware, so it knows that it is in Europe, restrictions apply?

    • @Tore_Lund
      @Tore_Lund 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Mal Wayne I'm really not an app programmer, But a good starting point would be to get the .apk install file for the android version of the app and then run it in an emulator. Then it could be sniffed out what kind of info the app needs to decide how far the car can go of from how far away. Possible, someone else is already hacking this, so just google around. I'm sure there already are several Tesla apps tweaked in different ways already.

Surely this makes sense? It's not like the laws will never change, surely it's simply airing on the side of caution and ends up being a wise choice with all of our safety in mind...?

    I have a real petrol head friend who i was telling 15yrs ago that cars in the near future will be electric and drive themselves (i'm no visionary as it was inevitable) and that they would no longer be a thing to enjoy driving manually. They would be fully autonomous, like a multi media centre that travels, tv, video games, internet etc. You can sit back as if you were in your own living room/salon whilst travelling to your destination. This is probably within the next 20yrs. Then when the oil runs out you will only be able to drive a combustible engine car with a club at a race track. He was a bit sad of the fact but i must admit, electric opens up a whole new exciting avenue. This video reminded me of our conversation as i'm seeing it start to happen.

The new rules will be, no human is allowed to drive or at first, go above a certain speed, eg: 60km/hr. Watch iRobot and you'll understand where we are going. 0:30 What about faking your GPS location? I dont know how to do it on iPhones but on Andriod, you just need an app and to enable developer options

      It's not about GPS, You have to be in range of Bluetooth to make it work.

    I can't find how to get to the smart summon functionality in the Tesla app. I've just got 2019.40.50.5 and it isn't there either. Am I missing something? I've got a performance M3 with FSD

      Yeah, my Model 3 makes those high pitched squealing noises and clanking sounds when I summon it into and out of our garage daily. It also fairly groans, squeals and makes grinding sounds whenever we auto park too.

    This is good. It shows that the function was designed to be useful but the rules make it broken. I'll keep the secret. I think everyone should have full access to the functions no matter where they are.

    • @VoxelLoop
      @VoxelLoop 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm in the UK and did some quick tests at night with mine and it was pretty fast too. In a straight line when it was confident it'd do 4-5 mph, in corners, it was 100% faster than he's seeing though. Maybe his cameras are dirty considering it said it's slowing down due to visibility a lot. :)
