@@splurjay I suppose that's one way of looking at it. I personally don't see the "Model" name being necessary to refer to a vehicle as a model, for instance, the Civic is one of Honda's best-selling models. I wouldn't think twice about that sentence. In addition, this video also implies that they are reviewing every Tesla, when in fact, they are not. The title of the video could be clarified by referring to a review of the Tesla "Model" series, which would be accurate, though admittedly a bit awkward. I do, however, understand that the wording is open to interpretation, and therefore, the interpretation that you provide is not incorrect.
So true about the range. Going from my 2014 model s to 2020 p3d is night and day. Only 130 miles more, but it's life changing. Would be so cool to have a new model s with 400 miles!
I currently drive to Chevy volt while I save up for the cyber truck but I would be curious to know what you think about plug-in hybrid electric vehicles suppose there was one with 80+ miles of range the price of the vehicle itself would be lower and it would allow someone to compete with Tesla I think this would especially be good in a pick up truck considering I used trucks for work.
By the way will prowse big fan! I would love to see you do a video on the ego nexus power station I’m currently doing small experiments with it but I don’t have your level of expertise. Please feel free to glance at my two videos and maybe a it will provide inspiration. (PS look at the comments as well)
Only have a Model X, and I love it!! Range, power, upgrade-ability, Autopilot, carrying capacity are all my priorities. My wife loves that I can lower it to allow her easy access.
i am so glad you like the Model S. I love it too. I do like the 2 screens and the comfort and the looks of it. Mine is a little older, but people still think that it is new.
I have driven the S, 3, and X and all things considered I like the 3 the most. One day, I will try the Y and I am really looking forward to the CyberTruck.
@@droptopOX could you briefly explain how you got that pricing? I’m looking into a model 3 with “all the perks” but when I go on the Tesla website they give me some outrageous monthly finance pricing. Disclaimer: I haven’t added any personal info/credit info to see if this number would adjust. Right now they gave me a generic estimate of $840.
This was a super helpful video!! I just bought a model S (getting delivery in a couple days) and have been SO up in the air on which model to go with but this gave me some peace of mind that I made the right decision so thank you for that!!
The problem with the CyberTruck is that it's too polarizing, you either totally hate it or totally love it and nobody in-between. The other models and especially the S and Y have mass appeal and that's why they are winners above all else.
@@BrianLampright913 I think the polarizing nature of the CT is a positive, because it generates tons of free buzz. And enough people love it that Tesla will be selling all they can make for several years. And as competitors try to catch up, soon that appearance will be associated with its functional superiority.
MrXtraconservative from a marketing perspective it’s a huge win no doubt. And the low price point as well...by far the best “value” in the lineup. I have a hard to believing tesla can actually offer them at the prices they have stated. We’ll see.
@@BrianLampright913 Wait until you see one (or a Rivian) stopped at a traffic light next to a 20 year-old diesel 'BOX-O-ROCKS' rattling away and then spewing black clouds of smoke as they each pull away. That diesel driver is gonna feel like Fred Flintstone.
Great video! Love seeing you and your wife interact, and hearing each of your opinions and feedback about each of the cars was very interesting! Thanks for sharing.
Nothing will ever replace the S. The 3 and Y are newer and more simplistic but they don't have the executive look the S has. The S looks luxury, sporty and classic at the same time. Also, the 3 and Y will be a dime a dozen and I don't want to walk up to ever 3 in the mall parking lot lol.
@@ethantoone1962 it's also the oldst car by far. plus it's all about the tech you care about. for me, things like the 3 and Y coming with CCS out of the box, the newest MCU, USB-C, landscape screens for content consumption, those are the pieces of tech i care about, not the air suspension or the pinnacle dash of the S and X
Domenico Lamberti I did a double-take when I saw that you said CCS out of the box, until I remembered that Tesla actually uses charging standards in the European market. Part of me wishes they did here as well, not so that they can use third-party EV stations, but so that third-party EVs can use the highly abundant superchargers. My ranting aside, with regards to your statement about tech, I totally agree. I personally prefer the portrait display and fancy gadgets (the Model X is my dream car), but I’m sick of people arguing that there’s a definitive feature set that’s universally “better.” You prefer the Model Y; go for it. I got a lot of comments that the BlackBerry I was using a few years ago was trash, but it was the best option for me at the time. Extremely liked this video - your wife is best reviewer of cars. I found her to be so credible and honestly sold me on the 3 + Y. I’d recommend letting her review more cars !!!
Dude, let her speak. Stop cutting her off, she's visibly frustrated every time you do it and you are already hitting way out of your league. Don't push your luck. Respectfully.
Great video Mr and Mrs Sullins!! Hopefully I'll be getting a new Tesla in the next 18 months or so.. Depending on how far my Tesla stocks go and the Covid 19 plays out... I'm in Hawaii (big island) and no outlets here so I'll probably go to the mainland to purchase. Budget is for a 3, but love the Y better I think. Maybe the price will drop a bit more in the next year too!!
I don't see why you'd have to fly to the mainland. You can order online, and Tesla has a showroom in Honolulu. You can also use a service like Turo to rent a local Y for a day (or more) for a more extended test drive.
Ben, you need to count how many times you interrupt Jenny and take over the conversation. I thought the Fiat was her dream car. Oh well. But I love my new Y as well!!
This is a great personal reference video and I think it is terrific for those who never drove a Tesla. Elon said the S is the best car and I agree. Personally I always wanted a Ferrari but could never afford one. My S is better than a Ferrari and has much more utility than a Ferrari. I find that road tripping in an S is much less tiring than any other non autopilot car.
We have a 2016 Tesla Model S 75D and a 2019 Tesla Model 3 Long Range All Wheel Drive. We love both of these cars. As 60+ year olds, the one feature we wish all Tesla’s had would be entry assist handles above each door. There is bit of a drop down into the Model S and a little more of a drop down into the Model 3. The handles would make getting into and out of the cars a little easier. We had a 2011 Nissan LEAF and it was a lot easier for entry and exit. It was a good first production electric car, but the 100 mile range meant it was good as a second car only.
Lezli mat really ?? I didn’t notice that. My wife has a little adhd and she cannot wait for people to answer a question. She always has to answer it for them. 😀
Great review! I really enjoyed listening to your experience with each vehicle, the discussion between the two of you; pros and cons. Probably one of the most informative, and helpful videos I've watched so far. I like that you've had personal experience with each and that you shared that in this video. Thank you!
Very helpful video, and great job! Just got a Model Y Performance, and love it! One thing you didn't mention is, most things that you might need to use a button for... open glove box, turn on seat heater, lower air conditioning... you can easily do simply by pushing the voice button! Press the button, say "Open glove box"... poof! Glove box opens! Want to hear the Beatles? Simply press the speech button, say "Play The Beatles greatest hits"... and a few seconds later, you're listening to the Beatles! If you press the button and say "Ho Ho HO"... it turns the on screen display of your Tesla into Santa's sled! Pretty funny! There aren't too many things you can't do with voice, and most, you won't need too often, such as setting mirrors, steering wheel, seat position. You set them once and forget them. Thanks for an excellent review and comparison!
:Thanks for your deep experience. It really shows that you have spent some time with this brand, this subject, and the reality of e cars. I just bought a white on white, long range, model 3 with FSD, extra winter tires/rims and a tow hitch. Funny at 27:27 you mention this subject, here in Austria, you can only get the tow hitch preconfigured, not as a service request. Everywhere?
I should mention, car comes in May 2022, so I am a Tesla video watcher rather than Tesla driver for another 3 or 4 months.... I currently drive my first car after 6 years of bike only, a 2016 Kia EV Soul, 117 KM range in summer, 107 in winter. With that said, car is awesome, even heater read seats....also seat cooling, worth the 14K Euros I bought it for.
Thanks for this video, I think it’s the only one of its kind. So props to you both. Nice chemistry between the two of you makes this fun as well as informative .
ah! your super charming wife has me going and reconfiguring my M3LR purchase to the MYLR 😂 I really appreciate her perspective and the reasons she has for liking the Y the most really align w what I want 🥂
it's actually disconcerting how good the audio is. it sounds like you are in a medium sized room; with a small number of noise absorbing panels. But you are outside, weird.
I have an MX - 2019 - funny thing is it’s usually kids that notice the car - especially at school crossings: They’re the ones that point and say ”look!...Tesla!!” I find it to be a very nippy car, which considering its size is impressive - and I’ve owned a fair few performance cars in my time. I like sitting higher up - something lacking in the 3. And I LOVE the zarro analog ... personal choice I know, but my biggest single gripe of every other EV on the market is the continuation of analog buttons (which are annoying to clean I might add). Why do many still have ’start/stop’ buttons?? So yea, Tesla fan girl for life :)
Very nice review of your Tesla experience. It also shows the learning curve of what each car has improved upon. Remember that the charging stations and speeds have also improved as the cars have evolved. So in a way it is comparing apples to oranges. It would be like doing a review of your current wife compared to all the previous girlfriends who have dumped you. Each has its personal pros and cons. Thanks
Did not hear you discuss how the air suspension in the X and new S has to feel differently. I Have a 2018 S and hate the stiff ride and am testing out the Mercedes EQB or look for a used Model X because it rides so much better. Comfort will become more important to you as you age!!! and we all do age!!!! Nice review
Thank you both for this video. Ben we'll see if your favorite changes when the cybertruck arrives.. hmm Jenny great points on the Y, still undecided here. Cheers from Kingston Ontario Canada!
Earned a subscriber because of the quality content. I’m taking classes for my driver’s license and even though owning a Tesla is a longer term goal for me, it feels good to be informed.
The garage opener included was something everyone had to pay when the truth is most people in the world don’t have a garage, even in US a lot of people live in apartments and houses without garages so why charge everyone for a feature that only some would use.
When Jenny calls the interior of a Model S a typical "luxury old guy car" ..... has she seen the inside of literally any non Tesla? lol.... definitely less minimalist than new models but still way ahead of the game
Thank You I liked the S from the beginning and also the Y not the x or 3 need room for Costco runs and would like the ability to Throw an air mattress in the back and go on a mini road trip.
most of homelink's cost comes from licencing, and if you buy the homelink module, they will add it to the car when you pick it up and you wont be charged extra like you would if it was a seperate appointment
I am subscribed now & 👍 this video! This is the most informative Tesla video I’ve watched so far. Excellent, good, useful, basic info. Really smart idea having Momma there to comment & evaluate each vehicle. Men & women are so different in our likes/ dislikes. I’m signed up for the Cybertruck. Right now I’m getting the tri-motor. 500 miles range, but not sure if I need all the performance & towing capacity. I’m rethinking.
I drove both the S and the 3 performance, didn't feel the S at all, felt very much like a "standard car". Some nice upgrade features on the S but no way a 2x value. The 3 Perf is a radically better driving experience. The interior on these in general is leagues behind Caddy/BMW/Benz etc
Price wise, they are similar, but a better comparison would’ve been a Performance Model S vs Performance Model 3.. in which case the S blows the doors off the 3 in more ways than just acceleration, but the Performance 3 is my second favorite Tesla, followed closely by the Plaid Model X. Honestly, you can’t pick a bad one.. they’re all fantastic.
I test drove a Model Y last week. Considering getting one. I am a very large guy, so I didn't fit in the Model 3 at all. I'm 6'4 300lbs with long legs. Knees are literally on the dashboard. They really need to learn to make cars that can fit men taller than 6'0. Some issues I had was that the seats are kind of small for larger sized men. Because of that the seat will take more wear and tear in time. The rear view mirror is super tiny. The mirror is about 1/3 the size of a normal rear view mirror, and it's uncomfortable to look through it, because you have to literally move your head around to see what is behind you. The speedometer only being on the screen is also pretty bad. To keep with minimalistic design they could install a HUD speedo on the dashboard directly in front of the driver. It actually feels dangerous that you have to look to your right, and take your eyes off the road to see your current speed. Other than that they seem to be pretty nice cars.
I had to add on homelink for my model 3 performance. They came to my house to do the service. it was not something I would have wanted to install. required frunk removal and bumper. so I included the cost had installation included. I love my model 3 and after covid is somewhat over(2 years later) I plan to test drive others. I might want a minimal cybertruck. Loved this video, great comparisons.
I absolutely love the look and feel of our model 3. The Y looks like it has more utility, but considering how similar it is to the 3, I am surprised how much less attractive it is (to me). It looks fat and boring in comparison.
Just go buy a Renaul Zoe or a Bolt, a Hyundai Kona or a Kia eNiro. You don't need a Tesla. The point is going electric, going green. Not owning a Tesla.
@@SebastianPeitsch no not really. A poser car is lambo, Ferrari, something really high end. A Tesla is just a Tesla. I’d happily take a £40k model 3. But my budget isn’t anywhere near that. If I could get a used one for £20k I would/will have one. But I’ve never had a car in finance or lease and don’t like the idea of doing that.
Good comments overall and opinions on the various Tesla models. Only one thing I disagree with, and that is the functionality if the automatic doors on the Model X. I have owned a Model X for 4 years and I love the auto-doors. The comment about it being unsafe on a road with traffic is not really true. It doesn’t start opening until you are close enough that you can stop it if there is any danger. I’ve had it enabled for all 4 years and never felt it was unsafe. For me it’s one of those things you never thought you needed (and of course you don’t really), but you fall in love with the convenience and miss it when it’s gone. It is fantastic when you have things in both hands.
Thanks guys. Nice rundown. I like the looks of the model 3 and the utility of the model Y. X & S are way over what I would spend on a car that is changing so fast. Also the S doesn’t hold its value well, seems the X is.
Yeah and the higher end models get worse in reliability as you go up, strangely enough. The X and S are the worst, and are what cause Tesla to be so low in consumer reports. They call the Model 3 “average reliability”. I ordered a Model 3 LR, it was a lot but I drive so much that in the end it’s worth it in the current market (I thought about everything for a few months and went for it).

(PS look at the comments as well)
Well we just got the mode s plaid
Hey the new S is way above that hahah!
It is amazing to watch you 2. You guys are so in synch with each other, the height of comfort, especially for a video completely unscripted....Bravo!!

Love your videos Ben, but would you please stop interrupting your wife. It is like in every video with the two of you. Yes, I am married too:-)
I have driven the S, 3, and X and all things considered I like the 3 the most. One day, I will try the Y and I am really looking forward to the CyberTruck.

I’m looking into a model 3 with “all the perks” but when I go on the Tesla website they give me some outrageous monthly finance pricing. This was a super helpful video!! I just bought a model S (getting delivery in a couple days) and have been SO up in the air on which model to go with but this gave me some peace of mind that I made the right decision so thank you for that!!
My wife absolutely love our Model S and has already decided if she ever replaces it, it will be another Model S.
SPOILER: He likes Model-S, and she likes Model-Y.
Those are clearly Tesla's two best designs.
Until CyberTruck comes out! 😀
What about the Model X that's cooler than the Model Y
I'd go with the Y as well, but like Jen, I would love a few analogue controls - love the dial Ford is putting on its big screen

Also, the 3 and Y will be a dime a dozen and I don't want to walk up to ever 3 in the mall parking lot lol.
for me :
Design:
3,S,Y,X
Tech:
Y,3,X,S
Drivability:
S,3,Y,X
How come you put the Y first in your Tech category? Isn't the model S supposed to be Tesla's flagship?
However, I get how iPhones or Android devices are better for some people as well.
@@aidenbagshaw5573 ha yes UK here, CCS on the 3 and eventually Y, teeny tiny CCS adaptor for S and Xs as well much nicer than the behemoth that was the CHAdeMO adaptor and also capable of 120kW CCS IIRC
Nah I have X for better design than the Y and drivability
Extremely liked this video - your wife is best reviewer of cars. I found her to be so credible and honestly sold me on the 3 + Y. I’d recommend letting her review more cars !!!
You interrupted Jennie constantly...
Well she would kind of stay on a topic for too long sometimes haha
He’s just finishing her sentences. Couples do that, after a while. . .
Nah.. They are just a so good couple that they can end each anothers sentences.
@siliara She recognized him as being alpha, the leader in their family. Its natural, nothing unusual about that. It is annoying though in a video.
@A J Wow! Chill out. She seems to have no problem with him.
I love when you guys do the videos together. It's great to get both viewpoints. Great job.
Dude, let her speak. Stop cutting her off, she's visibly frustrated every time you do it and you are already hitting way out of your league. Don't push your luck. Respectfully.
She's tolerating it for the money :(
I do agree on the first part, but you could've skipped this: "and you are already hitting way out of your league".
She interrupts just as much as him. Stop virtue signaling you incel
Super helpful and an enjoyable watch.
Funny that she was the first to interrupt. Stop thinking you know their relationship incel
I love how ben always cuts his wife off before she finishes her sentences.
interjecting is different than cutting off, i think it was perfectly fine the way he was doing it.
i thought i was crazy for noticing that
Ha usually people think it’s the other way 😝

177 Km range in summer

I love my model S but agree I wish I had gone for the bigger battery!
ah! your super charming wife has me going and reconfiguring my M3LR purchase to the MYLR 😂 I really appreciate her perspective and the reasons she has for liking the Y the most really align w what I want 🥂
it's actually disconcerting how good the audio is. it sounds like you are in a medium sized room; with a small number of noise absorbing panels. But you are outside, weird.
They are using local clip on LAV Mic’s with a small dB audio range, look them up.
Awesome content and very helpful - appreciate you both sharing your thoughts here and having all of the EV’s together to compare.
Thanks
One of the best real life owner reviews I've seen. You two make a great team.
Nice review
Yay been waiting for this video!!
Great job, guys! Thanks for the review. I enjoyed the back and forth between you two!
Thank you both for this video. Ben we'll see if your favorite changes when the cybertruck arrives.. hmm Jenny great points on the Y, still undecided here. Cheers from Kingston Ontario Canada!
Model Y is the one for me. Perfect size, perfect price (lower would be even better).

I don’t know what makes Ben look more swole, flexing his arms or flexing his cars
most of homelink's cost comes from licencing, and if you buy the homelink module, they will add it to the car when you pick it up and you wont be charged extra like you would if it was a seperate appointment
Ben let her talk :)
S and Y definitely seem like the most "Goldilocks," cars in the line-up right now. Great video, Ben.
You guys are wonderful. Love it when you both are in the video. Great stuff! Keep it going.
The Model 3 sounds like a single girls car, and the Model Y is more of a mom car.
The single girls car is usual a fiat 500 in my experience in the UK 🤦🏻♂️😂
Not here in the states
Soo neither is a guys car?
Thanks, Sullins Family. Great way to provide an in-depth comparison across all Tesla models. It certainly informs my decision.
Good Job to you both, keep Jenny in your videos.
Very nice compilations. So now we’re waiting for Cybetruck and Semi review? :)
That was an excellent summary of these cars. Well done. Thanks and best wishes
God I wish I had the money to have 1 tesla let alone all of them
Great video, Ben. I keep going back and forth about my next Tesla, but I’m a little more inclined to go for the Y. Cheers!
Wow, this was a great video! Really enjoyed it
I absolutely love the look and feel of our model 3. The Y looks like it has more utility, but considering how similar it is to the 3, I am surprised how much less attractive it is (to me). It looks fat and boring in comparison.
Model X ( an SUV) is best for me and most practical.
But I prefer Model S (a car) because it handles tighter and accelerated faster.
I can’t afford 1 very used Tesla and I’m here depressing myself listening to these talk about about all 4 which they own.
Just go buy a Renaul Zoe or a Bolt, a Hyundai Kona or a Kia eNiro. You don't need a Tesla. The point is going electric, going green. Not owning a Tesla.
@@SebastianPeitsch no it’s about owning a Tesla. I don’t need one. I want one.
@@johnlever6696 LOL so it’s about posing. Well at least you’re honest 😂

MODEL Y, thats their favorite. saved you 20 minutes.
