"Its really Awful" !! omg you sound just like me, we are too self critical, in truth your work is bloody marvelous, your so clever and even more delightful, because you don't even know it...well done loving your channel...
Wow, I’m just blown away at how you build up layer by layer, seemingly randomly, tho’ prob not to create such extraordinarily different paintings. Some I love, others don’t talk to me at all; I always wonder why that is!! Thank you 😃
Thank you, Annette! Not yet, but I’m thinking about creating some in the future. Is there anything in particularly you’d like to learn. What things are you struggling with the most?
@@jclosestudio Thank you Jeannine. Right now I’m struggling with switching out my marks and patterns. I tend to always drift back to the same brush strokes or marks. It’s hard to break. I’m just starting CVP so hoping this helps but I love your teaching method and painting style so was curious on courses with you. I think if you offered some individual paid courses you would do well. Thanks again. 🙏💕
@@AnnetteSurtees Thanks for the feedback! I can so relate to getting stuck and creating the same kind of marks over and over. One thing I find that helps is to switch out my tools. You could also get a large sheet of paper and practice some really big marks, and then very small ones to contrast that.
@@jclosestudio Great suggestion. I’ve now got most of my tools laying in front of me as I paint so I don’t forget! See you’ve helped me already!! And the Big paper is clever too !! Thanks Jeannine. 🤗
Love your sketchbook playfulness! I tend to try too hard to make a painting or a pleasing (to me) piece of artwork. It saps some of my spontaneity, creative freedom, and fun.
You can get a bunch of different ‘color shapers’ of various shapes and sizes for pretty cheap if you search for silicone pottery tools you can find lots of options usually for about 5-10 per 5-10$ pack. They won’t have the fancy imprint on the handle or anything but they’re otherwise exactly the same and will give you a much wider range of options to play with. Also, lovely work and thanks for sharing!
I was just going to suggest that and saw it was done. :) Although the handle is going to be different. The one she uses is an artist paint brush handle and the shapers for silicone pottery/clay have shorter and thinner handles.
So many great ideas! I love seeing people explore. I want to loosen up with my sketchbooks too. I also recently started an inspiration sketchbook/scrapbook. I had an old stack of cards (old birthday cards, etc.) and images I had printed or torn out of magazines. It's nice to have them all in one place. Thank you for the video!
I was just going through my failed paintings wondering what to do with them. Good idea to cut out the parts I like and put them in a sketch book. 😊 thanks
I get given sketch books for Christmas and birthdays because I paint they must be useful but I so rarely sketch I have 7 or more not started 😅 . The house is like an art gallery with (currently) 22 paintings and room for a few more in the living room and many more around the house I don't find much time to sketch, but I'm loving your work with so many great ideas.
I can so relate! I have bought so many sketchbooks that are still waiting to be filled. And I just don't enjoy traditional sketching. out flat is so crowded with paintings that we have to move house now 😄 Hope you find something you enjoy creating in your sketchbooks. And if not, they still look pretty on a shelf 😉
What a great and inspiring video with several different ideas that got my creative brain rolling! Thank you! Do you happen to have the link or info about the jars you used for your acrylic mixes? I love the look of them so much better than the cheap flimsy ones I've seen other artist use for theirs. Not only does it look nicer but I won't worry about them tipping over all the time. Which is a big reason I haven't implemented that system yet.😂
Hi Christina! So glad you liked the video. These are the jars I use: amzn.to/3WsZv4v I think they are usually used for cosmetics so if you search for "cosmetic jar" or something like that, I'm sure you'll find something similar. I've also seen people use empty tubs of those expensive ice cream brands that are quite similar.
totally agree, it is also easier for me to feel like I can try new things on pieces i already feel are ruined. I can't ruin it anymore. so the permission to play is there. Your work and videos are terrific. thanks for taking the time to share your process and your thoughts!@@jclosestudio
Aaah hello bubba❤ Thank you Jeannine more inspiration. I am implementing some of your ideas, this is all great practise for composition study, and colour blending. I seem to be acquiring a lot more sketch books......
Thank you for sharing. I have been trying to put something in my new sketchbook but the stark white pages of a pretty book have somehow intimidated me. Not going to let it keep doing that. :)
I love a new sketchbook, but you are right, they are always a little intimidating. Lots of artists also start the first page with colour swatches, which I also find quite effective
Thank you Jeannine for this inspiring video. I’m not good with sketchbooks. I’ve some with few pages used. I prefer loose papers which I can classify and stock easily, besides easy drying. This was one of reasons that , I never considered myself a real artist 😅. However, I love your sketchbook of colors mixing. It is an excellent way to keep track of own experiments. I’ll try to have one . Thank you again
You are most welcome! I'm so glad to hear it has inspired you to create your own colour mixing sketchbook. Funny how we always have these limiting beliefs that we are not a proper artist. Sketchbooks are definitely very useful, but they don't have to be part of your practice to call yourself an artist. Everyone's practice is different!
I totally agree with you. I think the main reason to self doubt that I didn't follow academic study of Art. But I believe that practicing is the only way forward. I love your videos and methods. You show patience and great attention to details. Keep the great energy you have :)@@jclosestudio
Hi Jamie! I use a few different ones, I've linked them in the description box. The one I use the most probably is the Art Creation sketchbook by Royal Talens: 🇬🇧 tidd.ly/3XoRO02 🇺🇸 shrsl.com/4p3xq
It's acrylic paint I had mixed ages ago so unfortunately I don't remember what colours I mixed them from. The beige is quite similar to a buff titanium. The yellow is raw sienna. The acrylic paints are mainly Daler Rowney System 3 acrylics. Hope this helps!
Nice ideas for developing a sketchbook habit. Thanks, Jeannine and I really liked the way you handled the small silicone tool.
Thanks, Ann! I love that little silicon tool.

Thank you so much, Caroline! I think the difference might be the composition 😉
Was a great scenery …my passion - trees.
Hello! Trees are magnificent, and I find them so inspiring. But I have not quite figured out yet how to integrate them into my art.
I love you Jeannine. You are so helpful and your style is calm and. sweet and funny. Thank you for all you do for us. Do you have any paid courses ?
