    This looks exactly like what I need. I'll try to do a similar excersize with watercolor. Oh and don't feel bad about then repeated sweater, it is beautiful. I miss the day we could repeat our favorite garments lots of time. But don't let that stop you from enjoying shopping

      Thank you! I used to try and wear different things in my videos, but I don't have a very big wardrobe, so I quickly ran out! Last year, I didn't really buy any clothes, but I do feel the need for some fresh wardrobe inspiration. Might be time! All the old favourites will get a work-out on this channel though, I like to wear things a lot before I retire them 🤎

    Hi Laura from Jess in the south of the UK. I love your broad approach to art, it’s so interesting when you refer to inspiring books you’ve read to help you with your practice. Art runs so much deeper than the actual end output. Thanks for everything you share, I really look forward to taking it all in with a cuppa!

      @JessLuckArtist I really like your comment about art running deeper than the actual end output.😊❤

    • @LauraHornArt
      @LauraHornArt  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Jess, love your comment - art is so much more than putting paint to paper. There are connections everywhere and it doesn't matter if others can see those connections or not. It's just lovely when a piece of art reminds you of an experience, feeling, or memory. Many of my art pieces remind me of books, songs, personal objects, and places. It all finds its way in!

    I have trouble being loose with a sketchbook - also getting over the idea that “I can’t draw”. So this was very encouraging and helpful! Thanks!

    • @LauraHornArt
      @LauraHornArt  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I am so glad it was helpful! The "I can't draw" message can be such a barrier, but we can all draw in our own unique way once we let go of the pressure!

    that's very "nice & loose"; i lyke that technique!!! well, i'm a so called classic artist, but i like to incorporate "mixed media" to my art, 'coz, it's so minimalized and yet so powerful, everyone does it!!! tfs anywayys,tenx!!!you have a great day!!

    Thanks for sharing this information. I am trying to become less rigid and looser as an artist...I really liked the mixed medium and the philosophy of unfinished, imperfections, and the goal of a state of natural flow artistically

    Lovely work! but I couldn't stop worrying about the surface of your dining room table!! (Wipeable covering comes to mind😂)

    • @LauraHornArt
      @LauraHornArt  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! To put your mind at ease, this was actually a temporary dining table, we have a new table now which I always protect 😊 This one is a second hand table I picked up to eventually use in the studio, but we used it in our house when we first moved in. It already had some paint on it when I got it so I’m not too worried adding more I do have some table cloths and boards I use to protect it if I know I’m going to be really messy!

    What is the difference between acrylic ink and watercolor?

    • @LauraHornArt
      @LauraHornArt  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Watercolour is usually transparent, while ink can be either transparent or opaque. Another big difference is that watercolour can be reactivated with water after drying, whereas most inks dry permanently.

    I admire the idea of writing down what you used. I would write this on a post-it-note though (rather then the actual page) so I could remove it down the road if I choose to

    • @LauraHornArt
      @LauraHornArt  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely, that's a great approach. I'm pretty relaxed about what is in my sketchbook and don't mind the notes, but if you prefer not to have them detract from the art, post-it notes would work really well.
