Honestly, I miss when Charlotte used to do her marketing just by applying the makeup on a normal model and just showing how beautiful she looked afterwards but still herself. Her marketing as of lately reminds me of those hour long commercials where they try to get you to call for a "limited time deal"
For the percentages-380% just means “about 4x brighter” or whatever-just a different way to say it. Still outrageous and meaningless, probably found by a random sample of people who were asked “how much brighter would you say your skin looks?” and then averaged that number. But that’s how they came up with those numbers-again, still outrageous and meaningless hyperbole, but that’s how it can be more than 100%
@@milenakupiec1839 yeah, using a specific percentage imparts this feeling of high accuracy - even though that's a nonsensical level of accuracy with predominantly subjective claims.

I was very surprised that many people did not understand and said "it cannot be more than 100%" (this 100% is not the maximum capacity of the skin, it is the level of brighness in your skin without the product). And that an oil multiplies the Glow by 3.8 is not that impressive since it makes your skin oily... But this is so much more impressive to read "380%" especially for those who do not understand that it just means" 3.8x more..."
This is why I love you Wayne. You call this stuff out! And it needs to be called out. Those of us out here without unlimited funds or incoming PR hauls need to know the truth about these expensive products, and frankly while some of CT’s products are good, many are overpriced and overhyped for what you get. As are Tom Ford’s line, which at those high prices are full of more cheap fillers like wheat and barley than most drugstore brands. Keep up the honesty. You got me back into makeup and I never miss a video.
It really makes me laugh. It is just sooo ridiculous. On a subject totally different from this one. I wanted to give you a huge thank you. I put on some make up at the weekend, following tips from your videos. It looked great and it stayed really well, so thank you so very much. Am now happy about wearing good make up to the Wedding I am going to later this week. Take care x
Unfortunately when I hear crazy claims and marketing like that on a product I instantly decide not to try that product so it works the exact opposite for me 🙄
Charlotte's whole brand story is just bizarre and kind of... sad? She's said in interviews she started wearing makeup at 13 because men thought she looked sexier. At 13! She also wears makeup to sleep and her husband has never seen her without it. She calls it her "bedroom eye" and says it keeps their spark alive. Just madness. She's allegedly also openly vocally critical of people she sees as fat, ugly, bad at makeup, etc. I don't know that one for sure just what I've heard from people in the industry. Either way her overall brand vibe is just not for me.
I remember when she did a make-up challenge and had to do a look in a certain amount of time and she refused to be seen without her eyeliner already done.
I'm turning 50 this year so I decided to start wearing foundation. I am having a ball playing in makeup but now I need somewhere to go. Wayne you are my go to guy so thank you for really useful information.
I totally agree with you, it really makes her look more stupid.. and I can’t believe she would agree with putting those foolish claims on her product, that’s crazy.
I adore you!!! you are not only gorgeous inside AND out but you have integrity, you never sell yourself out! I really trust you and love your tutorials, much success, health and glow for you and your life sweet soul!!
Your skin looks amazing! I know this sounds so basic, but when you pointed out using body lotion on the face (I’ve been using necessaire) I’ve started doing just that (it sounds so simple) and it works so well and saves time and money-especially when I’m so lazy at night. Loving your videos!
Unfortunately after 20 years in the industry I can never get behind a company who's founder quite openly says their husband has never seen them without makeup, and that they sleep in it. I had a full makeover a few years ago at a counter and it looked beautiful, for 10 mins, until everything oxidised and slid off my face. It might have improved but back then it was cheap, poor quality products but in fancy rose gold packaging, hyped up by celebrities with a price point to match.
And now, it is time for some laughs and giggles: A beauty content creator walks into a department store and approaches a salesperson selling a set of three tiny vials wrinkle serum. The salesperson says, "This first vial plumps the wrinkles. This second vial flattens the wrinkles. This third vial smooths the wrinkles." The content creator asks, "How much are they?" The salesperson says, "$400." The content creator says, "$400?!! How could three tiny vials of serum get so expensive?!!!" The salesperson says, "That's what creates the wrinkles."
So I will basically not ever need to use the flashlight on my phone if I begin using this product - correct? LOL! Thanks for being honest with us. I always come to you to see what's going on in the skincare and makeup world!!!
I just bought your new blush palette in Desert Blossom!!! I am SOOO excited to review it! I have loved ALL your products and brushes so far. Have an ever-growing wish list 🤣 As far as this, I'm sticking to my Velvet Skin Oil and Poreless Moisturizer. TY for your thoughts!!! 😊
I have only ever used Pure Emu Oil on my face and body, no frills, pure, no smell and in my opinion fantastic and it really does not cost an arm and a leg and a small bottle lasts absolutely ages as you only need a small amount. I live your tutorials they are so very "Real" Thank you!
I find the outlandish claims off putting and patronising too. It assumes that the consumer doesn’t understand that there is no percentage higher than 100%. So when I see claims that a product will improve my skin by 300% I immediately see a lie and if they can lie about the research results then they can lie about everything else to do with that item. So, I usually give those products and brands a miss. If a product is that great they shouldn’t have to lie to sell it. I’ve probably missed out on some great skincare because I’ve found the claims about it patronising and off putting but I just don’t trust that kind of advertising.
I mean, you can definitely have percentages greater than 100%, because they are at their core just a ratio that compares to a threshold value. HOWEVER in this case all it really means is that the scale is set fairly low which is an indicator of deceptive marketing for sure. The question is: what are they saying is "normal skin moisture"? Say they decide to set it at 4 moisture units=100% moisture, and then after using the product the skin reads 8 moisture units - that is now 200% moisture. But then the problem is they can just set it wherever they want to get better numbers - set the 100% threshold to 2 moisture units and now its 400%!! So what justification are they using to set the threshold value? That's what we don't know. Percentages are a useful way to quantify a change from baseline, but they are also very easy to manipulate in marketing because they obscure the underlying quantities
You can definitely have percentages higher than 100%. That's just growth. So if a product claims your skin is 300% brighter, what it means is that it will be 4 times brighter
@@CheesyJulesie @Deirdre Newton Thanks for your break down of this, I was never the best at Maths or science! 😂 I see what you mean, I still find those amounts extremely off putting though. It’s just a bunch of outlandish figures plucked out of thin air, with no large scale, in depth, long term scientific trials to back those claims or figures up. Brands as big as CT shouldn’t have to resort to such tacky advertising imo. The products should speak for themselves. Too many brands rely on hyperbole, especially when it comes to ingredients (hoping that the consumer will not fully understand what they mean but will be impressed by all the long words just the same) I wish brands would be more transparent and realistic because often consumers purchase expensive products based on those types of miracle claims and very rarely will it deliver to the extent advertised. Which is something I don’t understand, when a product is advertised as miraculous and will improve the consumers skin by several hundred percent then it’s surely more likely that the consumer will be disappointed upon using it and not getting those expected miraculous results? I’d rather be pleasantly surprised by how great a product is than feel let down because it couldn’t possibly live up to its own overinflated, over the top and overdramatic claims.
Thank you for this honest review, I was put off by the amount on nonsense when I was on the site, I am 41 years old and at this point can’t stand the bs from companies. But I need moisture on some of my eye lid areas, but I have been experiencing acne on my chin… past years horrid chin acne? I have never had acne issues, even as a teen, so it’s very odd and embarrassing to be honest. I try to avoid oils on my chin but my lids are a bit crape like the past years, so I need moisture. I may get this now that you have posted this. If you have any info on the chin acne let me know please 💕🙏 adore you
I am almost 50 and I don't even want to buy things anymore. I have horribly dehydrated dry skin and have managed to get my skin dewy and able to hold moisture without spending crazy amounts of money on luxury brands. The claims are outrageous. It's like the little boy who cried wolf.
I use almond oil, pommegranate oil, jojoba oil or marula oil (one at a time of course) together with a small amount of nightcream and considering that I will be 70 years old in May, I have quite good skin, and who cares about a few wrinkles anyway👍😀❤️ Love from Brigittexxx
If a company is printing a claim and using it to sell their product, why wouldn't they meant it to be taken seriously? If they were sued for not delivering on those claims can they argue that they were just joking, possibly even lying to sell product?
Exactly. The hyperbole with some CT products is ruining their credibility. I just enjoy the products I like knowing this. And read real reviews like Wayne's to compare and decide. Until they are called out legally, doubt it will change.
And everything is "darling" which is weird to me idk. I like a few things from her brand. Her foundation was pretty nice but it made me break out SOOO bad so I can't even use it. I wish companies would calm down on skincare in foundation. It just makes me breakout
I stopped purchasing Charlotte Tilbury for this very reason: the hyperbole, the patronizing tone of her marketing is just appalling and the products are overpriced.
You always make this look so easy! After a week of visiting the grandkids, repairs to our pickup truck and getting the flu, I'm finally starting to feel like myself again. I hope you have a blissful week ahead! Thank you for this video!
Your absolutely Right! Seeing those % on the product and the ridiculous claims does not make me want this. It is doing the exact opposite!! I'm with you on this, if I see something and the claims they make are so overwhelming that it just sounds like b.s. with all the beauty bombardment constantly making claims like this just turn me off. I have more realistic expectations when it comes to skin care, not saying this isn't a good product. It probably is, but it's not gonna change 1,000% of my skin.
I also don't believe most companies percentage claims. I also have read, several places, that collagen molecules are too big to be absorbed into the skin. I heard it needs to be taken internally. ( doctors have even said this.) Your thoughts on this???
Wayne, thank you SO MUCH for talking about the fragrance of the product. I am EXTREMELY fragrance sensitive, so scent in a product is a BIG deal. Unfortunatey, I will have to pass on this [AMAZING BY 376%] product asa result. I abhor the smell of eucalyptus and not a fan of most essential oils.
Your skin does look fantastic here! 😍 it really does, very youthful. You are always youthful but I can see the effects I believe...btw...MANDY DAVIS, MUA would make a beautiful model for you. She's been very supportive and loves your products. I kept thinking of her for these recent palettes. They are beautuful 😍
@@tammy_vip That’s why I hardly purchase high end cosmetics…they stink with all of their signature scents. Its similar to every Target 🎯 store smelling like the next one then that scent sticks to your clothing and hair and you carry it home.
It reminded me very much of Ponds Cold cream. In fact I bought some shortly afterwards - for a fraction of the price, and could barely tell the difference. Needless to say I didn’t repurchase the Miracle cream.
I never understood why anyone would want to use the Miracle Cream since the scent is overwhelming and there is absolutely nothing special about the formulation.
I have been a long-time lover of CT products, but lately, the marketing has been so annoying and sort of cheapens the brand for me, if that makes sense.
Thanks again for another brilliant video ☺️ xx aww the red ears look cute!!! I always think the same how can it be 1732 or whatever it is percent? Percent of what and if it’s a thousand times more moisture than your face already has your face would be an oil slick 😂
It is called the “Pinocchio Effect” when a person or even a company has to use too many words, descriptions, claims, statistics etc. all in an effort to convince you to believe their story, punchline or claims. When this happens, I usually tend to avoid purchasing products or listening any further as their credibility has gone down the drain for me.
Your voice is so soothing. You should do relaxation videos to help people relax/fall asleep :p this vid was another great one. Always look forward to your vids 😍 xx
Every CT product I've tried has been disappointing. Now, I don't even bother. And those percentage are beyond ridiculous. From my high school maths, I didn't think you could get higher than 100%? Clarins have been selling oils for years, and were way ahead of the facial oil game. Their Santal oil is perfect for me.
@@rachelr.n.3563 and she comes across as a lovely person, but it's just too much for me. Her legendary lashes is truly legendary. Then ten minutes later, it's legendary dead crows on my cheeks! FYI: lavender has phytohormones that mimic estranged to the body. If you have an undiagnosed or under-treatment estrogen-responsive cancer, this is *an issue* I would post the research, but anytime I post any link on beauty YT ideas, it gets deleted.
This should be higher because it's important information. There was an episode of Law & Order Criminal Intent, back when Vincent D'Onofrio was on it, that had this (estrogen responsive cancer) in a storyline. It was one of the episodes in the season spanning story arc (6 total I think) with his nemesis/other-half Nicole Wallace.
Also, my little rescue Fox Terrier told me I had two tumours in my left breast, in May2019. When there was a lull in COVID Austrian surgeons found me a bed on a bowel cancer ward & removed the breast. It was supposed to be 1 in&out day of surgery, but complications made it 6. It was a fucking hellscape, but if you have to have a cancer, Ladies, ER+ breast cancer is hands down the better choice between what I had & what I witnessed in Reality for several days, & the giant scorpion flies that clipped their way out of my stitches while I tripped balls on an opiate drip…
And just because she calls everyone "Darling" while she is siting these percentages, it feels like smoke and mirrors, yet many of her products are lovely.
Let’s say your skin glows in daylight because of reflection of light from the surface of the skin. That amount of glow, in lumens is 100% of your glow. Now 300% is in essence 3 times more 😁
finally someone who understands statistics! thank you. those claims are just translated from 2x/3x/4x glowier, healthier whatever to 200/300/400%! nothing special about it....
Nevertheless 3 x the total glow on your skin? For a fairly regular face oil? That's not an increase you tend to see with a light home product like that. However she expresses it, it sounds unrealistic (plus she cites holistic crystals as part f her scientific ingredient breakthroughs). It isn't the maths, the claims themselves are simply unrealistic - or use vague/woo ingredients as science- compared to performance.
@@likkleginger i agree that is a stupid claim. I just answered because he said he couldn’t understand how can something be more than 100%! And i remembered some time ago i had the same question but since i have a child who is doing her gcse’s this year…. All the little maths and physics is more actual in my head than ever 😂. In regards to greasy skin or not, i really don’t care. I used it as an example. But as usually, someone has to point out that we cannot generalise anymore. I will be particular. On my bone dry skin, in the middle of the afternoon , when the sus shines straight on my absolutely flawless forehead with zero pores ( so that the light will not be diffracted) the light reflected back is of 100 lumens ( thats a lie as i didn’t measure-nor will i ever do that). To use it simpler: if you have one pound salary and you have an increase of your salary of 100% how many pounds your salary will be? How about if they increase it with 300%
I agree with you. I have no idea how anything can be above 100% literally. I say '1000%' when I am obviously and deliberately overstated for dramatic effect. Drama has no place in a product description that people are relying on! Thank you for the video!

I LOVE every time CT launch a new product. I get my calculator ready and have a good laugh 😂. Its not everyday we get to see a product claims worth 1000 % 🤣🤣🤣
I agree, why the ridiculous claims ? Plus, with the fact that it has fragrance in it, that leaves the people with sensitive skin out. So many other good oils out there at a lower price point too. I do love her setting spray though, it the bomb ! Thanks Matt, your skin looks great ! ☺️💜☺️
All CT products have those percentages. I have never ever believed them. And even if I like some of her makeup products I can't use their creams because of their fragrance to roses, makes me feel sick at my stomach. So I will believe it when I see it 😉
I know you love Charlotte Tilbury so it’s nice to see that you’re in a way calling her out ❤️. Her claims are ridiculous! Not a look good for her company and her.
I'm so turned off by Charlotte Tillbury: everything is overly reflective and OVERPRICED. There are so many great oils out there with more affordable price points, such as Herbivore Botanicals EMERALD CBD + Adaptogens Deep Moisture Glow Oil and Aura Vedic Kumkumadi oil. Lots of Collagen serums out there to be worn under an oil for similar results.
Thank you for that acknowledgement. I bought the new CT foundation and all the percentages on the box cheapened the whole experience. As a medical person I wanted to laugh at the overdone percentages. The package made it look like a dollar store special. It would have been better if she slapped the whole package in the word magic in neon letters. Dont get me wrong I love CT products but as a consumer this marketing is insulting. I have to look past the stupidity to enjoy the actual product. She does great work, but please CT tone it down instead of turning the notch up 327% 😆
I like your honesty, which is rare to find on TH-cam these days. I have a medical background so I always read the ingredients list on skincare products, the ingredients used in comparison to claims made by some brands is laughable.
Facial oils don't even penetrate the skin deep enough to do that. Serum? Yes (but still not 400%) but oils? No. What nonsense. Dermatologists probably laugh. Charlottes brand is slowly becoming goop.
It’s marketing bs and it’s insulting. For me it smacks of desperation and just cheapens the whole brand but sadly not the price. According to these percentages, I’ll be a foetus in no time at all🙄
It's funny how they're like "we can make your skin firmer, smoother, and radiant by over 300 percent". But they can only cure your redness by 74 percent. Like, for that, your on your own lol

Once again l am enjoying playing with makeup at 75!
Agree! Those types of statistics actually turn me off and usually keep me from buying a product.
Take care x
You're lovely
But the products are good though. Am not wearing her vibe. Just the amazing products. And yes, the marketing is outlandish.
@@nusaibahibraheem8183 I agree I have some of her products and the items I have are very good. I hate the marketing campaigns though.
That's weird af lool would you dare wear makeup to bed. What. Ever!
shes very unattractive herself
I'm turning 50 this year so I decided to start wearing foundation. I am having a ball playing in makeup but now I need somewhere to go. Wayne you are my go to guy so thank you for really useful information.
Your honesty is the best and that’s why we buy your prouducts because yours are great and genuine !
Those claims actually just cheapens the product. CT does not need to talk up her products. They speak for themselves
Wayne congratulations on your new blushes..stunning.
Thank you for saying this. I have thought that Charlotte Tillberry’s make up was hype and overpriced as well.
What's the use of a relationship when each one doesn't see each other in their worst???
Crazy...
Thank you Wayne! I saw this as a "gift with purchase" then noted the claims. After the dry matte shadows I must say I'm done with CT sadly....
The claims and the price tag put me off of it immediately.
Agreed! And I'm very glad you say it 😊❤️
Love your honesty...and you are so right,I didn't buy it because it seemed "to good to be true" thank you 🙏❤️
These over the top claims honesty turn me off from trying it. Spot on review, as always!
God! You look sooo handsome. Your skins so good without absolutely anything on it.
So I will basically not ever need to use the flashlight on my phone if I begin using this product - correct? LOL! Thanks for being honest with us. I always come to you to see what's going on in the skincare and makeup world!!!
Your comment made me laugh so much… I won’t ever need light in the middle of the night. I AM the moon… 😂🙄 (and the sun)
Your skin is so glowing can you please do a skin routine! For ladies 😃 and thank you for being so honest! Much love from Afghanistan 😊
If you have any info on the chin acne let me know please 💕🙏 adore you
Wayne you've made me laugh so much! Really appreciate the honesty as usual. Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes, I found it funny too! Something to laugh at great at the moment, with the state of the world. No it’s not just you! Thank you so much Wayne.
Your skin indeed looks wonderful 💜🌻✌🏻
I am almost 50 and I don't even want to buy things anymore. I have horribly dehydrated dry skin and have managed to get my skin dewy and able to hold moisture without spending crazy amounts of money on luxury brands. The claims are outrageous. It's like the little boy who cried wolf.
What do you use?
What do you use
Good for you. Save your $$$
I use almond oil, pommegranate oil, jojoba oil or marula oil (one at a time of course) together with a small amount of nightcream and considering that I will be 70 years old in May, I have quite good skin, and who cares about a few wrinkles anyway👍😀❤️
Love from Brigittexxx
Can you share what you used 👀
This epitomizes why we’re stans for you!
I've been taking CT's latest claims as tongue in cheek. They're too wild to be taken seriously.
Actually, that's a great perspective and you could very well be right!
Just wanted to tell you that your skin and hair are beautiful on this video! So fresh!🌸💖🌸
When companies post outrageous claims it makes me want to not try the product.
( doctors have even said this.)
Your thoughts on this???
A few companies list how many people they tested on, you're lucky if it's 100
And that’s why we love Wayn Goss! U r amazing and honest
Essential oils should not be in skincare. Potentially irritating!
I not only agree, but I don't think ANY fragrance has a place in skin care, esp. formthe face!
The claims are ridiculous. The Miracle Cream put me off the brand right away.
The fragrance in it is insane 😫
@@tammy_vip
That’s why I hardly purchase high end cosmetics…they stink with all of their signature scents.
There are no miracles. Just consistent skin care discipline and healthy life style. CT thinks we are all brain dead. Hollow advertising. Meh
You always call it as it is. I love this about you. Thank you Wayne
PS. I just love the new Makeup Forever HD foundation
I have been a long-time lover of CT products, but lately, the marketing has been so annoying and sort of cheapens the brand for me, if that makes sense.
This was the funniest product review I've seen! Thank you Mr. GOSS!
Thanks again for another brilliant video ☺️ xx aww the red ears look cute!!! I always think the same how can it be 1732 or whatever it is percent? Percent of what and if it’s a thousand times more moisture than your face already has your face would be an oil slick 😂
thank you for your honesty and knowledge
It is called the “Pinocchio Effect” when a person or even a company has to use too many words, descriptions, claims, statistics etc. all in an effort to convince you to believe their story, punchline or claims. When this happens, I usually tend to avoid purchasing products or listening any further as their credibility has gone down the drain for me.
this is why you’re my favourite wayne!!!!
That seems like outlandish claims?! I got the brand “PIXI”, and it is a Vit c priming oil. Seems good, and smells great and at a much lower price
Same! I don't understand the hype!!
Same. Most of their crap burns my eyes.
@@rachelr.n.3563 and she comes across as a lovely person, but it's just too much for me.
Her legendary lashes is truly legendary. Then ten minutes later, it's legendary dead crows on my cheeks! The suits all skin tones of pillow talk would suit me if I'd been dead for twenty years. I dunno, it's just not the brand for me, but I know millions love her products.

If you have an undiagnosed or under-treatment estrogen-responsive cancer, this is *an issue*
I would post the research, but anytime I post any link on beauty YT ideas, it gets deleted.
This should be higher because it's important information.
There was an episode of Law & Order Criminal Intent, back when Vincent D'Onofrio was on it, that had this (estrogen responsive cancer)
in a storyline.
Will always appreciate your honesty……….! 😘
And just because she calls everyone "Darling" while she is siting these percentages, it feels like smoke and mirrors, yet many of her products are lovely.
Thank you for your complete honesty!!!
Thats a 1600 lumens bright idea
I have been using CT for ages I should look 18 but still look 52 🤣🤣
Try Sisley Paris ! It’s pricey but after working in the cosmetic industry, I found it really works.
lol
Thank you and i agree. Always a pleasure watching!
Good morning ☀️. I agree with you 398%😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi your honesty when reviewing a product makes my decision of whether to buy it easy. I have been watching you for years and continues to enjoy what you put out there, as a makeup artist in my opinion your the best. 😘
So I will believe it when I see it 😉
It is so not just you. I have never bought any of her products because of all the hyperbole.
You are so gorgeous with a naked face 😍💜
I know you love Charlotte Tilbury so it’s nice to see that you’re in a way calling her out ❤️. Her claims are ridiculous! Not a look good for her company and her.
I totally agree with your review! Thank you for your input!

Love your sense of hummer ! Thanks for your review that I trust 😁
If a product makes those kinds of claims I’m more likely not to believe it. Thanks for your honest opinions. Love you Wayne💕
She does great work, but please CT tone it down instead of turning the notch up 327% 😆
Your reviews are Always on point and really honest! Thank you!
CB lost credibility with me after the launch of "Collagen Lip Bath" LOL It's lip gloss.
🤣 That is the most ridiculous name ever!
Right? Plus it probably cost about 45 bucks. This is 80USD for a freaking oil, which is primarily olive. Absurd.
I like your honesty, which is rare to find on TH-cam these days. I have a medical background so I always read the ingredients list on skincare products, the ingredients used in comparison to claims made by some brands is laughable.
Dang it, I am 52 and my skin is still quite firm not that saggy, can you imagine 316% firmer? That would be concrete like!!! 🤣🤣
Thank you Wayne for your honesty 👍
Facial oils don't even penetrate the skin deep enough to do that. Serum? Yes (but still not 400%) but oils? No. What nonsense. Dermatologists probably laugh. Charlottes brand is slowly becoming goop.
I really appreciate you on your honesty and it really helps in this day and age with all the bullshit that PR try on people. Keep it up. Thankyou
It’s marketing bs and it’s insulting. For me it smacks of desperation and just cheapens the whole brand but sadly not the price. According to these percentages, I’ll be a foetus in no time at all🙄
Wayne, I love your approach to skin and make up 🥰
It's funny how they're like "we can make your skin firmer, smoother, and radiant by over 300 percent". But they can only cure your redness by 74 percent. Like, for that, your on your own lol
I dont read a lot of that. I used it and really liked it
