I've followed this guy's story for a while. I watched the GT movie last night at an early access event; holy crap. They really captured his story and the challenges of motorsports very well. Bravo.
@@bobmarley6306 Wrong, Nissan is about to have a movie, i bet he doesn´t own anything and signed a form to give his image away...Doubt he will make a cent out of this movie, hope he does make some but doubt it.
@kurok1tenshi I think you're wrong here tbh, the movie includes a lot of events from his life and he had creative input such as the choice to include certain events. Also the movie is effectively a character biography about him, and as well as creative input he was his own stunt double for the movie. Its certain that he will be getting a big payout for this movie.
Amazing movie and amazing inspiration! Jan your story will get me through this winter at home, your the man I wish I was 9 years ago, I didn't chase my dream, I stayed in school and choose the safe route, but seeing your one in a million story brought me to tears of happiness and appreciation. I found new dreams eventually and watching you makes me motivated to go all in for them. Thank you!
JANN THE MAN! Been following this dude for a while...FAST man. Remembered when he turned damned good times in the FR3.5 test a while back, as well as that solid win at Hockenheim in the GP3. Looking forward to more. Keep up the good work Drive.
Awesome to see Jann on here! Didn't even say anything to me about having a /DRIVEN episode featuring him. It's been a pleasure to be apart of the whole GT Academy program and work alongside Jann and the rest of the boys.
Someone to watch for. There are other forms of Motor racing beside F1. Just imagine beating out 90,000 others world-wide ! I hope his career progresses.
Cue the keyboard warriors defending their games! :) Let's face it, if you're the fastest in the world at a sim-aimed racing game you have the fundamental understanding of how to drive really fast and how to find time where everyone else can't. If you can translate this into real life like Jann, then you can be thrown in the deep end - competing against drivers who've been training for their whole lives. Sim racing is the future for finding talent. I can't wait until a GT Academy graduate gets into F1, I'll be trying my best too :D (UK finalist '14)
That's why I'm probably going to invest more time and money into racing sims than actual karting lol. Even if I got good at karting, I live in the US and there is no outlet to Formula 1 here.
MosbeckSB Not a bad idea! Karting is still mega fun and even if you can't succeed due to funding or whatever it is still a really useful thing to have on your CV! GT Academy is brutally competitive too so I'd make Karting the priority until you can't go further (If that ever happens!) All the best of luck!
MosbeckSB a mix of both, along with physical training would be better, trust me. I got eliminated from GT Academy ME '14 because I didn't have any actual track experience. Good luck and keep pushing.
mjdmzn I plan on doing karting in my spare time, because the reality is if I'm that good I'll progress, and if not I'll STILL have a karting hobby that I'll enjoy.
Good stuff, was lucky enough to go out in a car with Jann a couple of years ago in a Juke R. Awesome talent and a petrolhead through and through. Spent a good bit of time talking about his E30 318is and our mutual love of the 309 GTi.
We all have to admit that Nissan Nismo GT Academy broke a lot of conventional rules in motorsports. 2015 Bathurst was one of the living proof as we speak.
There is an awareness and reckless nature one needs to be good at automobile racing inborn. You can learn to drive well but to be truly fast and stay there requires a quality most rare. And work, lots of work and money.
Here I am, a 4th year chemistry student at OSU and all I've wanted to do for years is race cars but no one took me seriously and I never had the money or the car to start :P Oh and I didn't have a playstation either haha.
I had zero idea that this happened. It was when I saw the GT Movie trailer and it said it was "based on a true story", I was like "WHatt...?" Then I found out about this. Insane!!
Huge marketing move but they proved something nobody thought was possible. And to think the game was that realistic back in the early 2010’s is actually insane.
Who’s here after seeing the movie. Great movie. I remember trying to compete online. But never had the steering where or seat setup. You can only do so much with the controller
Thanks to the king of Gran Turismo and the Gran Turismo film the Gran Turismo 7 sales has surged ever since the Gran Turismo film came out. Without him where would Gran Turismo franchise be?

No driving game is a real sim. But gt is about the closest you will get the iRacing players will assure people that theirs is most realistic but none of them have ever driven and actual race car. Despite the fact that the game is not a complete sim it still shows whether someone has a talent for driving.
gt is not a sim lol. its an arcade game, when are people gonna realize. try a simulator and you will crash and burn if you thought gt was a sim, theres a reason 10 year olds play that game

It's also ridiculous that they chose the last corners of the Bugatti Circuit instead of the 24h hours course of Le Mans and modern LMP3 or LMP2 cars e.g. of Ligier instead of the car Mardenborough was driving originally in 2013, they also forgot to show the LMP1 in the racing scenes, got it less realistic when not all classes participated, what a pity, Jann Mardenborough deserves a much better movie, they also should have kept the original timeline, it started in 2011. It also would have been awesome if they had mentioned their 12h of Bathurst and Spa-Francorchamps glory and their 24h of Le Mans again in 2014 and their 24h of Fuji and the LMP1 cars of Nissan and the story that Jann Mardenborough also had made it to LMP1, formula 3, Super Formula (Japan) and Super GT (Japan) driving one of the most iconic and puristic racecars in the world. It's still giving me goosebumps, I love his story and I love the class-1-touringcars.
