Every film 'based on a true story' takes creative liberties cause it's meant to entertain, if it didn't might as well be an actual bio-pic. Even great films like Ford v Ferrari & Rush took creative licenses in some way. Most of the main story beats from the true life story of Jann are present in the film. Yes Jann wasn't the first winner like the film made it to believe but he was the youngest & has had the more interesting journey compared to other past winners which made translating to film easier to achieve.

A movie about a racing sim and real racing where you overtake by randomly finding that magical extra gear and pressing the gas pedal to the metal during a straight, but not only that, you overtake by down shifting mid corner and pressing the gas pedal to the metal. One thing doesn't exist and the other would make you spin out of control and crash your car.
The script is total cliché, with the regular sensationalist distortion of the real story, while the racing itself fails miserably.
The acting is ok but not great at any point, as the people involved obviously know nothing about racing, so the passion is not there.
Listen to any podcast or watch any documentary about the real driver on TH-cam and you'll have a lot of fun, because as always, the real story is always better and more magical than what Hollywood comes up with.
This movie is an insult to racing fans. Honestly it's an insult to anyone with a driving licence.

What disturbed me most was the amount of Foto-finishes… you can do that one time for more tension, the second time was like „really, again?“, the third time was like „no way… skip this slomo, there is Not and tension left, its getting boring“. Abt there were two times that in very important races there were gaps of 6 seconds to the needed Position in the last round. I mean come on… even on a long track like le mans that gap is too big on that Level. Without a mistake of your opponent, really bad tyres or technical issues there is no way to reach and overtake.
And the overtakes were strange, too. Downshifting at the apex to turn inside and just pass the opponent is not how it works on this Level, its in the Breaking Zone or entrance, wurde you chose your line, or it is the better exit that lets you pass the next few hundret meters.
And i have to say: no sim-driver on his Level would drive with visible ideal line. And sometimes another line is fastet or brings you in position to attack, but in the movie he just drives every curve wide - in reality that can wird when your tyres have much more grip, but i have never seen a Professional driver doing this in every single curve in a row. The others are pro-drivers, their lines are not so bad that the long way around is faster… i know they try to make it entertaining and dramatic, but a bit more realism would have been better - i think many people watching this movie know about real racing. Rush was better regarding credibility.
I still liked the movie, the Story and the actora were Food and the racing scenes were great im visual aspects

I'm much older than Jann, but I raced with him when we were in a league called "Race World Series." After my experience with Forza (many years), I wanted something better, but still in the Xbox console. That game was "Race Pro." Made by the guys that made the SimBim race simulation for PC. It played like a PC on the Xbox. I found the league because there were few places to race console games without assists, and without the races just being a few laps. Jann won the Independent Driver award and I won it the next season. Jann was also getting into the Gran Turismo game. Not because if was better than Race Pro, but because it had a pretty fantastic prize for winning. He called us during a race and told us he won the whole thing. Gran Turismo is just another race movie that gets the actual racing all wrong. :Like the things with the driving line and his ability to pass whenever he felt like it. But you can get an ulcer waiting for a race movie to be authentic. So I'll keep waiting for something that tells the truth. p.s. I'm racing on iRacing now, and I've won a few things here and there, but I'm no alien. Funny thing, they made another movie about something I did as a kid, racing up on Mullholland Highway. That movie was called "King of the Mountain," and it was just as realistic as "Gran Turismo."

The movie was really good. But 3 things really frustrated me in the movie. First is the fact that this true story happened in like 2010 but we see him playing gt7 which is the newest game. Second is when they push him in the wall in the race. Like, bro that would be an IMMEDIATE disqualification. The races in this game are less realistic, but depic what races in the actual gt games look like lmao. Honestly if I was Jann, idk how I'd feel about them putting unrealistic racing in a movie about my life story. Third, in 4 races in the movie, the virtual race, gt academy race, 4th place race, and le mans, Jann has a photo finish in all of them, which not only makes it boring to happen 4 times, but it's also very rare for that to happen irl.
