    Here's a tip from a guy with arthritis, under 60 = Good advice here, one thing that can help if you have knee pain (and lower back pain) is to get in a bent knee position (in Karate or martial arts it's called the "Horse position") while doing the dishes, brushing teeth or other similar movements you do every day. Bend your knees while up to the sink - it takes pressure off of the lower back immediately, but also will keep those knees in a bent, not locked-out position = your knees and lower back will thank you. I also do knees over toes for extreme knee bending, but I do it safely and under control via a suspension trainer. These pains kept me from lifting weights, which I've done since my early teens, but some minor adjustments and good practices, like those described in this vid, will help and has helped me get back into serious weightlifting - not at loads of my 20s-40s but enough to grow and maintain muscle.

    Thank you for a very informative video. I would like to add two things that I found to damage my knees: #1 lifting objects that are too heavy for me. My orthopedist told me when I tore my meniscus that it was because i lifted several boxes of books that day and I felt the tearing. #2 I went to an exercise class in the swim pool and I was asked by teacher to make BIG CIRCLES with my hanging knee. Again MD said the tortion of the knee caused my other injury during that class.

    The practice that hurt my knee was that I knelt often at work while installing exhibits. This was on carpeting, and I reached side to side getting tools, paint can etc. This twisting went into my left knee and eventually tore the mensicus. I should have been wearing hard-shell knee pads and not twisting so much.

    Exercise of all kinds and stretching has always been in my life every day. My destress plan. However, I discovered that when you fracture your ankle and tear many main ligaments, the boot you have to wear plays havok with your knee. I got permission to do these specific exercises from my PT so I am doing these exercises. Thank you, I am seeing slow, but definite improvement! I do have to keep watching the videos, for accuracy, but they are working. 😊

    I've had HORRIBLE knee problems for 15 years. I finally found something, thanks to my ortho doc that works very well.
    Synvisc!
    It feels exactly like having oil put in and all around the knee.
    It lasts 5- 6 months.
    Quite honestly, it makes it where I can 'live' again.
    I can't recommend it more.

    All of your videos are interesting and very helpful. One observation though. For knee health you suggest NOT landing on the heel but on the toe area or flat. When I did that I was prone to tripping and have intense fear of falling/injury. So I land on my heels in order to keep my toes elevated a tiny bit to avoid tripping. I'm a klutz -- I can and have tripped on a clean floor - its not that there are tripping hazards around, it seems to be how I walk. I attempt to keep my knees "soft" and follow other instructions other times but I DO NOT want to fall and injure myself.

    Worst things you can do to your knees are not drink enough water to keep the cartilage soft and spongy, and, run on cement. Not drinking enough water will cause the cartilage in your knees to harden. Running on cement sidewalks will destroy your knees.

    I've started doing the stationary bike, the recumbent where you sit back, and I worry about the knee pain. It's not too bad but I don't want to create a problem. I looked it up and it said it's strengthening the muscle around the knees?

    • @She_it_her
      @She_it_her หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not an expert, but I have a background in personal training. I know working your way up to a normal upright stationary bike is much better for you overall because it strengthens all muscles of the leg as well as the entire core (including the lower back). Even if you hold onto the handles, low resistance, and slow cadence, this is still better than moving faster or with more resistance on a recumbent bike. Definitely ask someone if you aren’t sure about proper form. Many personal trainers are fine giving advice m/tips for free when it comes to simple form checks.

    • @MissBabalu102
      @MissBabalu102 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@She_it_her Oh Ok. I'll keep that in mind, especially if I buy one. I also want a new bike cruiser, for fun. I have a low back vertebrae out of alignment, and I guessed recumbent would put less strain. I don't know, it's a learning process.
