Just started watching full episodes after seeing so many of Theo's shorts. This podcast just really shows the full range Theo has and he is secretly smart as hell.

damn, that might have been some of the most profound interpretations about addiction that i've ever heard. it's so true, it gets to the point where life becomes black and white, there's no middle ground, minor threats, or even small comforts. if there's a scale that starts -10 to positive 10, it's like we widen the scale to -100 to +100, but we've removed -99 to +99.

Anyone discussing stoicism, and philosophy in congruent with our truth and our faith based morality is a big WIN.

I respect the fact Theo was lost, as was I, on a few of the philosophical concepts and instead of bs’n he spoke up and tried to understand what was being said.

Marcus Auralius book Meditations is still one of the most beautifully articulated book, which was never meant to be a book. But a journal written to Marcus HIMSELF who wrote in the beautifully descriptive Greek language, even though his main language was obviously Roman. If you use the truth Christ taught “not westernized confused Christianity” is about the smartest thing a man could do
Also insanely humble for being the Great Ruler of the Romans. So pious. 🙏

Modern stoicism omits the pantheistic core of traditional stoicism. The modern focus is simply on the Ethics, but Physics (Logos/Pneuma) and Logic are the other pillars.

@6:20 Everyone, especially men, would benefit from studying the Tao Te Ching. Eastern Philosophy covers what western philosophy forgot: the heart. You are a human being with emotions and an intellect. But Western philosophy trained us to rationalize everything; to reject emotions in reasoning; to fight chaos; to dislike and resist disorder and darkness; To discount these “feminine” aspects of life… as if they’re not supposed to exist.
Eastern philosophy teaches you why these beliefs and this resistance IS the problem. You cannot win that fight. You can NEVER get rid of pain and suffering; there IS no order without chaos; no joy without pain; no such thing as light without dark; and without disorder, there’d be no change.
There IS no such thing as a purely rational human being because every single one of us has a mixture of masculine and feminine aspects in our personality. You’re not meant to dominate your feelings, nor are men meant to dominate leadership roles. You’re meant to balance your mind and heart and develop the character and wisdom to have good judgment and discernment. Western philosophy doesn’t get that. Which is why western men believe they’re meant to rule ALWAYS. Eastern philosophy teaches you why that’s not so.
Western philosophy also made us forget that darkness isn’t always bad, neither is disorder, nor absurdity. Y’all’s… things happen that don’t make sense…. It’s why we love Theo so much! He throws random curveballs, and that’s the positive side of absurdity! I ADORE philosophy and highly suggest everyone become a “lover of Sophia”… but Western philosophy really did a number on our understanding of the world and human nature. Balance your understanding with Eastern philosophy and you’ll be walking out of Plato’s cave in no time! XX

I think AI will or can have a positive effect on humanity if we use AI to provide the replacement income we lose due to AI and robotics. That frees us up to new levels of volunteerism, helping others, bettering the planet, etc.

Marcus Aurelius had some deeply profound quotes in his meditations but most of it was just extremely self evident like a self help book, its so overrated because everyone watched Gladiator.
