Having fly fished for 40 years I have never seen such skill with the presentation BUT, the stunning beauty of the video work is awesome. Thank you for all your work and efforts.
That's wonderful to hear. Thank you for sharing that with us. We dug in on a few shots this day for sure and some amazing things came together for us. We certainly didn't have much room for error! And what a location for that fly fishing! Isn't it a stunning location? Love it! 😍😍🍻
Always love the commentary more than the music. I enjoy hearing your thoughts/narration 100% of the time while the music can be hit or miss. Another beautiful stream regardless! Thank you for sharing this adventure with us.
Yes, we get that many folks do like that, which is why a lot of what we film now includes time on the GoPro camera which picks up our voices. Music is a personal preference thing but necessary for slow-mo footage which doesn't allow audio. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching.
:) thank you for the continued sentiment. We do hope it connects in a bigger way but like all things in life the evolution is just beginning and things take time :)
Loved that evening drive back and those flamingos. The only ones we saw in our month in Argentina and Dave stuck with them as they lift off, circled and landed at the far end of the drying pond. Wonderful one chance filming :)
Glad you enjoyed this one as well! Amazing days in life, these 😊 we're thrilled we could get much of it on video and share it. The landscape and scenery were amazing 😍🍻
Thank you for that - glad you enjoyed it. It was a challenge to take hfr video with no audio and create a video set to music. These aren't easy ones to piece together when shooting 180 frames/second! :) This one took 2 days editing. It was worth the time as we love some of the slow mo shots of birds and fish :)
It is a gorgeous region, though if you swapped vegetation for tussocks it would look eerily similar. Different plants adapted for the same regions as Canterbury high country - rain shadow and wind! :)
There's really nothing better is there? Nothing to be jelly about, we know you're not really, it's just nice to enjoy this stuff isn't it? Heck we're still awed by what these cameras capture these days :)
@@jensenflyfishing it’s not just that. With our Alberta season coming to a close fairly soon, and being fairly certain you two will be off in some exotic destination filming/catching these incredible fish. I’ll be here, freezing 🥶 I’m sure even more epic content from your travels is to come this off season, can’t wait to see it
@@chriseggs3447 we hear you on the winter thing. Last year was the first in 14 home. It was long and hard tho we had an easy winter here in Pincher. We're heading to Magic Waters Lodge in Chile for nearly 3 months so there will be Sat am videos from there starting about the 3rd Saturday of Nov. We're actually busting out butts editing Thursday videos and pre-scheduling them so we have 1 a week from Alberta and 1 a week from Chile most of this winter. That's the plan so hope we can pull that off! 🤞 hope it's a good trip!
4:48 to 4:55 - Priceless! Love how that second twitch sold it. The East Branch of the Delaware, referenced previously, is a tailwater that has the character of a spring creek. I fish it regularly and have used many of your techniques with good success. Honestly wouldn't believe the difference the use of very long leaders make until I committed to it this season. The truth is, that fishing's only as good as you are! And you two would kill it anywhere. Good luck in Chile and can't wait for new vids.
We knew what he was talking about for sure - the bigger talking point is in asking why people are so keen to say "that won't work here" to any video or article when, clearly, the video was sharing how the fishing was on a specific piece of water. It's like a video of building a snowman in the arctic and saying that you can't build a snow man in the desert. Who knew? ;) But to your point the long leader game changes a lot once you get used to the dynamics of casting and casting different combinations of flies, droppers, etc. :)
Thanks guys that looks like so much fun. If you are ever in Australia I would love to host you. I think that you would be very surprised at the quality of fishing in the high country. Cheers Adam.
I really love your channel Amelia and Dave. As you can note I'm from Argentina too. It seems like a river into a private big estancia, with 60/70km of river in there isn't? You won a new suscriptor for sure. Next time in BA let me know and could let you fish Golden Dorados on DryFly at 200km from the city!

Brilliant video, don’t worry about handling them so carefully, you should knock them all on the head and have a nice fry up. In Patagonia, trout have led to a decrease in tadpoles and frogs, crustaceans and native fish like the Patagonian smallmouth perch (Percichthys trucha) and the Patagonian silverside (Odontesthes microlepidotus). They also threaten the survival of water birds, such as the hooded grebe (Podiceps gallardoi), a fragile native species. Loved the slow mo takes, wonderful camera work 👍
Glad you enjoyed the video. 😊 Man has been the worst perpetrator of alien propogations. Grain crops where there were none, chickens, cattle, forestable tree species, and on and on it goes. Sport fisheries and fish farming are right there as well. None of us eat nor exist without provision of some environment altering implementation. And we all seem to have our lines that are acceptable on one hand but unacceptable on the other. We're all part of a mass herd that's trampling over the earth and as they say... you can't stop a herd. Hopefully we can steer it tho! 🍻
You guys are so skilled! What a beautiful setting too. I just picked up the sport in the last year and was wondering if the false casts in some of the shots were to try and get the correct distance, or for another reason? I’m finding that getting the right distance on my casts is a challenge.
We're fishing here with 15' leaders to lay the fly in without disturbing the fish. On that size a stream you can imagine that doesn't leave much room for rod length or much fly line and casting 3 feet of fly line and 15' of leader requires a little more line speed and an extra start up flase cast. Other scenes... yes... imperative to set the casting trajectory and feel the distance otherwise you miss the opening in the weeds or wind up in the bush. Best advice? Practice with a plastic dinner plate in your backyard and try to lay your fly on it from varying distances. Any cast that touches the plate is a winner. See if you can get 8 or 9 of 10 from 20 to 25' from your body. Short casts with long leaders are hard but practise gets you there! 🍻

The rational, lower case text answer to your question is that it was filmed in hfr video meaning there is actually no audio track, unfortunately. The upside is the slow mo eats and really cool video of the Rhea feet in full flight. The downside is it's virtually impossible to work with for a longer video. Thank you for asking.
