Actually seems like a good movie, but a few things I would change in a rewrite change Talia to Pamela Isley and Have Lex Luthor finance Maxwell Lord's Operation I would include more Henchmen for Lord (Captain Cold, Metallo, Star Sapphire, Cheetah, Scarecrow)
Justice League Mortal clearly needed work, and the most ironic thing about how Warner first did the DCEU and somewhat confirmed by Zack Snyder is that their plan was to have a Justice League trilogy, preceded by Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, and with solo movies as spin-offs, an inverse of the MCU, which of course, failed miserably. Here's hoping James Gunn sets thing right.
Another great episode of Legend of Fandom from the blockbuster buster. I remember when I heard about this director Geogre Miller making a Justice League movie. Man would have been amazing if they made this justice league movie besides the other ones.
13:12-13:19 Back in 2009 it wouldn’t have much of an issue to have a brainwashed Superman fight Wonder Woman (it’s would’ve been a big set piece for sure as shown in movies storyboards) but cut to 2023 and it’s a trope that’s gotten overused a lot of which ruins the intrigue of seeing the Man of Steel going rogue
Batman's weakness isn't love. Batman's weakness is the unbridle scourge that is ... *ROCK* *&* *ROLL* ! They should have injected him with nanites that play Nickleback over and over again in his head.
I wish we got an animated movie version of this with these actors playing characters. Adam Brody has proved he is a better actor than Ezra Miller with his work on Shazam as Hero version of Freddy Freeman or Capt Marvel Jr.
Uh, the Blockbuster Buster lives again??? Am I wrong? Someone let me know if I'm wrong. But TBH, I find you the better Nostalgia Critic than the ACTUAL NOSTALGIA CRITIC! You entertain and intrigued me everytime with your videos, so good video, ERod. I look forward to more.
Great video. While I think George Miller is a fantastic director, when you hear the other details (including getting it done in a year!) you kind of see why this project folded. Also if you took a drink every time the word "nanites" was said you are probably reading this in the hospital.
Oh and I forget if there's been a video of this but all the various Batman films that didn't happen would be cool, such as the Darren Aronofsky year one where Alfred is a mechanic called Al or the original Batman v Superman that Wolfgang Petersen was going to do
Theres interesting ideas I suppose Talias inclusion could be seen as a nod back to Ra's use of Batman's plans in Tower of Babel Taking out GL feels a little off as that solution was specific to Kyle Rayner as a artist as opposed to Jon Stewart as an ex marine. Lastly it's interesting they would use and then kill of Barry as Flash given that by the time it was released originally Barry would have been back as main Flash by June 2009 and this would have diverged from comics status quo
I wish you good luck on it. Although I'm not going to, as I'm now retired of DC and Marvel. No offense, Hewy, and no hard feelings. But still, I will rewatch: • DC Animated Universe. • Marvel Animated Features. • DC Universe Original Animated Movies.
Eh it's hard to say how that movie would have ended up since we only have the first draft to go by. With that being said, it's probably better that this movie was shelved. The movie would work better within an existing continuity and not as a big budget premiere feature. There is clearly undefined history between these characters in the script which would need answering but it probably wouldn't have been. Given how things have ended up, it's probably for the better it didn't happen.
It’s weird how this proposed film seems to be heading towards a lot of the same mistakes the Snyderverse eventually made; trying to do too much all at once (seriously, Tower of Babel would probably make a decent film on its own, why add in everything else?) and trying to make everything dark and grim without really having a point to that grimness
I feel like we shouldn't be too hard on this film by its initial script. I've read an earlier draft of John Carpenter's "The Thing" and it was quite a different animal in terms of details. For instance, Dr. Copper survives Norris-Thing revealing itself so HE can be the one Palmer-Thing kills during the blood tests. Windows (called Sanchez in this version) is killed during the slasher-like rampage the Thing goes on during the climax, while the crew are setting the base to explode. Also, the tractor still works and MacReady uses it to drive through the base's walls. But, more importantly, Palmer-Thing in this version shows that it's capable of multitasking, as it tries to kill MacReady while assimilating Copper.
I'm surprised it took this long to get around to this film. I would have thought it would have been one of the first to be covered under Legends of Fandom
The script is definitely a first draft and I think things would have been more fleshed out had the writers strike not screwed them. It sucks because it had potential.
Curious to know what you think of the Zack Snyder cut of the Justice League in comparison to your initial review of the theatrical cut. Or perhaps you could do a Legends of Fandom on the Snyderverse. (Kevin smith kind of touched upon the original JL movies on his podcast which be a point of a reference).
I would've at least liked to have seen a second draft of the script. First drafts are always ridiculous, you just write and throw in everything and the kitchen sink. Just to see what the story is. Then you work on scaling back and finding the heart of the script.
Please actually read up on what "fridging" it. This isn't the first video that you used it wrong. Fridging is the term used for killing a female character for the sole purpose of motivating a male character and kicking off a story. In this script, Batman's motivations and goals are established long before Talia's death and remain his primary focus AFTER her death. Just because a female character dies in a story... its not "fridging".
Isn’t the magic thing with Superman that his powers don’t protect him from things like a spell that puts people to sleep, not that he’s allergic to magic?

2:46-2:51 Personally I think Avatar was only successful because a lot of the big blockbusters from that year were such big disappointments and that something which looked amazing visuals wise and was a somewhat original idea was just going to do a lot better than the competition
I don’t think this would’ve worked well. Too much going on with characters we wouldn’t have known or cared about. That’s what the OG Avengers movie got so right - we knew all the characters and so watching their worlds collide was super fun. The WB approach has always been so backwards. Hopefully JG can get it right but I’m skeptical.
I really do think Mortal could've worked if they just spent more time giving the script some much needed rewrites. Otherwise, I'm actually kinda glad it didn't happen.
Not a huge fan of what JL Mortal would be like (It just feels like another attempt of DC/Warner to turn their heroes dark and gritty for the sake of it) but I really some of it's idea can be used in James Gunn DCU, like Wally being the main Flash or having the main villain wanting to eliminate the meta humans (which could easly have connection with the events of Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, and possibly the upcoming Amanda Waller's TV show)
While this sounds like it'd be an interesting film and would've been a better movie than Snyders (Don't @ me), I think it'd be an unwise idea to go for the Tower of Babel story for the first movie in the supposed DC film universe. If it were me writing the script, the inspirations I'd use would be DC's The New Frontier (which I am currently in the middle of reading) and the two episodes of the JL animated series "Secret Origins" and "Star-crossed". Yes, I would have the Thanagarians as the lead antagonist, and Hawkgirl(Shayera Hol) would've been the seventh league member, not Aquaman. The idea of the League is to face threats no single hero can face, like an army of invading aliens. I'd replace Maxwell Lord with Lex Luthor who is a minor antagonist in this film starting an anti-superhero campaign to become president (one that obviously doesn't work). Talia and Wally are nowhere to be found and are saved for future sequels. Feel free to reply if you want to know my future DCU 10 plan.
A few years ago I read George Miller's Justice League script and I didn't like it. The plot was too overloaded, we were given heroes with a vague past, which is hypothetically the same as in the comics, but without details, as well as their motives: - why did Batman decide to collect information on how to kill all the heroes, if they are all good here and have long proven themselves? - why does Aquaman not have one arm, and what connects him with Diana? - when and how did Hal Jordan die? - why does Max Lord take revenge on superheroes and not on the government that experimented on him (is this a hint about the Justice Society or something)? - why was Flash killed in the first film debut? Should I add to this Lord's strange plan to turn all people on earth into cyborgs through fast food? Well, the casting raises questions - if the actors chosen for the roles of Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Barry and Wally at least visually suffered in their images, then the rest is a complete miscast.
i would have liked for it to come out if only to see that Wonder Woman on screen , she is so hot, i can't believe they delayed it because of christopher nolan's movies , he sucks

Hey E-Rod that version of the Justice League movie is way worse than the Josh Whedon version of the Justice League. If I was ever the writer I can write a better Justice League story than that.
