Snyder makes a great cinematographer. He really knows how to visualize a scene. As a director, or a storyteller, not so much. Rebel Moon solidified this reality.
Definitely. I respect his visual talent. I felt in movies like 300 and Dawn of the Dead it fit the style he was going for. But as far as storytelling and character, I feel he's a bit "Michael Bay but with slow-mo instead of just explosions"
Sometimes too much of out of focus shots and slow motion. But the watchmen, especially the birth of Dr Manhattan is one of the best things that happened to movie industry imo.
I'm a big, big comic book fan (Hal Jordan is my favourite character), and I loved Snyder's Universe for what it was. It was always shaping up to be an Injustice take and I accepted it for what it was... An Elseworlds story and a really cool one at that. I'm even more excited for the "Gunnverse" because it's the first time we get to explore the Supers' world, where they've been active for decades, and not have them coming into ours. I'm gutted that Hal isn't going to be the main Lantern of that universe, but so much else is looking positive, that I say bring it on!!!

What the trailer did right away was to get us to see connect with Superman as a *man,* not an aloof, alien god. We see him hurt. We hear him wheeze. The camera shows a close-up as his eye moves, getting us to make eye contact, an important part of human empathy. It emphasizes that Superman is a guy, really, who just happens to have these superpowers, and decides to do good things with them. He has a job, and a girlfriend/wife, and a dog, and the dog has a little cape too, because it's adorable. It's that human connection that then makes all of the legendary and epic scale actions work, because they're human stories, just writ large. That connection is why we see Superman as hopeful, because he's an example that, if Superman can have all that power, and still choose to be good and kind and humble, then maybe we can do the same. While we don't drag asteroids around or punch monsters, all of us, with the exception of the most ill or ailing, will have some sort of degree of power over someone else. Superman shows us that we don't *have* to ruthlessly exploit that power, or callously act for our own gain. Those are choices that we make, and just as he chooses to act with restraint, compassion, and mercy, we can *choose* to do the same. Superman isn't meant to be realistic, he's meant to be aspirational, and I think that's why the bleak, cynical Snyderverse failed, and this new trailer has been such a huge hit. It just feels good, and refreshing.

Yes, you are right that most of the fans (or at least the ones who have been doing reaction videos to this trailer) always repeat the word 'Hope'. Over and over again. While as a kid I also loved Superman very much, when I grew up I became much more critical about the character and what it really represents. Yes, the naive and well-intentioned fandom thinks he represents Hope. And Gunn himself says that Superman represents the ideals of freedom and the 'American way of life'. Really? Don't you remember how turned out the wars on terror in Afghanistan (2001-2021) and Iraq (2003-2008), or the 'Responsability To Protect' in Lybia in 2011, where supposedly USA invaded those countries to bring them hope, freedom and a portion of the American way of life but ended up leaving them devastated and sometimes transformed into failed states? I hear the fandom to say 'Superman means Hope to the World', and of course they naively think that USA is a beacon of Hope for the World too. I don't see how much Hope really Superman (USA) represented for the Iraqis, Afghans and Lybians, or how much Hope represent for the Palestinean women and childrens, who are murdered in Gaza every single day for the dozens or hundreds by US-made missiles and bombs used by the State of israel. Hope? Come on, boys, wake up!! The world sucks! And much of this 'suck' is because of this naive American mindset of believing themselves 'Superman' (savors of the world). Iraq, Afghnaistan and Lybia are very gratefull of you being their saviors... (Sarcasm). Please, don't save anybody else, let the World alone, we will be much better without you. Do you want to really save the World? Stop selling weapons to Israel, that would help a lot...
I think Gunn was just quoting the old phrase of "truth, justice, and the American way" which was tied to the character, pointing to the fact he wants a more classic Superman. @@wildermidnight things could certainly go wrong, but I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt based on Gunn's previous work.
opposite for me, i tried really hard to like him but he is a block of wood not a good superman.
@@mythosinmedia It can't be worse than the snyderverse.
When the best depiction Cavil got for Superman, was the Josstice League reshoots, speaks to the reason why Snyder’s Superman sucked so fucking much
@@krisr4285 wow, I can't disagree with this at all and it's a tough comment 😅
I think you might be taking it a bit too literally and taking it far into spaces the movie and the character aren't meant to address. It's your take and I respect it, but not everything needs to be that seriously political.
Snyder is a fine director as long as he is not the writer. His writing is not very good.
@@dblshotz75 I agree in part. He has an amazing visual style. His shot composition is unbelievable. Where I feel he struggles as a director is in directing actors. It feels like his directing to them is either "be intense or be stoic"
Superman trailer edit with "Heroes Are Hard to Find" by Twisted Sister
th-cam.com/video/4P_bCvWZVLk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=HsSjHHaP6KZzWqc_
This trailer is a masterpiece of psych manipulation, from the reeves movies we get the music, the font style/coloring , even the fade in animation is all from the reeves movies, from the timmverse we get all the cameos from the justice league unlimited, for animal lovers we get kripto, for the fans of the live action tv series we get all the scenes with him an lois, also the sound design is just plain genius, they tickle the right parts of your brain, you can hear the kid calling for superman BEFORE he appears, you can hear the whistle for cripto again at the ending, also they show him first down and out to ground him and make it relatable, wich is the number one problem with superman, the guy is literally a god so too make him relatable and "human". this teaser has so MUCH nostalgia pandering that is insane, and that is not a bad thing
@@enriquedossantos3283 I mean, it's the point of a trailer to get people excited about the movie, but many trailers don't accomplish what this one did. So, definitely well crafted
Being a Batman fan is a normie thing to be but being a Superman fan while everyone else is fan of Batman is what make me a Superman fan XD

@@alexanderjermaineabrahams1615 I did put him in the video near the end of the cameos, because I realized while recording I forgot to mention him 😅😅😅
Issues with doing this video without a script, but I did do a mention to him there.

My trailer reaction got so many views and subs, I hope this video does the same for you.
I'm not personally a fan of The Authority at all, I really dislike them, but I think a contrast between them and a really hopeful, idealistic Superman sharing the same cinematic universe could be very cool.
i dont think his looking a Lois in the planet i think his looking at the news and that Boy that calls him that raises the flag. i this this takes lois and Clark to that country where lois will interact with Terrif and Superman save those poepl
@@alexanderjermaineabrahams1615 that could totally be the case. Thanks! I was going off the way the sequence played out in the teaser, but it could DEFINITELY be what you're saying.
I still think he looks perfectly dopey in that scene and I love that 😊
@@mythosinmedia but i can be totally wrong and Gunn just playing with us. he had enough time to learn that from Marvel🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
JG did the suicide squad and that movie was trash nobody watching creature commandos peacemaker also was meh dont get your hopes up Superman is so weak that a dog needs to save him
@@ricchoder2983 the first one was trash and that one was directed by David Ayer, not James Gunn. The second one was amazing, but flopped because of the bad reputation the first one created and the fact people were already soured on the DCEU by then.
@mythosinmedia the first one was butchered by the studio so we never saw what David Ayer had planned and by your logic that means his Superman is gonna flop bc of the bad reputation about man of steel and people are still SOUR about DC 😂😆😂😆😂😆 that's why he had to use guardians of the galaxy instead of the three DC projects he already has done for the trailer bc he was only good at marvel and this should be called Superman and friends bc JG can't make a standalone superhero film
Gunn is packing too many characters into his Superman movie. The average moviegoer has never heard of people like the Engineer and Mr. terrific. The film should focus on the core Superman characters and one villain.
We don't know that for certain, and there could be a compelling narrative reason why this is. I can't wait to see it.
@@robkenyon6949 I think based on what Gunn has said that will actually be the case. These are just characters that will be Intro as part of an existing team and other than Mr. T won't have a huge role in the movie. It will most likely be a movie clearly about Superman, with these background characters as part of the existing universe.
Can’t be afraid of that none of those characters outside of Mr . Terrific will have a big role. We complain about the same rehashed stuff don’t we
the average movie goer didnt know about rocket racoon or groot now they are halloween costumes.
@@ClarkorSuperman Snyder’s overstuffed, confusing plot lines were one of the reasons those movies failed.

So you are implying that snyders dark gritty reality superman was portrayed badly and sup should be only for kids not for adults and i was waiting when we will get superman darkside arc in snyderverse( i like that comic and final crisis ) .So henry cavill superman was failure but i thought he looked cool as sup.Well new superman teaser is good but he is looking very weak and simple .i don't it's just my gut feeling

@mythosinmedia ya he didn't get another chance .And i really like your criticism on mos which is very important to criticize and point out important points. But some people are just bubbling stupid hate on mos
Which is stupid and funny 🤣.

Why do you assume the trailer was a hit? Because it got views? It’s going to take more than social media views for this movie to be a success.
@@richardrussell1930 views, like to dislike ratio, social media reaction, positive articles and commentary on it. It's quantifiable. But I would turn the question back to you, why do you feel it wasn't a hit?

Only 6% of the votes are downvotes on the main TH-cam upload of the trailer. It has clearly been well received overall and you’re just noticing the vocal minority.
Because of the overwhelming positive reception.
Well yeah the movie is not out yet but there has been an overwhelming good response to it based on the teaser. They track all that stuff and if the movie is good it’s gonna be a hit.
I still think they butchered the john williams theme. There are composers on youtube who have done better refreshing covers of the theme.
@@anthonyt1t5 I think since we're only hearing one small portion of it, it might be too early to determine. Also remember sometimes the music you hear I'm a teaser trailer isn't exactly what you get in the movie. I think this might be a small portion of a larger theme.
