I approve of this! Quick extra tip: if you shoot most parts of both sides on an enemy solo boat in succession, they can't bucket it all and you win without even needing to board (if you really don't like deckfights)

I’ve never heard “win or learn mentality”. Love it, and shorter way to say what I’m constantly telling my casual SoT friends that have a hard time wanting to play after an L, even if we win multiple fights
You have literally made me an absolute monster with helming and cannons! Forget the 1 million subscriber plus channels that tell you how to steer and shoot I’m going to you from now on! 👍
Awesome video mate. Question, when you said if they go left at the start you parallel and want to be faster than them and shoot for a bit, what comes next? I'm guessing you eventually wanna turn in so they either nose you or are forced to enter an orbital? Or do you just keep paralleling?
Great question! The idea is to get ahead of them and turn left to make them nose you, ideally you can chop their mast too, The main advantage of taking this parallel is that they have the downside giving their right side to you. 🙂
this works on players convinced they always need to keep they sails half-raised :D but they can just slightly turn in the same direction and keep shooting, or even nose for a brief moment if the distance allows to shoot with the left.
I like to put wood crate next to mast, (back right pointing at stairs), and cannonball crate right beneath cannon, if I buy storage crate I place it on the grate and fill with chains food wood and cannonballs
I bucket at mid-deck, and repair when: 1. I have right side holes, 2. The opponent is dead and cant cannon, 3. I am waiting on my turn to cannon again / I cant hit cannons from current position
How is all of this not just the obvious thing to do? I mean telling people to prioritise keeping angle more over mast could help but i feel like there are much more important tips about helming and cannon aim, as well as pressure management.
I have to ask what kept you motivated? Because I'm only level 200 and that's because there is nothing between 200 and 1000 For rewards. I understand completely that the golden skeleton is pretty darn cool. but Between 200 and the golden skeleton. What kept you motivated to that?
Risk ur mast, sometimes allowing them to be winning (especially if the runner is inexperienced) can help them have the confidence to stay in the fight. I generally follow with full sail and focus their mast, and then raise my sails again!
this is a good guide but for me the waves make my canon shots so bad (i shoot a canon its not high enough so i aim up a tiny bit then it goes over the ship)

When the opponent runs away to make repairs it can be a little frustrating bc it means that you were winning and they turned out wasting ur time and supplies, but I like to take it as a positive and to understand that I am winning / scaring them off. My main strategy to re-engage, is to either full sail straight at them, with a slight turn to keep left side pointed at them, or to simply allow them to reset (if they are too far away to bother chasing) and re-engage after. If they turn out often then lt becomes time to chase them constantly and close distance, if it’s the first or second reset then I’ll let them reset unless I can chain their mast!

Does anyone have any tips on keeping a focused mindset during fights, I'm great with PVE but I have ADHD which I believe makes it so much harder for me, for some reason when i'm agaist a real player my heart rate goes through the roof, I tense up and really struggle keeping my hand to eye coordination and concentration in order, and pretty much lose every time, especially when I'm outnumbered even with just a 1 vs 2 man crew sloop battle, if it's 2 or more players on anything more than a sloop I'm basically fucked if I wasn't already. It's definetly more prominent when I've got more to lose with a ship full of treasure as I'm always thinking about the loss and the time that would be wasted which is one of my biggest hatreds and only makes it harder to accept, wasting time. But even without anything to lose, I still can't concentrate like I cant with PVE, it all stresses me out so much, I've never been into PVP but this game doesn't often allow me to just chill and get high, while sailing around and exploring/adventuring like I want to, and the safer seas thing they announced pisses me off still because they're treating it as something for new players, especially with the 30% rewards and level 40 emissary cap (the reduction I get but 30% still feels drastic, and the level cap just feels stupid, I'm already above 40 on all my emissaries, what happens now? Will I even get to do the Athena stuff on there?) They're not thinking about people like me that simply don't want a part in that side of the game. I feel like i'm missing something key in PVP, cause this is often a problem for me in other games too, and the reason I've always stuck to singleplayer or PVE games, which obviously isn't making me any better for when a game does involve PVP, hence my problem right now. I want to branch out into more of this kind of gaming but I just feel so behind in skill to everyone else being a casual or singleplayer/solo gamer all my life, and like I'm never gonna be able to catch up, I don't have the time or energy to commit hours of my life every day to improve, so should I just give up trying or what? there's way too many sweats in games nowadays its all way too unbalanced for people like me, and I just feel neglected in all the new content games are releasing with competitiveness as the focus. Thank you for reading if anyone did, and any advice would be super appreciated.
I would recommend putting yourself in pvp situations on a duo sloop, this way it’s not entirely on you to win, but it is still pvp, that way you can learn with the help of a crewmate. So if you can find a duo to queue hourglass with or just hop servers and fight any boat you see, that would be helpful! PvP in most games has a tough learning curve, but the only way to get used to it is to immerse yourself in it and learn! Try and learn from any mistake you make in PvP and come out a stronger player!
my strat is i cant be asked for navel so i just shoot over with pistol snipe and try and get on their boat, once i make it on i camp them till they leave
@@massivespongeold Just saying, all in all its a really good guide, but I did know all of that as I've been playing for a long time over the course of 3 years, but doesnt matter how much i learned when i end up getting one balled constantly
I absolutely understand this mentality, I mainly recommend buying captain fruit however, as it can be very helpful as you don’t have to eat three coconuts on every hit!
Great video but be careful with your sound levels. At some points you can barely hear what you say cuz the music is too loud. Your voice should always be louder than the music
paralel position is a thing we dont want we want an advantage so its important gaining that advantage first so we should watch the opponents movements direction and counter it if he wants to give cannons angle turning we should turn before him if they want to keep the distance sooo try to be close them is a mistake just an universal thing opponent is a prey so we want to hunt them there is not a certain thing to achive this u should keep your eyes open
I think I understand some of what you are saying, however there are many different ways to take an advantage especially from a parallel. In fact we already get an advantage from the opponent giving their right against our left, I find that I can further extend this advantage by getting in front using full sails (only in parallel), I don’t suggest closing distance per se, but it is essential eventually, as to close out the fight you need to immobilise your opponent!
Hey would someone here maybe be able to carry me in some pvp to help me learn cuz I’m trying to get skeleton curse but it’s like impossible for me cuz I suck so badly 😢
Not to worry mate, more advanced guides in the making! In the meantime I think the biggest thing to improve with is the “win or learn attitude”. Trying to learn from every game is essential to improvement.
lol I love the salty pirates, they’ll never learn why they lose, concentrating after sink on just getting a revenge shot. I will say I’ve been doing this hard right, then turn left in. If you keep sails turned right, you can keep them full as most of the time the wind won’t be in them. This gives an advantage of not having to adjust once they try to run, you only have to adjust wheel. I don’t bother half raised anymore, harder for cheats when you are full sail…. Everything else is great
I understand where you are coming from, but I find that full sailing even when it’s all the way to the right, still just prolongs the fight and makes it harder to maintain angle, especially against good players, it will also make it a bit harder to catch mast should it get chained!
@@massivespongeold I have gone up against some of the best though, it also makes it harder for them though, especially if you get used to shooting at that speed/angle. But the issue remains you will have to raise once in a death spiral, adjust wheel, and repair. That’s not including raising mast as you mentioned, but I’ve found sometimes increasing pressure on them is what’s best once mast is down anyway. Every game varies, and I think your points are best, but I’ve won countless matches being the turtle, repairing and keeping pressure. Some just can’t bucket and repair as quickly, or also are very afraid of being boarded. As you said, never go in a match with the expectation to win, and you’ll never lose. I always go in to have fun, win or lose. I’ve learned a lot. The most frustrating player is the one that constantly runs, worse than a cheater 😆. If they’re a cheater and a bad player you can still beat them, if they’re a cheater and a half assed player, it’ll be over quick. A runner, I’ve let my ego get to me and let a match run over two hours chasing and trying to board. Bane of my existence 😆

If you have any more wood crates, I reccomend one on the stairs near the bottom, so that when you are bucketing you can grab wood!

I Will be happy to join you on twitch when your live

@@Forbeddin_Spatula That’s alr man, there were some awesome highlights that will be on TH-cam soon!
my strat is i cant be asked for navel so i just shoot over with pistol snipe and try and get on their boat, once i make it on i camp them till they leave
Fair Strat! Can be worth working on other areas of the game too if you wanna secure those big streaks!
I've been doing all of that and my win streak is still 60%
Did you adopt the win or learn mindset?! You will notice improvement when you start to look back at your own games too!
@@massivespongeold Just saying, all in all its a really good guide, but I did know all of that as I've been playing for a long time over the course of 3 years, but doesnt matter how much i learned when i end up getting one balled constantly
@@FunnyFreak_ fair enough! Sometimes boat positioning can help reduce one balls too!
i'm not wasting 20,000 gold on supplies knowing that i'll sink on my first go so i only buy wood and cannons
I absolutely understand this mentality, I mainly recommend buying captain fruit however, as it can be very helpful as you don’t have to eat three coconuts on every hit!
thanks i forgot how to lose now
Same
Ive played against one of the ships in this video
Epic! Hope you went well!
Whens the tutorial for having 30 ping tho
🤣
Great video but be careful with your sound levels. At some points you can barely hear what you say cuz the music is too loud. Your voice should always be louder than the music
Appreciate the tip!
very nice spunky spung
That’s me

Jesus the music is loud, captain.
What about players who just run and not even engage with you?
Music is incredibly loud and I can't really hear much of what you are saying
Sorry mate, will work on it for next time!

me i can do this my brain and my hands we cant do that sinks
me I can do this my brain and my hands *can* do that sinks
Try lowering background music a bit. Hard to hear u sometimes
i already new these tips and i'm still not doing good
Why do you always aim in before ladder grab?
it used to make it so your boards were silent but they patched it but most people still do it out of habit
Sponge you are the living embodiment of PVP sweat lord.
paralel position is a thing we dont want we want an advantage so its important gaining that advantage first so we should watch the opponents movements direction and counter it if he wants to give cannons angle turning we should turn before him if they want to keep the distance sooo try to be close them is a mistake just an universal thing opponent is a prey so we want to hunt them there is not a certain thing to achive this u should keep your eyes open
I think I understand some of what you are saying, however there are many different ways to take an advantage especially from a parallel. In fact we already get an advantage from the opponent giving their right against our left, I find that I can further extend this advantage by getting in front using full sails (only in parallel), I don’t suggest closing distance per se, but it is essential eventually, as to close out the fight you need to immobilise your opponent!
how come 2 channels?
what that wheel
80% is just land your shots, if you land propelly you will aways win
great
👍
I literally can’t do pvp bc I average 20 frames😭😭😭
Just realized i did everything correctly
Perfect
Well I tried your method and Ive lost 99% more often.
:(
I’m sorry to hear that! Keep a good mindset and learn from ur losses. Don’t give up, you got this!
Hey would someone here maybe be able to carry me in some pvp to help me learn cuz I’m trying to get skeleton curse but it’s like impossible for me cuz I suck so badly 😢
Good video👍

I hear the same advice all the time.. kinda think i'm just bad and need some get gud juice.. anyone selling?!
Not to worry mate, more advanced guides in the making! In the meantime I think the biggest thing to improve with is the “win or learn attitude”. Trying to learn from every game is essential to improvement.
@@massivespongeold Win or learn is for sure something I struggle with.. right now its more of a win or bite tongue
Muito obrigado, ja masterizei o jogo
Fico feliz em ouvir isso!
click on people, don't get clicked on
Good idea 🤣
spong not saying "real" every 5s reading chat is so weird
Real
The only people who have the lvl 1000 golden curses are streamers with no life or cheaters. which one are you.

lol I love the salty pirates, they’ll never learn why they lose, concentrating after sink on just getting a revenge shot.
@@massivespongeold that’s entirely true
@@hatboxghost735 Love the attitude! And I have to agree the runners are the worst, bc the cheaters usually suck!
@@massivespongeold yes, both suck equally when you’re trying to just move through the ranks 😂
thx a lot
