I personally feel like the new characters hunters uses makes the game a lot more interesting. It’s nice to see more original products coming from the Star Wars franchise rather then the same 8 characters we see in other Star Wars games all the time.
Glad you feel that way! However, I don’t think most share that sentiment. Might as well play a non-Star Wars game at that point. It’s why Marvel Rivals will be way bigger than this game. Imagine battlefront or Galaxy of Heroes with no-name Star Wars characters. Wouldn’t be nearly as popular or successful.
@@AhnaldT101on one hand I agree,can’t have a Star Wars game without iconic characters but on the other…the Star Wars universe is MASSIVE so them adding new characters like this make it feel more alive then just darth Vader and oni wan

The game has been great for me and my daughter. She is 5 and loves playing games with me. The auto shoot option is really nice for her. We both are playing on the Switch

This game definitely lends itself to being easy to play for kids. Not a super complicated game.

From what I’ve researched, Disney is stubbornly adverse to using George Lucas era characters because part of the deal, George receives royalties for the use of his characters.
I’ve heard behind the scenes it’s the opposite. Original trilogy/Prequels/Sequels stuff is easiest for them to license. Mandoverse is the most difficult. Again, hearsay so no one really knows except the people who actually get a license.

Personally I think KK and the story group are disdainful to Lucas era content and anything they didn’t create themselves.

Mobile can't move the buttons it seems. And they put all the buttons on 1 side for some dumb reason from aim to shoot to specials.
Disagree with some of these points - the “offbrand” was the whole point of it. Playing as iconic Star Wars characters was made for things like SWGOH/Battlefront. We finally get original, cool characters and we still just want the same old characters. We gotta move on and enjoy new characters at some point. I do agree that it should’ve been released on everything, but I don’t think the controls are a problem. I’ve played mobile games for a while, it’s the same skill gap as someone moving from controller to keyboard or vice versa. This game is fantastic for a mobile game - you can play immediately, as much as you want, as long as you want. Matches are quick, and playing different comps/hunters keeps things fresh. I think the 6/10 is harsh - it’s not over watch like people make it out to be. I think an 8/10 is much more fair.

Serious problem is not enough interface customization because the buttons for me are way too small and i always miss click on abilities

I played for a while yesterday. With a PS5 controller hooked up to my iPad I was dominating. So much easier than screen touch control.
I connected a controller to my phone over bluetooth, and it made the game a lot more fun. The controls were pretty good, and I was able to play a bunch of games

A revival of Empire at War is getting a sequel or remake of some sort. I'm hopeful we get both, star wars strategy games are far to few
I used to watch you back when I played SWGoH, nice to see you covering this game. I had pre-registered for this game way back when, and then had forgotten all about it until I woke up to find an alert on my phone that this had been installed. So far, I’ve been having a blast with this game, and I’ve unlocked several of the characters already. It’s surprisingly player friendly with regard to micro transactions and how you are able to unlock stuff. My plan is to play this for as long as I find it fun, or until they start making it where you need to spend money to see any advancement.
They could have done a “holotable” esque setting like SWGOH where it’s basically a game in a game, allowing you to play as iconic characters to your liking
Would have liked this much better, but I feel like using original characters allows for more unique character design for gameplay's sake.

One of the things I like best about this game is that you aren't playing all the usual canonical characters - and this let's them be really way more creative in making new hunters.

They should have done it like SWGOH, where the setting is a gaming cantina and the player is a “player” in that cantina. That’s what allows all those characters from all those eras to exist in the same arena. Placing an arena shooter on the official Star Wars timeline was pointless and probably a mistake.

Diago and Charr were also gated behind the battle pass during their Seasons , but once their season is over they were unlockable through Hunter's path

I like Imara a lot. She can't take many hits, but the grapple lets you get out of a bad situation fast, and it's a great way to differentiate the character. Fun for being an annoying little lass who can be hard to pin down as you jump from ledge to ledge
I like this game it’s basic but fun the matches are quick and simple and I like how the characters have their own abilities
Google says it will be released for PC and console at the end of August.

How do you control your characters on iPad? Is it by on screen controllers/buttons or can you use a ps4 game controller?
Think you can use any Bluetooth controller like Switch pro
you can use the on screen controls, or any bluetooth controller that's compatible w/ ios which is most mainstream ones.
Currently working my way towards unlocking Rieve and I've been having a blast, I'm an FPS/TPS guy, so it's home for me

Yeah let me play 4 finger claw and this game would be perfect. For now I have my air triggers set for shooting/ ADS but I have to change it for every character

Hi I started Star Wars hunter mobile .yesterday.
I been connecting my ps5 controller to my iPhone 11 & playing squad brawl in STwars hunters.
Um I haven’t been playing Farlight84 since june17 at 5:56pm. But now! I’m into Star Wars Hunters mobile now. I feel like I’m going to be up till 7am or 6am playing Star Wars hunters on my iPhone & look for someone too team up with & have fun & laugh & watch my teammates back in any match.

I appreciate this honest review. I play it and your critiques are valid. Known characters would be great but disney most likely won't liscense them. I have no problem spending on a game like this thats not overmonitized and predatory like Diablo
You can also use a backbone attachment if you have it, it makes mobile version easy to play

As much as I'm loving star wars hunters zynga shouldve giving us the option to buy this physically on a cart for switch users like myself especially since it uses UE5 I just think that in itself is mindblowing that the switch can pull an engine like that off. The atmosphere this game gives off is imo outstanding. I love the arena style asthetic and gameplay gives me some ratchet deadlocked vibes but with a star wars spin opinion probably unpopular but I aint afraid to say what it is I feel. I think this game is great. Also Rieve is a badass and deserves to have her own spin off game similar to the cancelled darth maul game we didnt get but made to completion. I also love the music in hunters easily one of my favorite highlights of this game.

Went in with low expectations. Realized why over watch is so popular really quickly. For a free game on switch pretty fun and ill probably consider these kind of triple a games in the future now
I like it and I'm a stubborn fan, mainly cause it's different and kinda goofy, we already have something serious and has canon characters and that's battlefront, so this was a breathe of fresh air and I like how you can change up the appearance of them
I know they're missing like Escort mode and wasn't there like a Hoth theme map?
This is probably more of a personal thing but one thing I love about Overwatch is that the characters you're playing actually interact with each other. They all have special voice lines for certain characters ranging from who you defeat, who you spawn into the game with, when you're waiting for the game to start, and many more. You can't have a interaction in star wars hunters where if you're Boba and you beat a player who's playing as Bo, maybe he would say something like "Told you my voice would be the last one you'd hear" but you can't get that with just basic characters. It just adds so much more flavor and life to the game. Overwatch has had many problems over the years and the love for the game goes beyond just how fun the base game is, cause the core game itself has had it's issues. Gotta have solid characters and on top of good gameplay and the game lacking the main characters robs this game of having any real life to it. but that's just me from what I've seen and as someone who's been playing Overwatch since the first year it came out.
Yep, what you described is what Battlefront did. One of my favorite lines is when Boba said "I'm gonna fill your lungs with FIRE!".

@@AhnaldT101 Might seem like overkill my friend, but I had to have a bacon cheese burger from in and out and since they of course don't sell bacon, I ended up cooking the bacon ahead of time, brought the burger back home and put the bacon on it. No regrets man XD

Sentinel is probably the best character in the game, has insane damage, has a very good shield, has an ability that can cause knockdowns, and has a pretty decent knock back ability that has almost no cool down. The weakest part of his kit is his ultimate, but even then it's hardly a deciding factor. He can win any 1v1 in the game, and can win most 1v2 situations. Every ability he has covers any potential weaknesses he could have had
He's also a pretty good counter against the wookie lol.
True but it's just about how to break his shield and get from behind him or from his sides from there blasters users shoot in the head he goes down very quick, even stun or constantly damaging moves work. If he stays too long in one spot his getting over run easily.
I think one of the biggest drawbacks is there is no system of communication

I first played this game on my Nintendo switch around 2 days ago i was super surprised and impressed at the quality. Its a good concept not pay to win and is super fun. However I do think this game can and will get repetitive after some time dew to the low level of game modes available i do believe this will be fixed as this game was just released and therefor isn’t perfect. I Also feel the hunters could use some balancing, they are pretty balanced as of now but a few stand out as way more powerful than the rest ones that come to mind are mainly sentinel that dude is so overpowered. Overall besides these minor inconveniences I believe its a great game and i can’t wait to see the direction it goes in.
I don't care that I can't play with iconic star wars characters. I've played all of them. The newly created characters are refreshing. They feel part of the universe. How many times can one play as Darth Vader?
The reason for them not using main characters is the games status as canon these arena battles officially happened and exist as do all of these characters. It wouldn’t be possible to do this with existing characters
When i saw the ad i thought looks pretty cool might give it a shot just to open the playstore just for it to not be compatible with my phone sadly enough
I personally love the game I like how casual it is being on only mobile and switch (means not many sweats) and is more enjoyable for quick fun also love that there's no famous characters in it because it makes you feel like the character your playing as
Honestly, I actually really like the Aldii offbrand legends style characters. They almost all are super unique and interesting.
i have a switch but ive actually been playing on ipad using my ps5 controller via bluetooth & i love it. occasionally ill screen mirror to the tv. i wanted to use it on my backbone for my phone but the controls are finicky atm so hopefully that gets fixed eventually.

Honestly pretty impressed with the graphics and map creation every character seems capable on the battlefield. All in all (for what the game is) id give it an 8 on the mobile aspect. Really, really wish they gave this to Playstation and Xbox
Its a fun and simple little game, my only issue was it did work with Zfold 5 before launch and now it not a supported device. Not sure what happen but at least it on the switch
It's not available on XBOX or Playstation since EA held the IP rights for these consoles at the time of development -based on how successful the game will be, it could be likely that they'll develop it for these consoles too.
I think if we can get skins that directly replicate the more mainline Star Wars characters, it’ll be a game changer.
I’ve been having fun with it. Maybe it’s just me, but the interface is pretty overwhelming. It’s like walking down the Vegas Strip every time i’m at the home screen
It’s pretty good ; I’ve had some pretty good fun with it , I feel they make it insaneellyyyy painful to make get new characters with out buying them ( no shock there ) and they made the coolest character( Aron Tal) behind a pay wall as well, I bought the premium pass but be warned on switch it may take some time for the premium pass to register on your account , I learned that the hard way
I actually quite like the entire roster being original characters. Its a unique setting and theres a clever premise narratively to tie the gameplay into the universe. There's a lot of lore and quirks for the whole roster so I do think they're all quite cool and its honestly the best batch of new SW characters Ive seen in a long while. Obviously in terms of marketability and overall success, the omission of any notable names is a curious choice but I respect it for being bold and unique.

As far as the character go I feel like it went the Podracer game route with making new characters. It’s meant to be fun. Personally I’m glad the official characters aren’t used because we got some really interesting character designs out of this
Wait what??? I play SWGoH on my iPad and for about 2 years now I've also had Star Wars Hunters but I haven't really been too invested in it, I honestly didn't know that it didn't actually come out.
I know you’ve given it a 6/10 but honestly this is the perfect Star Wars hero shooter. Having characters that are new is fun since you feel like each character could be you in the Star Wars universe. Plus giving abilities to new characters is way easier than having to color inside the lines. The game should come to ps5 and Xbox and pc for sure, it’s best played on switch and the game is a 10/10 for me.

I hope this game gets more support. Some things they should change is prob make the maps a lil larger, and make the matches last 1-2 min longer. Rn it’s way too fast paced, and should be slowed down just a lil. The character selection is small, but of course, they just released the game anyways, so they might add new characters every season/2 months, which is a good pace for dishing new big content into the game. Other than that, it’s prob just rebalancing the characters a lil, like Aran, which should do more dmg imo, and reduce the rocket girls ulti dmg. I hope for the best for this game

You should make a video with ideas for the game and how it could improve. very early on, it's very important to make videos ideas on how they can keep up with all the new releases and competition.
If they decided to use actual Star Wars characters it would be battlefront 2 heroes vs villains all over again

It's a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
Played a couple of hours, and its honestly fun. Granted it's been on my switch. Maybe down the road they'll introduce new "hunters" that are from the main movies after everyone has leveled up the base ones. Absolutely no reason for the game to not be on PS/Xbox
The pop in is pretty rough on Switch. I'd play on my phone, but it's not supported. Even though it's a Z Fold 4.

I play this all the time love it on the switch but glad it was not rushed. Not a single bit lag ranked its good the maps are small but have a lot going for it. Imara Vex the bounty hunter is my best but sentinel is the goat 🎉🎉
It definitely feels like a mobile game which i am not surprised. What did surprise me is how the powers can get you out of a sticky situation.
6/10 is about right. Needs bigger maps, more characters on the field, and more unique modes.
I also don’t agree that they need to have iconic characters in this game to survive cause the devs are going for a game with all new and fresh characters which I like especially given the timeline it’s in. I’m sure they’ll have events where you can unlock Luke and Leia and Han and Chewy etc.
I feel like I'm playing against bots a lot. The gamer tags are pretty suspicious, and I keep seeing a lot of the same tags. Mind you, I just started. Are there a lot of people actually playing this?
This game is actually way better than I thought I would. I highly recommend getting it. I thinks it's pretty good to have on your phone. I like that it doesn't have iconic characters because that wouldn't make sense in the context of the game.
