    I just got the silver/blue version from GetFPV came with XT-60 charge cables, ordered four XT-60 female to Deans type T connectors for compatibility with my stash of lipos. As far as I can tell, the only difference between the silver/blue and red BGUAD is that the red version comes with charge cables with "T" connectors.

    Gregg: Thanks for your video posts associated with reconditioning hybrid battery packs using the CQ3 charger. I'm getting ready to do my first reconditioning of my Gen 2 2006 Prius battery and have watched your detailed video several times; your video is the best one I have found and is very detailed. I'm planning on buying the new version of the charger you just posted this unboxing video for. I'm wondering if you might be willing to post a detailed video on exactly what settings you are using on all of the parameters for this new CQ3 charger. I've carefully watched the settings portion of your existing video, but there are some parameters that don't seemed to get discussed and am wondering specifically what gets entered in all of the parameters. If you were willing to post this; I know it would help out a bunch of us out. I see a lot of people on Prius Chat struggling with specific settings to use on the CQ3 charger. Thanks again for your time on these videos.... very helpful.

      Hello E Johnson, Thank you for watching and commenting on my video. If you scroll to the description below refurbishing video you can find all of the settings I used. The setup video you suggest is a great idea which I did not think of at all. I have already setup the new charger and it maintains the settings inside once they are entered. I am not sure if there is a way to clear it out to factory settings so a video could be made. If you make a setup video please send me a link and I will direct those who need setup help to it. I hope you will write back in and let us know if you make the video and how you like using the charger.

      @@GreggFesto Thanks Gregg, I see your list of settings in the description section of your hybrid battery refurbish video, I hadn't noticed that before. That is great information; thank you. If you have used this new BGUAD charger for a refurbish yet; I'm wondering if you have found that the new version of the charger displays the results of the discharge-charge cycles mostly the same way as the older version of the charger does (that you walk through in your detailed refurbishing video) when the cycle has come to and end? I've read of several people having issues accessing the mAh high and low readings for each cycle , once the cycles has come to and end. It appears the charger manufacturer has changed the function label for the far left button on the new charger to Mode/Esc versus in the older version of the charger in your refurbish video which is labeled Batt. Type. Anyways wondering if at the End of the cycles you are still accessing the cycle readings by first pressing the far left button; like you did on the older charger or if you are having to do this differently now that the new charger has a differently labeled far left button? Thanks again so much for your information you have posted here and all your replies to everyones comments...... it is extremely helpful as I move through my first refurbishing on an '06 Prius. I have subscribed to your channel and and am giving you as many thumbs up as possible.

      Hello E Johnson, I have indeed used this charger for a refurbish and can confirm that is works 100% exactly as the silver version. Yes the far left (MODE ESC) button is the one to push when you want the results. Please write back and let us know your experience with this charger as well.

      Sir, Thank you for this video. I have a Prius 3rd gen. I followed your instructions. My hybrid battery went from a 40% capacity to a whopping 90.13%. I was able to pick the best cells, buy used cells then tested those which turned out to be in great condition because I was able to cycle them per your instructions. My Prius is now running at 50 mpg. I will be send you $10 for a beer or coffee. Thanks again and God Bless you.

    Hello, I hope that you will make a video on how to save the data so that we do not have to set up the program every time, so we call the saved program directly. Thank you very much.

      Hello Mohamad, Thank you for watching and commenting. My charger saves the last settings in memory so I do not have to enter them each time. If you have the same charger and it does not save your settings then you may want to contact the manufacturer to get a replacement. Please let us know what you find.

      @@GreggFestocan you please let me know how I can use this to charge 8 at a time? I've asked all the people in the Prius DIY groups on Facebook and nobody can seem to figure out how you're cutting your time and half. Great videos by the way really appreciate this!!! Definitely subbed and looking forward to future videos and have shared your link in the groups

      Hello Gabriel, Thank you for watching and writing in. I hope my video was not confusing, I am able to do 8 at a time because I now have 2 chargers, the silver one which was purchased years ago and the red one which was just purchased recently. I appreciate you sharing and subscribing. I hope you will share your results with us when you have tried on your own pack.

      @@GreggFesto Get FPV sells the silver/blue version cheaper with free shipping. The silver blue version comes with XT-60 charge cables, the red version comes with Deans-type charge cables, otherwise both are identical.

      @@GreggFesto Thank you for the answer. Then will you give me answer for couple other q-s: 1) Why my Prius 3 pack voltage at some moment of brake regeneration can go up to 270 volts?(if you experience the same) Some folks say this is normal.
      2) Can I perform similar test, charge/discharge, moving cells around, balancing on my battery even it is not so bad: Health test - 56% remaining life, voltage different - no more that 0.1 with most noticeable difference on 7-th block, resistance - 30 mOhm on all of them. Or do everything but charge/discharge (so I don’t have to buy expensive charger)? I Just want to prevent farther damage to the battery. Thank you

    • @GreggFesto
      @GreggFesto  25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The HV battery pack will experience higher voltage during regeneration for certain which I also read is normal. In my experience the new packs do not turn the app readout "color red" as often when compared to used packs. I believe that lower capacity cells (batteries) cause this condition. You can do this refurbish on your pack and gain performance back. If you balance the batteries and then reassemble the pack in different order without refurbishing them on the charger then you will end up in same situation because you skipped the steps most important. The charger conditions the batteries closer to good health. The reason you will not have good results without using the charger is the pack batteries are assembled in series so the capacity of the pack as a whole will depend on each one of the batteries in the line.

      @@GreggFesto Thank you Gregg for the suggestions. But returning back to overvoltage during regeneration for me looks like Battery Smart Module with its voltage regulator does not do good job of limiting the voltage. I have tried to find answer to this situation - can not find it.

    • @GreggFesto
      @GreggFesto  24 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      You mention voltage regulator not doing a good job of limiting the power back to battery. Think about this - the battery is what should be absorbing the energy from regen, when battery does not have the capacity to absorb the power due to low capacitance then the regulator must find another way to disburse the power. In a new pack the batteries are strong and can absorb the power without issue. I suspect the regulator is working correctly but the batteries are starting to lose their capacity to absorb regen power which is causing the voltage to spike.
