The real reason everyone hates Rudy Gobert

- Dereck Lively of the Dallas Mavericks had comments about Rudy Gobert and his performance in the playoffs for the Minnesota Timberwolves and it made me realize exactly why players seem to hate Rudy Gobert more than any other player, especially players like Draymond Green who can't go a day without thinking about Rudy Gobert.

I am so sick of the rudy gobert hate
The way I see it, Rudy gets hate because of Jealousy. Average folks and NBA players do not value defense, rebounding, shot blocking as a keystone to winning. They want a flashy offensive game. Sha* is a prime example, he feels that the only way to play is the way Sha* played and if you don't do that and get paid an unbelieveable amount of money, you should be ridiculed. All I can saw, when you were on the Jazz, you were the major reason the Jazz had such loft records for a few years. We love you Rudy, and F*** the haters.
Kinda ironic that Dallas hired the assistant coach that spent his whole career working with Rudy to work with Lively. On that note how come nobody is factoring in that the Jazz lost Alex Jensen as a possible reason why Walker had a down year?
I don't think it has anything to do with basketball. Rudy just ain't cool. He doesn't talk the talk. He's not trying to be all chummy. Mailman was kinda the same way. If you don't play their game you're stuck on the outside looking in.
If it was just basketball, people hated Eaton because he couldn't score on his own. It's fine in the NBA when a scorer doesn't play a lick of defense, though.
Mitchell is a good example of no defense but EVERYBODY loves him😂😂😂
Facts...good guy too.
I hope Gobert leaves MIN so we get top 10 picks every f***king year
I don’t know if Gobert has something to do with it if he is in MIN or not
Rudy Gobert est L'étoile Du Nord 🇫🇷
Hes mixed race lightskin guy not from compton or Chicago thats why
Shaq had Kobe, Lively has Luka, Draymond has Steph and KD… what MVP level player has Rudy lined up with?
The hate blows my mind and is a testament of how bad the clique culture of the nba is.
Can we give Rudy credit for getting the votes for all those accolades while playing in a small market with his running mates as Gordon Hayward and Donovan Mitchell. That is probably his greatest achievement.
“Lively sits down with Theo Pinson, whoever that is.” 💀
You’re so cool Nerd. You and Rudy.
Thanks for the content my man.
Hey man, thank you for this smart and honest video. Your development was spot on. Can you imagine : even in France we don't like him..! People like to hate him too I feel. He is an easy target. Discreet, unassuming and awkward personality. That's simpler to attack the weak or person that does not defend himself, whatever the reason is, for pricks / raging kids like Draymond. (I'm not a Rudy fan myself)
I agree with you on almost all points. I don’t agree Rudy Gobert is a great perimeter defender. I think he’s a liability if he’s out there by himself. Rudy’s inside presence though is stellar!
Rudy Gobert is the good you didnt know you had till its gone. They'll miss him someday
There’s a reason why he’s 4 time defensive player of the year.
Derrick Lively will be pissed when Rudy gets indicted in the HOF. How many insecure big men is this league going to produce?
2024 DPOY and everyone hates on him lol. Even Carti called him a big ol goofy 😭
France barely played him in crucial time in Gold medal game. He refuses to develop offensive moves. In a game called basketball. He is limited. Very expensive one. We could be in a better position if he was aggressive and willing to develop.
How do you know that he "refuses to develop" post moves? Happy to be told otherwise, but I'm sure he tried. Rudy always seemed to work crazy hard off the court on all fronts. He refined so many aspects of his game. I'm sure he tried to work on his offense, but to me he just does not seem to have the natural aptitude for post offense. His footwork, instincts with the ball and his touch have never been good.
Fortunately, the way he reads the game defensively is elite, and he has put a tonne of effort into the aspects of his game that he has the potential for improvement.
Rudy was injured during the olympics. He had stitches in his hand the day before France-Canada
Rudy was the best player on the court for france in the Tokyo Olympics. And France outscored the USA when Rudy was on the court in the gold medal game. He’s already played at the highest level internationally. Playing the same position as Webb on an offensive deficient roster doesn’t change that. Quit subscribing to recency bias.
They hate him cuz they ain’t him
No argument here. I wish Rudy was still here.
Is he also hated because he's french ?
Rudy got paid big time for doing defense. That bothered Shaq and so many other players. No doubt gobert is very good at defense while others are elite on the offensive end.
In my 30+ years, watching the NBA. I’ve never enjoyed watching defense more than when Rudy was on the court!
For his accolades during the regular season he falls flat in the playoffs, much like Paul George, he is definitely overpaid
Rudy is still my favorite player still also lively don't want to piss off ANT and KAT for messing with there teammate because they will embarrass him
Please explain why or how Gobert was the “main reason” the wolves beat the nuggets. I’d argue that Gobert has never affected winning and he’s extremely overrated as a defensive player. He’s a decent mid tier NBA big. That’s about it.
75% from the free throw career nerd? He has never shot over 70% in any year of his career from the line bro?
It’s cause he cannot create his own shot offensively. And I thought he could get there but he never learned a post move… offensively he was frustrating
You must be new to Rudy, lol
@@djkacheI’m not. I was just summing up what was frustrating about him over the years I watched him.
He “sucks” offensively but gets you 15 points a game with zero plays drawn up for him….
Love it.
He's French.
Rudy Gobert and Bill Laimbeer.
They should leave Rudy alone.
Let them keep chirping, and Rudy will keep putting in the work
I don't like him cause he's the same dude now he was as a rookie. He is self entitled and thinks he doesn't need to impress because we handed him defencive player awards in years that he was not the best defencive player by the numbers you can see he's not. And the reason was Edwards and kat. Conley was more important then gobert in the playoff run.
These types of takes blow my mind. The incompetence is rampant.
Rudy is not better than Draymond at defending sorry and it’s even close
You're right he isn't better. He is 4 times better (4 dpoys) . In term of impact and elite sectors of his defensive game
@@LeBronrules7 rim protector that’s about it
Good points, but he has a 63.9 career ft percentage, not 75.
There's probably too much unwarranted hate towards Gobert, due to his contract and the amount of DPOYs he's gotten 😂
He does a lot of great stuff defensively, but as a 1on1 defender, he isn't 4x DPOY worthy ( atleast this is the speculations amongst his NBA peers).
I think back to the Utah Jazz days, with Gobert there... Remember what Terrance Mann did in that jazz clippers series 😂
Rudy is very good but that contract was a franchise killer.
🏀🇫🇷🎷👍
I love Rudy Gobert. It sucks the Jazz traded him. He should’ve stayed in Utah
