The only TH-cam channel that Ford & Chevy fans can agree on. The C8 & GT500 are totally different cars with advantages & disadvantages. I like seeing someone taking the cars to the track and stretching their legs. I was impressed by the sound of the GT and the way it cornered once the tires warmed up. Too bad we couldn't see the speedometer from that angle on the helmet cam. I would say your driving skills are at the upper echelon for "Enthusiast" your videos are fun to watch. Keep them up!

I am far from being a professional driver, but I think that in most corners it is better to leave the car in third gear, so that you have more confidence in the corners and by being in a higher gear you can accelerate more when leaving the corner . but I think this is only valid for cars that have a lot of torque, like the GT500. great video btw
@@zioo3117 He is correct, easier to leave it in 3rd gear and be able to plant coming out of the corner so you can focus on the line rather than focusing on keeping the car from going sideways!

So that was Chuck Walla where I saw you. I've driven that track as well, but on the California 500 Rally where CW was a destination. That track can be rather hot, depending upon the season.AF
First, let me say that I really enjoyed watching this video. I liked the on-track comment about how good the brakes are, because I found myself saying out loud, they better be, as you dove that monster into another corner, lol. I did want to ask about the audio. Are your recordings actually capturing the true sound of the car at full RPM, or is the loudness pushing too many decibels and causing audio to clip and flatline into noise? The fact that no one else seems to have brought this up makes me think it might be a true recording. Either way, it's like getting blasted by a firehose of sound. 😁
I'm curious if you break loose the rear to attack that 1st corner. I also think after cresting the sharp S as you start dropping you can go a little faster I'm sure you and the car could exit faster.
It depends on the track. If it's a small track with tight corners, the ZL1 will fare better because it's lighter. If its a bigger track with more straights, the ZL1 1LE doesn't pose much threat.
@@burgerbandit3646 good point but with the same power output and carbon fiber wheels and either a cross plane crank or twin turbo in the 6.2 liter do you still think the gt500 can beat the zl1 1le I won't mention the tires because the mustang can't beat the Camaro on the same tires as I have witnessed in many comparisons
Great videos....it is difficult to hone your driving skills while switching from rear motor to front motor cars. Great to see that you are aware of the need to drive smoother....the old saying....slower is faster! Have you thought about talking to a track driving school with the idea of an instructor giving you an in car lesson with the video running. I think all your subs would benefit and understand the need for taking a few lessons on car position, braking, power delivery and passing strategies . Could generate some business for the school. Nothing wrong with driver education. Might keep a few drivers from wrecking their cars. Stay safe.
I must say Chevy LTE & mustang has a very common trait which sound insane in their high rpm range. Americans must loved this. But the thing is during mid corner it's like no sound at all. Like the rpm is at idling level ie quite. Coming from jdm / italian / germany machine background I must say I do not enjoy the experience compare to say a porsche gt3 / honda vtec / Nissan rb26dett / any Ferrari or Lambo... Anyway great video as always.

i love that gt500 it's such a well balanced machine it may not be faster than the c8 around that track but its a totally a different feel you need to be better skilled to drive it love both cars no disrespect but can you try mounting the camera in a better spot in the gt500 so we can see the speedo thanks

Nice Lump, great sound, heavy car with poor mechanical grip. The highest performing Blue Oval will struggle against the base C8. When the flat plane Z06 comes out we will have a real game with the GT 350 - maybe. GT 500 appears to be a Boulevard Racer. For all those detractors, mechanical grip means not just corner speed, but ability to put power down exiting corners. Horsepower is great, but if you cannot put it to the ground . . . .

I'd say leave it in auto next time. Going into 1st gear on the hairpin was probably a little too much. With all the power this thing has you could probably do the whole track in 3rd and 4th gear. It sounded amazing. Was your fastest lap a 1:41?

Not a difference in speed. Turn 1 is a kink not a turn. It is Flat in ALL cars. If u cant’t take turn 1 flat there is a driver problem or car problem
