    Awesome video, great content. I am really wanting a morning glory. I currently use a blues driver for that slight break up spot. Do you think there would be much of a difference in the morning glory?

      Hey Grant, thanks mate! Really glad you’re enjoying the channel.
      I’ve personally found that the differences between the MG/BD are quite subtle, both of them doing very similar things just with a slight difference in character (The MG maybe have more of a mid-frequency push?)
      I think if you enjoy the BD but you’re looking to try something new (but not too different), you definitely won’t be disappointed with the MG.
      Cheers mate, hope this helps!

    Nice. Could move the Morning Glory up above sideways and then have a momentary switch to be able to switch its secondary function live, but otherwise like the pared down approach. Waiting for a used Solo 18 to build a 2nd smaller pedalboard with less options. Sometimes less is more...

    Cool board. What made you decide to ditch the Benson preamp?

    • @joelwilson7908
      @joelwilson7908  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Chris, mostly it was because I preferred the way the Morning Glory interacted with the overall rig.
      Also, the convenience and versatility of the second drive stage on the MG to use as a post-drive boost.
      Would love to work the Benson in in future but for now I find this is the best overall build for tone and versatility 🤟
      Cheers mate! 🤙

    Good on ya, Joel. You're making some excellent videos, mate. Although ... you make your best decisions when you're decisive? th-cam.com/video/VFJKlJHbl3U/w-d-xo.html Heh ... OK.

      And yeah, in hindsight my wording there is probably a little confusing 😅 but I hope the meaning is clear!
      Cheers mate 🤙

    Ok, but what amp do you use?

  • @fistovuzi
    @fistovuzi 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    5 overdrive pedals on one board is fine if it's a small board.
    i have favourites in every pedal category, time-based modulation i only use reverb and some delay on occasion, a boss distortion and boss metal core that recently got removed for a fuzz pedal (i've always hated fuzz but i recently discovered 'trons, so i will find the fuzz i like).
    the rest is really a rotating mess of ODs.

    Nice Board. I use a temple audio board as well. I just got the Morning Glory and I'm still figuring out its best setting. So far I prefer my Tumnus, but I'm still experimenting with the MG by itself and stacking both together.

    • @joelwilson7908
      @joelwilson7908  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Pete, that's awesome, mate! What other pedals are you rocking on your board?
      Not sure if you've passed it but I'd recommend checking out Josh Scott's stacking combination for the MG and a Klon-clone - it's the drive tone he swears by and may be what you're looking for.

      @@joelwilson7908 Thanks for the video suggestion! Currently running three reverbs. I just got the Strymon big sky so maybe I’ll find a sound in the BS to replace my Walrus SLO or my Afterneath. I also have theJHS Muffaletta, Cali 76 and Digitech Obscura delay on my board.

      @Pete Creswell no problems! Hope it helps 🤙 And that sounds like an awesome rig. I've been wanting to try a Cali 76 (or anything else from Origin) for a while but haven't been able to find any around where I am.
      Hopefully sometime soon, though! Cheers mate 🤙

    A GIGRIG gen x 14 for power would be great on this. And maybe an atom switcher for tone integrity. Also a couple of mini pedals in place of the tuner and maybe another pedal. Ps. I just got the boss fz1 fuzz. What an amazing pedal!

    This is very similar to my board, though I’m sold on DSP drives. Source Audio Kingmaker fuzz > Strymon Sunset dual drive > JHS 3 Series harmonic tremolo > Walrus Arp-87 delay > MXR reverb on a Pedal Train Nano+ with a Cioks Sol power supply. It’s a remarkably flexible setup for only five pedals on a very small board.

    My pedalboard is a guitar case on top of another guitar case sitting on the arms of a chair so I can see the settings.
    My guy at Sweetwater likes the way your board mounts the pedals. Did you ever consider putting painters tape on the pedals before fixing them to the brackets?
    He suggested it, since I don't play gigs and am still exploring lots of options. I'd prefer a system that's easy to reverse.

    Nice setup! How easily did you find attaching your boss pedal with the rubber bottom? Did you try to get a smaller plate? Thanks ;)

    • @fistovuzi
      @fistovuzi 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      i havent watched the vid yet, but since the 80s the trick has been, unscrew the base plate and screw it back on upside down with the rubber face inside the pedal and a steel surface facing out.

    Sounds great! Are you using a noise gate pedal for live gigs?

    • @joelwilson7908
      @joelwilson7908  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Hank, cheers mate! And I've never really found I've needed a noise gate for live gigs - single-coils hum doesn't bother me too much and when I have the fuzz way up I can usually control it some with the volume pot.
      Although, I haven't used this exact board and set-up for a live gig yet so maybe that'll change!
      Cheers mate 🤙

    Nice video! I love hearing how people think about their smaller rigs. I tend to take a similar approach, but maybe just a bit more expansive.
    On my board right now I have a Polytune 3 Mini (buffer on), Sentry gate (noise problem solver), Keeley Compressor+ (subtle always-on), Horizon Devices Precision Drive (tightening the low end on higher gain tones), Wampler Pantheon (edge of breakup mainly, but capable of everything from clean boost to higher gain) - then the wet section is a Walrus Julianna (light chorus/vibrato when I want), Horizon Devices Flux Echo (three delay/reverb combo options with tap tempo), and Neunaber Immerse MkII (dedicated multi-reverb).
    Total of 8 pedals on a Temple Audio Duo 17 board. Super versatile and still pretty compact! Might get a more dedicated delay soon, but really loving how it came together.
