"Knowing Me, Knowing You" is the song for before the break-up and "Winner Takes All" is for after the break-up. The song was shot outside in winter. One of my favorite songs from ABBA. Drove my motorcycle while listening to this. Nice bike....first generation water cooled bike. A Honda V65 Magna street bike...... 1984....those were the days
This is from an era before the music video was a concept like it became in the 1980s. They were simpler, not as much invested in, and not mandatory like now. From this era, if you find something like a video it can often be a live performance. BBC had a show called Top of the Pops, if there were no video, no artists actually on the show, they had these dancing girls as a visual aid to fill the TV screen.

So, there is the soap opera that is ABBA. The group stopped in 1982. Their songs can upbeat with melancholy lyrics. Must be a Swedish thing.
ABBA has magic. The 4 of them were friends and lovers. They all could make their own music, but their combined strength is like a complete scene. A sandy beach is great, add palm trees in the distance, great. Warm turquoise water is great, and a gentle breeze on a hot day. But when you put them all together, you have magic. This song helps summarize an tried and failed experiment of doing tour best with a "we need to let go" conclusion that allows something to remain, different but death of that part of a relationship.

Thanks for great ABBA reactions. They are the best! You should do "The Name Of The Game". Since you are a into hiphop a fun fact is that The Fugees sampled from that tune for their "Rumble In The Jungle". They and Madonna are the only ones that ABBA allowed to sample extracts direct from their songs. Keep up the good work!
7:18 Björn and Benny knew a lot of musicians, so it wasn't that crazy that they happened to engage in two ladies that also had a career in music. The four used to sing together at home and parties so B&B brough their girls to the studio to get some background vocals for a few songs. They soon discovered that their tunes sounded better with the girls doing most of the singing.
I enjoyed ABBA back in the seventies, but wouldn't admit it. Kinda had the "hots" for Agnetha too. Their music will live on forever. Great harmonies, great stage presence, all original. They were one of the most commercially successful acts in the history of popular music and people are still being introduced to their music and loving it.
I'm the same generation as ABBA so knew their songs from the beginning, but have to say I'm more into them now than ever in my life, especially since learning of their comeback. "Agnetha" is pronounced "Ong-nyet-uh" (very soft on the "g"), Bjorn" is "Byorn", Anni Frid usually goes by Frida. Love your reactions and how you dive deep. You're learning and you teach me a lot, too.
Hey there it's pronounced as Bee-orn.. Abba created a wall of sound that's why their songs sounded unique.. the rich vocals of both the girls.. their harmonies also gave rise to a third voice that's so resonant in most of their hits
It most definitely isn't. The "Bj" part is good as is, the "örn" part comes close to the english word "earn", as in I earn a lot of money. I guess another way is to pronounce "burn" with a fairly thick american accent, pushing the letter "j" in between B and U without changing the over all pronunciation. Björn is also the swedish word for bear, the animal.
@@frurichardsson9239 To Francis defence I have heard in clips how they use very swenglishized versions of their own names. Guess they where pandering a little to their audience. Hälsa herr Richardsson.

The irony is that "Knowing Me Knowing You" was prescient. It's from their album Arrival, released in 1976, well before Bjorn and Agnetha and Bjorn's divorce, and before Anni-Fryd's marriage, let alone divorce. It makes the song more poignant to know that it's exactly where they were headed several years later.
BTW Anni-Frid is now Princess Anni-Frid, Dowager Countess of Plauen since her marriage to Heinrich Ruzzo, Prince Reuss of Plauen. So both a pop princess and an actual one. ;)

Fabian, continue the superb work you're doing. Not only Abba though. I value your comments and analysis a lot. Try out some of the most beautiful modern songs that were written: Bosco (Alternate Director Version) or Special Needs by Placebo.
It's interesting to note this was well b4 any of the break-ups in Abba. Tellingly years later after they separated Benny said that his relationship with Frida would have ended alot sooner if it wasn't for the band and wanting to keep it together ( on you Benny lol! )
Benny and (Ani-Frid) Aka Frida were married but divorced later too. They had no children. Frida had two children from a previous marriage before Benny. Her daughter later died in a car accident back in the 90s
Fleetwood Mac did something similar on "Rumours" - writing songs about the relationships within the group - e.g. Stevie Nicks singing "Go your own way", the song Lindsey Buckingham wrote about their break-up. "Knowing me, knowing you" is a break-up song but was actually written years before their break-ups and divorces - it was released in 1976, while the couples divorced in 1979 and 1981 respectively.
*Coming from a native Swede* The band members were couples; Agneta (the blonde) was married to Björn (the clean-shaven man), and Anni-Frid (the redhead) was married to Benny (the bearded man), but they later got divorced, and I think, I THINK, that this song is in significance to that.
These videos are directed by Lasse Hallstöm. The spinning around thing was achieved by having them stand in a big flower pot with wheels on it and a couple of guys laying on the floor spinning them around. Apparently.
If you’d like to know, phonetically the names are Ag-knee-eta, and Bi-orn. They were married for years, and it was after their divorce that Frida and Benny married. This song was written at the very beginning-ish.” The winner takes IT all” is first divorce, “When all is said And done” is second divorce.
Byorn Great presentation, thanks. There is one I have as a guilty pleasure titled Watch Out. It's the first, last, and only acid punk song they did. And all four hate it.
Bjorn (2 schools of thought on the pronunciation: Bee-YORN or Bore with a rolled r) and Agnetha (ON-nie-YET-ta) were married and had 2 kids. Frida (Anni-Frid) and Benny were married as well. Both couples divorced. So sad when the band broke up - they had the most awesome sound!
Isn't the same the time was 'Official married' than the time was 'Living together' or be a Couple Agnetha & Björn living together or be a Couple about nine years (1969/1978) Frida & Benny living together or be a Couple twelve years (1969/1981)
It's really half half in all their many many songs that the lead is shared, as well as that third voice of them combined with no lead. With a little bit of leads from the guys sometimes.
This is a top song for me -this song blast away sounds great . They were both married . This song was way before they broke up . looks like they predicted their future .
Money Money Money - the video to that song is the director's favorite, and it's really really great. Both couples were together when Knowing Me Knowing You were released. Björn and Agnetha had split up at the time of The Winner Takes It All. Frida and Benny's split were showcased in When All I Said And Done, when they had just split up. In the video Frida looks worn and torn apart, which I'm sure she was. It's a great song too.
This song was written in 1976 & released in 1977. Bjorn (pronounced B- Yorn) & Agnetha didn't divorce till 1979, Benny & Frida divorced in 1981, this song wasn't about them.
Your comment about it being odd that two couples would be in a band together reminded me that this has happened at least one other time. Check out the history of Fleetwood Mac. John and Christie MacVie were married, while Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were “an item” (some sort of relationship). Like ABBA, both couples broke up. Seems to be a pattern (and maybe a warning to others)!
Oh & FYI & related to my other comment... Fleetwood Mac also had a band/group who were also like ABBA in as much as Chrissie & John McVie were married [the Mac to Micks' Fleetwood] & Lindsey Buckingham & Stevie Nicks were an item too & if that wasn't enough there was also another member of the band/crew who Chrissie was bonking [shagging/boffing/doing the dirty with... pick your term] & she dug him so much that the song 'You Make Loving Fun' is actually about her fling with him & it's dedicated to him. [albeit secretly, at the time]

"Agnetha" is pronounced "Ong-nyet-uh" (very soft on the "g"), Bjorn" is "Byorn", Anni Frid usually goes by Frida. Love your reactions and how you dive deep. You're learning and you teach me a lot, too.
Mayby you should check out Frida: I know there is something going on. It was a big hit when I was a kid.
They even were used in a hip-hop song, rumble in the jungle by the Fugees, they use a sample of an ABBA song
Love me some Abba tunes.
the abba videoclips were made by Lasse Hallstrom who in recent years has been a film producer - check out his resume.

@@Tom_McMurtry Hadn't considered live songs. Yes, she does take lead vocals with Björn on that live performance. Fun indeed!
Cassandra too.
@@chelseacharger Can't believe I overlooked that one, I love that song. I'll add it.
I miss the 70s. Great music, happy times.👌🥂🕺❤️🌼
Another great ABBA video is (Thank You for the music)
Both couples were married. And Benny and Frida lived together for many years before marrying.
Great reaction man! What guy in his right mind would break up with Agnetha😄
😆
What about Gimme Gimme a man after midnight............love it, can relate to it, need it, in tjis difficult time
I heard Angetha made that decision.
I Really Enjoy Your Reactions. Thank You for the Content!!
My number 1 ABBA song. If you want to see their session musicians a little more try their live at Wembley tour (my favourite there is Hole In Your Soul)..or The Dick Cavett Show another worthy watch #FortWorthFabian
It's great to see an honest reaction. I appreciate what you do Fabian!
much love
Great reaction! You are in serious trouble. Some of those ABBA tracks are seriously emotional!
The shoestring videos were directed by Lasse Hallström, a fellow Swede who went on to do Hollywood movies like the Ciderhouse Rules and Chocolat
Please do The Visitors! The most unexpected-sounding of all ABBA songs
And bewildering, probably, for someone born after the end of the Cold War!
Tension builds in ABBALAND.
One of they're best songs
BTW Anni-Frid is now Princess Anni-Frid, Dowager Countess of Plauen since her marriage to Heinrich Ruzzo, Prince Reuss of Plauen. So both a pop princess and an actual one. ;)

I will try to update this list every few videos. Hope you find it useful 😁🥰 Greatings from Poland ❤️ (And sorry if I made any grammar mistakes... My English is not so good 😅😂)
And if I can suggest you next ABBA song you should react to, I'll suggest "Money, Money, Money". I noticed that you attach a lot of importance to viedo clips. This song is one of ABBA's greatest hits, and also holds the title of the song with the best music video of all their songs. Sooo... It's just my opinion 😁🥰
I agree, I haven't seen any reactions to "Money, Money, Money". And "Voulez Vous".
I hope he uses your list, it's very good. 👍
‘Name Of The Game’ that’s a cool song too!
There were 2 couples and young kids involved in both relationships. It’s hard.
Why does it have to be me on the Australian tour is so good live to watch
All the dance moves by Frida (Agnetha was getting changed for a different performance - the girl with the golden hair set of songs that ABBA did)
I agree... a fantastic performance...
@@rebeccasimantov5476 he's done it now! Yeah it is beautifully fun for sure :)
*Coming from a native Swede* The band members were couples; Agneta (the blonde) was married to Björn (the clean-shaven man), and Anni-Frid (the redhead) was married to Benny (the bearded man), but they later got divorced, and I think, I THINK, that this song is in significance to that.
Beautiful music is beautiful music.
Byorn
Great presentation, thanks.
So sad when the band broke up - they had the most awesome sound!
the iconic sideshots is a ABBA signature
Agnetha (Anna) was married to Björn (1971 - 1980). Anni-Frid (Frida) was married to Benny for a short time as well (1978 - 1981).
Isn't the same the time was 'Official married' than the time was 'Living together' or be a Couple
Agnetha & Björn living together or be a Couple about nine years (1969/1978)
Frida & Benny living together or be a Couple twelve years (1969/1981)
It's really half half in all their many many songs that the lead is shared, as well as that third voice of them combined with no lead. With a little bit of leads from the guys sometimes.
This is a top song for me -this song blast away sounds great . They were both married . This song was way before they broke up . looks like they predicted their future .
They were all married to each other. It's two couples that make the band. So they all rotate with various songs, styles, etc.
And somehow it works.
ABBA is a great group
Try listen to "Fernando". Anni-Frid sings alone for a while
Money Money Money - the video to that song is the director's favorite, and it's really really great.
This song breaks my heart every time.
Just joined your rabbit hole jump so carry on I'll catch up soon. A great group of my youth and I like your reactions
Benny and Frida were married between 1978 and 1981
Frida's fur coat look comfy
This song was done 3 years BEFORE The Winner takes it ALL. Before they divorced. It's NOT a song about them.
