To me the best years for music were the 60's up to around 1990 - so many talented people and the record labels would take time to allow artists to develop and find an audience. There's still new music out there worth listening to but you have to really seek it out. As for ABBA, you remind me of myself years ago when I first discovered their music. I could not get enough.

I'm loving that you've discovered this great band, JB. And you're right, they could pull off many different styles. And each member brought something special to the group. Keyboard player Benny wrote most of the music. His ability to weave simply but beautiful melodies, counter-melodies, and musical licks together is amazing. Each part is so simple, but the way he wove them together like a tapestry... beautiful. And of course, both girls have excellent voices, and they blend together seamlessly. Sadly, ABBA wasn't taken seriously in the US because of the way they dressed. They were called corny, and it wasn't cool to like ABBA in the 70s. But looking back, their songs stack up well or better than other music coming out at that time. Love them.

I agree with you. In our days there is less love in our actions in what we do so there is less passion. There is to much gray everywhere. We need color. We need love. We need happiness. It is hard when there is to many peope trying to tell others how to be. What they can say or not. And job that do not pay enough so people can have project for there own like before. You know, in those days, one job was enough to raise a familly. Today it is impossible unless you have a great job on top, even then it is hard.
So, musique should be more about magic, emotion, passion.

The thing that makes James different from other reactors is his ability to look past the visuals and focus on the melodies and lyrics.
That's refreshing, and also important because -- let's face it -- there are A LOT of music videos that are pretty crap and/or downright bizarre, and a poor reflection of the songs the represent. People of James's generation understandably expect flashy graphics and images, and old music videos often just can't live up to those expectations. I'm glad that this isn't a problem for him. 😉

Your reaction vids are by far the best ones to encounter here on yt. The combination of comments, mimics, and expression of emotions is worth to be watched, 'cause it opens New views on Music. Thanks for your valuable work!

Great reaction!!! Practically all ABBA songs are a must. Check Head Over Heels - it's amazing, and so is the video to it. They also have genius unreleased songs, which are easily found here on TH-cam - Just Like That and Hamlet III. Both songs are beyond beautiful. Those girls could transform a good song into a masterpiece!

Hey J. Thanks for that ❤. I haven't seen or heard this video/song in decades. This time it got to me. I saw that it moved you too. I sort of 'fell in love' with Anni-Frid Lyngstad when I was about twelve in the early 70's. I loved Frida's dance moves, seeing her happy. The sadness hit my heart.

Yes, Knowing me, knowing you" was released years before the 2 couples broke up. But it MAY have been inspired by some difficulties in their relationships, above all in the one from Björn and Agnetha. What makes ABBA so extremely great, is not only their outstanding, unparalleled music - a row of so many hits, and also the incredible talents of all 4 of them. It's also the fact that they dealt with their broken relationships (Björn + Agnetha: in late 1978, Benny and Frida in late autumn of 1980) in such an extremele mature, good way. The fact that the fab 4 from Sweden are simply so grounded, humble and likeable people.

My favorite of theirs is I Have A Dream. It wasn’t as big a hit, but I really think you would like it. Even if you don’t do a video, you owe it to yourself to listen to it.

Abba are one of the most successful bands in popular music history. In the UK, they had around 20 top ten singles, 9 number 1 singles and 9 number one albums. Abba Gold is the UK's second best selling album of all time.
