I have ALWAYS KNOWN I am only human I hurt too at times. This connection has always been unconditional and still is. I do wonder though at times if you genuinely hate me. I don't hate you and I don't think I ever could. I am a real person, it's how I was made and you will always know where you stand with me. Your games don't work on me bcos I understand why you play them ,I just get it. I meant it when I said I am very proud of you for being you and making it in the world on your own terms. I genuinely care about you and will try and look out for you. Unconditional love ❤ Lana.
It's a blast going on this journey with you. You obviously are not born into Abba love but I see and feel sincere realistic reaction to something you have appreciation for. This makes your reactions a lot more authentic in what I see as a crowded new market in modern media. Count me as a follower!
So spoilt from you today #FortWorthFabian, love how u are exploring their history. I can see your mind clicking over with every little tidbit here. As a life time ABBA fan I know u have only just scratched the surface and can't wait for u to see what us diehard fans already know.
Like how you are researching ABBA. They have a very full history, a rich hard working life, with all the ups and downs that are common in humans. Thank you for sharing it so the younger viewers can know ABBA.
Regarding singing in different languages, ABBA also did a whole album in Spanish, capturing the Latin American world and introducing themselves to a whole new market! Very savvy!!
You are quickly becoming one of my favorite reactors and not just for ABBA I have watched some of your other reactions, you always have thoughtful commentary!!
The guy you recognised is Paul Gambaccini , Known as "The Great Gambo", appears as a contributor in many documentaries re musicians because of his wealth of knowledge . He was for many years a presenter on BBC Radio
can't decide whether Abba or The Beatles are my favourite band of all time. I was just born too late for The Beatles so... So great to see so many people appreciating them now.
YES! Now You got to hear Bjorn say "Agnetha" the way it's pronounced in Swedish - so, all You got to do is rewind this "first part" (to where he talks about them buying a cabin on that island...) - and You'll have her name down pat in no time!😉 It was a lot of fun watching Your reaction to "Part One" - looking forward to "Part Two", my friend!💕
I've watched several of your reaction videos for the first time tonight. Man, you get it! You understand music, how a song is put together, videography. So many people who do reaction videos just sit there and moan or sigh or make insipid comments, but you're the best I've seen. I really learn something new about songs you review every time. Thank you! I look forward to watching more.
5:37 this is the Greatest ABBA song S.O.S. gives to ABBA their second worldwide hit #6 in UK #15 in US #1 in Germany (7 weeks) #1 in South Afrika, Australia and another countries This is the Official Vídeo, it's great! if check in Your playlist could see that S.O.S. is the one with more visits of your 14 reactions until today
You have hit the nail on the head! The ones that follow the trends are here today and gone tomorrow! The ones that follow their own inclinations and develop their own style... their own sound ....are the ones that will be here forever! That's where you get timeless music!
The Beatles once had the top 5 positions in the Billboard charts. ABBA didn't make it big early in the USA due to lack of promotion. But we knew them and their 1979 tour was successful. Australia was the match that lit their success. ABBA is in my opinion, 1A to the Beatles. I can't give them a higher compliment. I lived during the time of both. So glad you love ABBA. They are magic.
Australia were definitely the quickest country to pick them up but they we're also the quickest country to drop them only a couple of years later when they were still at the height of their fame, like a child with a new toy that quickly gets bored and throws it away. It was Sweden, Germany & The UK that stayed loyal to them right up to the end. From SOS reaching UK No6 it was just hit after hit after hit. The couple of songs that came in between Waterloo and SOS weren't massive hits in The UK but they DID chart there.
How nice and good is see you with this specialy reactions that nobody did before I love the way that You take this reactions in a few days with so pasion! This videos give you and us much of the answers in ABBA hits and history Is amazing to see and listen the Fab Four from Sweden And are live! Agnetha 70 Benny 74 Frida & Björn 75
@FortWorthFabian Hi Fabian you touched on their translation on Waterloo the interesting thing in the 1960’s Benny was in the Hep Stars he did covers American and English artists he then began writing in English his first song Sunny Girl he even knocked the Beatles Ticket to ride on the Swedish No1 Spot , Björn in the Hootenany Singers a Folk group he too wrote in English and his ability to speak different languages and Bennys ability multiple instruments from the Piano through to a sitar and Bennys love off folk , Reggae ,Rock and Pop plus they were writing for Swedish bands such as Blue Sued featuring Björn Skiffs God created these guys to make great music and that they are still do these guys like so many non English speaking composers have my upmost respect.
It’s easy to forget They had only a couple hours of darkness in the summer, and in the winter it was the opposite. So the little cabin on the island was probably perfect
Wow! You have had quite the ABBA filled day today (or yesterday that is). I watched the four different ABBA music video reactions you did yesterday and I thought that was quite a bit of content to dive into especially that you are still just beginning to familiarize yourself with them. Then I’m up early this morning here in LA and I see you’ve uploaded your reaction vids to the “In Their Own Words” documentary! Dang! I really enjoyed this first part and more so because of what you said about yourself and your background and musical aspirations. I loved how you really picked up on Bjorn’s sensibilities when he discussed being influenced by the music of many different countries and cultures. Also, how the final version of “Chiquitita” was arrived at with the word itself playing such an important factor because of the percussive sound of it. BTW, I have been checking out your other videos and the ones you did on Carpenters really struck me especially seeing how moved you were by Karen. Looking forward to watching the rest of your ABBA documentary reaction and as an ABBA fan since 1975 (SOS was my very first record as a little kid) it’s really amazing seeing someone discovering my all time favorite band. 😊
after worldwide succes with "Waterloo" in Eurovision and charts, ABBA don't find the second hit inmediatly and it arrives in two lands: 1) in Australia with "I do I do I do I do I do" (#1 three weeks) follow by "Mamma Mia" (#1 ten weeks!) 2) in Germany with "S.O.S." Good job. It is a rare thing to see a reactor do research to understand an artist or group. Information and knowledge are powerful. Others want the answers given to them. You are proactive. I admire you.
I really enjoy watching this & love your love & interest in Abba, timeless music that we still love! I remember listening to their albums in the 70’s back home in my beloved Sweden, reading & trying to follow the English lyrics. Thank you for doing this! Enjoy your take on it!
It was so nice when women on stage didn't make themselves over the top and distract from the music. No over the top dancing or sexiness...........refreshing.
I am so glad I found you. Lifelong ABBA fan but speaking at the end of this video you speak of a catching phrase which becomes the title, I just wanted to say what Bjorn speaks of is much like Sir Paul McCartney of the Beatles when he states "Hey Jules becomes, Hey Jude." Man, I love your videos. Will subscribe. 👍 ❤ 😎
I really like your page. Just as an apology, I posted a TH-cam video and did not expect a response. Times are tough but, I will definitely be a Patreon fan. Keep it up!!!!!
I've been an ABBA fan since the 70's. I love their songs just because I do but really appreciate the variety, methods of writing, and that they are true to themselves not trends. I have three bands that I could not live without - ABBA, the Beatles, and XTC. They all have those qualities. I love what you've been doing your ABBA journey. As an XTC fan I fall into the rabid category. There've been some reactions to them but never something like this. It likely wouldn't be super popular but maybe some ware down the line a handful. Making Plans for Nigel, Senses Working Overtime, and Mayor of Simpleton would be good examples of their work. I'm behind so I have to get watching the rest of your videos. Thanks.
When you're talking about getting out there on the global arena, let me just remind you that there were no internet connection, no mobile phones... But it happened anyway! Impressive!
Indeed the documentary has a very British perspective on their success though it matches their ambition to break in the UK the most important. After Waterloo they had Honey Honey a #2, So Long #11, I Do I Do I Do #7, until a year after Waterloo they hit #1 again with SOS. But Germany was artistically not their focus. It had always been the UK. After Germany it was Australia that quickly became hooked on ABBA but just after their most famous 1977 tour down under the love cooled down and they struggled down under and they never went back... in the UK they were really ignored with their Waterloo follow up singles until SOS went to number 6 a year later. Mamma Mia was not even considered to be a single. Only when Australian Radio DJs picked it up they did the video to promote the song down under and agreed to release it as single in Australia. Of course it became a huge number one which led them to release it as the last !!! and fourth single of their 1975 studio album..
ABBA was SOOOOOOOO uncool in europe in the eighties due to their inspirations from the never cool german schlägers. Guess what nobody remembers the schlägers anymore and ABBA stands above as totally unique in music history.
Want story’s add to your list George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne The Traveling Willburys The traveling Wilburys part 1&2.
As you said there are advantages in the digital age because, in general, you don't deal with record companies. You have Spotify, SoundCloud, etc. However, nowadays the music is so generic because most pop singers want quick success and that won't translate most of the time in the longevity of their music career.
Stay tuned - they have five new songs coming out! Apart from that check out Gemini: Another me, another you And of course: Kristina från Duvemåla - a musical about Swedish immigrants seeking good fortune in the United States
The wonderful thing is that they are all alive, and working (except Agnetha who just wants to stay home). They are all between 70 and 75, are still very capable of writing music (Benny), Lyrics (Bjorn), and singing (Frida and Bjorn). They are a wonderful group.
I really am not a fan of "reaction" videos, there are so many and most just clown around thinking its cool. YOU however know what you are talking about and its actually interesting to hear your opinion and analysis. I am a subscriber now :)
Great analysis of the ABBA musical Soundscape - both in the documentary AND in Your reaction Fabian. I know that no one , NO ONE in the English speaking world has ever pronounced Björn Ulvéus's christian name correct, so here's a simple rule: The vocal sound in Björn should be pronounced as the word "Earn", ok? Easy. Meaning "Bear", the animal. Yes, I'm Swedish - been a pop, rock, prog and punk musician since the 1960:s and followed the ABBA phenomenon through the years. First critically since it was "compulsory" to NOT like ABBA in the 70:s if You were a serious Pop or Rock musician. But after ABBA disbanded something slowly happened. "Hmm ... SOME song are actually quite good" a.s.o. I bought my first ever ABBA Cd, (a triple compilation), 1991 and started listen with an open mind. So it happened that I discovered "One of us" and it brought tears to my eyes, so I put it on "Repeat" and cried again and again and Again! The rest is History ... Björn and Benny I must admit - they are up there on the parnass together with Lennon & McCartney. Amazingly enough their repective musical backgrounds are almost quite mediocre - Björn played guitar and sang in i the quartet "Hootenanny Singers", Benny played his Vox organ in the somewhat rowdy pop group "Hep Stars", (Google them if You like). But when they came together something almost miraculous happened: One+One became Three, and Four and counting. The Lennon/McCartney Effect, Really! Once again - Thanx for Your in depth reactions to Swedens possible best ever Pop Export!
One of the best songs Björn and Benny have written is rather unknown outside Sweden. It is You have to be there from the musical Kristina. m.th-cam.com/video/61ZIsdrlxnY/w-d-xo.html The musical is based on some in Sweden very famous novels about immigrants to US in 19th century. The song is about the leading character doubting her faith in God after a misscarriage.
Just watch the songs for the first time in full and people will still love ya hearing it, and so will you :) There's also a heap of brilliant songs that aren't in this doco. Pretty much 90 percent of there songs are great rather than good. Unheard of.
watched several ABA docs. My mom has ALL their remastered cds. I DL them A lot of people pass off ABBA as just some old disco band. I generally just disregard their opinion altogether ABBA was far more original than that
Believe it or not, during most of the 80s, people were embarrassed to admit that they were ABBA fans. ABBA were considered corny, not cool, a joke. It wasn't until "ABBA Gold" was released in 1992 that people revisited their music again and began to appreciate them again. When "Mamma Mia the Musical" opened in London in 1999 and then on Broadway in 2001, and then the movie in 2008, that's when ABBA exploded and continues to find new fans to this day.
music of today is boring in comparison, very few new ideas hence too many similar sounding artists, yes Abba used many different influences but the key words...we made it our own..
Very Interesting! Comment BELOW!! PART 2 th-cam.com/video/cMz--1d9C3s/w-d-xo.html
You might also find Frida and Benny's speeches when they were inducted into the Rock & Roll hall of fame to be of interest.

Great reactions! Love that you do your homework! Who's Lana??!! Lol. The comment professing her undying love to you ....I think! LOL
In 1980 they recored their greatest hits in Spanish. The spanish version of Chiquitita still is one of the best singles of all time in Latin America

The musical is based on some in Sweden very famous novels about immigrants to US in 19th century.
Unheard of.
Sweet thanks
You have to do, "Does Your Mother now?"
Only one issue with the Girls, dancing not there best quality. But their music makes up for everything.
watched several ABA docs. My mom has ALL their remastered cds. I DL them
A lot of people pass off ABBA as just some old disco band. I generally just disregard their opinion altogether
ABBA was far more original than that
Well said
Believe it or not, during most of the 80s, people were embarrassed to admit that they were ABBA fans.
Some people were embarassed in the 80s...not all people..just for the record...
They wrote nearly all their songs in English originally, so didn't need to change the lyrics.
React to when I kissed the teacher the video is in a classroom.
music of today is boring in comparison, very few new ideas hence too many similar sounding artists, yes Abba used many different influences but the key words...we made it our own..
