Dude, that's no a brain fart. That's just not knowing how to improvise or use scales. Even when you have a brain fart it's pretty easy to realize it and correct it, and still do a shitty solo and no go this bad. He just should've practiced or left the guitar at home.
The rhythm section was off beat, it threw him off. It's not their fault but it's a valid reason for a mistake. Pro performers experience these errors and are able to improvise. This was a rehearsed solo from a novice guitarist who attempted to perform it on a bigger stage. It was a poor performance, but not horrible for a near beginner.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a prince fan. But as a guitar player and musician, I have to disagree with you. Prince is far from being the goat. He knows one scale and he actually messed up his solo too. Lol

For those of you taking my post seriously, please don't. Being a Prince fan myself, I am fully aware of his immeasurable talent. There's a world of difference between a musical genius (Prince) and a teen idol with a guitar (Jonas) as proven in this video.
I show this to my guitar students as what can happen if you don't practice your licks, and don't have an escape route when things go wrong. This is the sign of a bad guitarist. A good guitarist can recognize "oh crap I'm lost" and fall back on some easy licks to make it out of the solo, and still sound like it wasn't a complete screw up. If the average non guitar playing person, can tell it's a screw up, it's a BAD SCREW UP.

He doesn't seem to have any clue what to do, once he's out of sync with what he's got memorized.

@@Gingermushroom500 Tele is a straight lead guitar for me great for solos and riffage imo. Strats are great for lead as well don't get me wrong but also really good for rhythm. Check out Cory Wong he plays crazy good rhythmic funk on the Strat.
Teles are surprisingly versatile. My tele has a set of 64 vintage pups and the bridge isn't too twangy like teles are known for, sounds great with overdrive.
I mean if you could only have one electric guitar to do everything, a tele is probably the best choice out of any of the major contenders. Prince did all that with a Hohner knockoff- although I imagine there might have been some upgrades along the line.

Just cover gigs but still, the pressure can be set on as easily as it being a new venue, a large or boisterous crowd, or a guitar player from a different band being in the audience. @@Sherrygamespvtltdkinda makes sense, but he has been a musician his whole life, and held a guitar on video many times over the years. All of that for us to find out he isn't ready to do solos yet, but he still does one anyway? I'd wish he used this time to show off his great singing voice that he perfected for years rather than bringing in a cranky guitar solo.

@@sydguitar99 Theres a difference between being able to write and play songs to sing too. And do a good guitar solo thats probably improvised considering he fucked it up.
Yeah and playing guitar solos is a completely different thing....its a separate skill or "thing" than knowing how to play a song.
The fact that he missed one note and kinda froze tells you that he is not comfortable at all doing that. Prince could have missed a note and still sound good. But Prince is Prince.
