In hanging victims, dropping them by few yards mean can kill them instantly within few seconds. I have seen films of executions from decades ago.
Why think about it? Apart from identifying realistic danger - or if you are faced with death imminently - there's not much point. I don't even want to know. I prefer to think about life.
