- So many memories come back! What a great game, what a great story, definitely a legendary J-RPG.
I hope to record more .hack// soundtrack music in the future~
Anyway this is kind of a test to get used to the new recording system I use.

@whitemeth Well, 6 years later and I am listening to this again cuz of your reply hahaha. I'll be honest, it gets a little harder to listen to with time. The nostalgia gets that much worse. But I understand what you mean. It makes me want to cry too
This song... Is a part of my heart and you played it flawlessly. Thank you for sharing... So many memories indeed. I had around 342 hours into the g.u. games total lol
What I think I love about this song the most is it somehow holds no emotion.
I mean that in no offensive way. I mean that it is such a clear slate kind of theme, it's so generic and plain in expressing an emotion.. Is it is "Desktop theme". It means nothing. It is default. It is for everybody, and it does not mean to make an attention-grabbing statement. I think everybody can like it.. Or, at least, not dislike it too much.
Somehow, though, this symbolism is emotive in itself. I always felt calm coming back to this song after going through so much drama in the storyline. Haseo is such a troubled kid.
When I was younger, and just started out playing MMORPGs, I practically lived in them. I was homeschooled and autistic.
A lot of the time I would do things like Atoli did-- I was probably depressed like her, too. And I probably played as much as the shut-in Endrance.
I would enjoy little things like pixelated flowers. I would enjoy things outside of the game's expectation (battles) and make believe that this fake world was real, because I hated the real world so much. It was boring and frustrating. A lot of people would tell me I had no emotion. My own mom told me I had "no imagination". I had no push. I just didn't care about anything. But at least, being in the game-- or being connected with computers in general, which seemed to make perfect sense-- gave me a lot of peace.
So.. I guess this song means a lot to me personally, and emotionally, in it being not emotive. Do you understand what I'm trying to say? I don't really know how to explain it well, though...
Playing .hack//G.U. when I got older and didn't play MMORPGs as much was a really magical experience; the writers really captured the feeling I had playing MMORPGs when I was younger. There's so many points of views of real players in that game. The universe felt so real. I want to thank .hack for making me feel a little bit normal, somehow. (Honestly, though, I still wish I could find players like this. They're so rare now. Everyone's obsessed with progression, like Haseo.. But at the same time, I'm becoming like that too. Maybe it's a good thing.. I don't know.)
As for this cover, it's absolutely perfect. I'm a little scared it will get knocked down, too, because it sounds so similar to the original.
Will Cook That was a beautiful story. Thank you, and I want to tell you that I relate a lot to that, but for a much smaller reason (the fact that I was very young at the time and just wished a game like The World could really exist).

haha no problem, I had the link ready for you as well :) it is available for download at ichigos.com, although the tempo is messed up like most other midi files you find in these pages.
Yeah, I noticed that, too. Was trying to play it on Synthesia, but the tempo is throwing me off - it seems to fluctuate between "ok" and "woah, way too fast." :P That said... would it be ok if I mirrored and extended this song on my own channel? I don't monetize songs on my channel, I just create repeating versions of them. (I would create a direct link to this video as well.)
***** Well, if what you want is to have a synthesia video for this song I could make it. I would fix the tempo for the file from ichigos or I could even search on my HDD because I might still have the midi recording for my performance of it. If you really want to use my video on your channel... well, I guess it's ok, but there is already one video on youtube of this song being extended and looped.

I am replaying the game from the start. Ahh the memories. I just love it when I log out of The World, into the desktop and have this bgm playing. It just works perfectly. Throughout the 3 game's part, I never changed the desktop's bgm. I remembered when I was playing this years ago on my PS2, I'd leave the game on playing this bgm, while I do my stuffs or even sleep. Thank you for this PianoHaiku! Subscribed!
+Sicky Silly Oh and playing it on PCSX2 right now, hot damn feels like a remaster HD with all the graphic settings that you can tweak by yourself. If anyone is interested, I might even record my gameplay, though, I'm almost done with the first disc. Probably will start recording my gameplay on disc 2. If anyone is interested that is... Hurr.
+Sicky Silly It makes me happy to see that people still play this game, because masterpieces are timeless. I was planning on replaying the game as well, possibly on PCSX2 too, but I never tried the HD mod so it'll be a good chance to try :P
haha I think we all did that at some point, staying on the Altimit desktop to listen to this bgm :D The whole OST is just brilliant.

Darkness Realm It's problably just a rumor ... Although last month was GU's 10th anniversary, so if there is something to be announced now is the perfect time with E3 happening in 2 weeks :P

+PianoHaiku Yeah. Man, if CC made a new .Hack, that would be my most anticipated game for that year. I'm pretty sure that Namco is just going to have CC continue working on Naruto games, and they're also busy working on the FF7 Remake.
