on fucking god. back when i was a kid i hit a typo on some anime streaming websites, and i saw .hack the anime, i ignored it first but it was always stuck in my head, i wondered what it was about but somehow i never got to watch it. After 10 years i look in the switch store, and the game was 90% off?? again i found it after 1 hour of scrolling down. I thought to myself, dude 6 bucks aint much lets dive into it.

The first volume of the Sword Art novel was actually .Hack fanfiction that was initially rejected by JUMP Magazine.
It got turned into its own thing later on -- and it still sucked.

TheSlammurai as someone that is a huge fan of .hack, i must say, first season of sao was very good.
as someone who has read the light novels of SAO and watched all of dot hack several years ago, I gotta say I'm more in favor of SAO only because SAO actually gets into the mindset of an MMO player and deals with the MMO aspects of the story. Dot hack delves more into the real world and tech references of the late 90s and early 2000. Both are great forms of storytelling and for tl:dr purposes SAO mmo story set for mmo players. Dot hack story telling's that just uses MMO setting as a back drop but does not portray what an MMO is in essence.

.hack// is such a great series. I found out about it years ago due to a PS2 Demo Disc that Game Informer Magazines used to have. I could never forget my first time finding out about the .hack// series through G.U. Volume 1 on a demo disc.
The story is wonderful characters amazing. But I actually played recoded. The gameplay is dated. My dream game would be a remake or spiritual successor with a dmc style combat system.
The story of this game made me inspired to write my own story. The story just impacted me somehow. Maybe because my sister and I played this game together all the time. This game just holds a special place in my heart because of all the characters that you meet. Everyone of them so unique. Ever scene somewhat heart breaking. Ever since I played the remake and ended it I just feel a small void. The story was over. I seemed like I had nothing left, so I decided to write my own story about this game. I loved it so much that I wanted the story to continue with new characters and old ones to. I wanted to see the grow, even if I brought in other characters from different series I didn’t care. I just wanted to continue the story I once loved. That’s how empowering this game was. I just wish it wasn’t so underrated. It was one of the best bonding moments between me and my sister. Now it seems like I have nothing left besides this small story in my hands. But I know a gentle hand will reach towards me and guide me along. One day. But that day may not be now.

First of all, no, Guilty Dragon was a shitty card-collecting-"RPG", it bombed. Guilty dragon's service only lasted a year before shut down, game's population was pathetic, and all it was trying to do was cashing in on the franchise, because other than set in the same universe, and having the characters we know as cards, excuse me, LEGENDARY CARDS (yeah, real subtle there BanCo) it practically has nothing to do with .hack.
Bandai Namco hailed project N.U. as the comeback of .hack series, but really, what they're trying to revive is Guilty Dragon, because they want that sweet sweet, trash mobile game cash cow.
I'm pretty surprised that my comment got 4 upvotes, since what I'm conveying really was:

I felt so satisfied with the finale of this series. It was so fun and so well written. It's so cool to have started a series with an anime in my childhood, go through all the games and anime through the years, and finally finish the series in my adulthood with volume 4 of G.U.

Should hit up Vol 4 in the G.U. Recode. I really like how all 4 games are together. I play through them whenever I feel like I have nothing else to do and want to listen to the nostalgic music.
Played the remake in a weekend it was nostalgia straight to my veins. It also brought back some of the memories from playing it the first time. The good and bad times flowed right back to my mind. To live in the World is to take them both in stride. I long to return to that eternal city...

okay so hear me out, Haseo in Smash bros is unrealistic but it sounds so good, like a Mac Anu stage that teleports around The World and Gentle Hands in Smash Bros like, dang bro, I'd sign up instantly.

i remember picking up hack gu vol.2 at gamestop then i went down and hunting for the other vols for gu and i found rebirth when i went to school for $10 brought it as for vol.3 had to travel far to get it for $27 back then when i played a whole sesson of all three i cried when i finished now namco make an hd remake please and also the original as well

They announced that there working on a crossover game combining SAO and dot hack and all main characters would be NPC's you could find in the game. there wanting it to be an MMO on consoles with cross platform play. So we might be waiting a little wile for X-box and Play Station to work the bugs out of that before we ever publicly see mention of the game outside of interviews.
Well that even more fucked up , all we wanted is a god dam pure dot hack game with the art that suppost to be the master piece since the .hack//G.U Trilogy dammit -_- , we don't wan't those SAO bastard corrupt the pefect world that cannot be changes , what was they thinking :/

2022 and I got a wave of nostalgia recently so I decided to give this a listen.

I recently played through the trilogy (plus the extra chapter) via the remake. It's still as good as I remember it and made better with the graphical upgrades and smooth fps. Listening to the songs just makes me smile instantly.
Looking forward to what comes next for the .hack saga since it was teased at the end of the remake.

I grew up with the .hack franchise, becoming a MASSIVE fan but (rather annoyingly) after watch SAO I keep getting images of SAO in my head when I listen to this music.

Really? I can't imagine why. SAO is fine but there's not way for it compete with dot hack given all the space it has had to create it's worlds and develop it's characters. SAO couldn't hope to match that level with the current amount of content it has, and probably won't have that shot at all unless it happens to start making high quality console games just like the dot hack series did.
JakRizen2 its not the games that make .hack good its the characters development that make the series what it is, its more then the need to get away from life, like bear he plays the game so he can be a father finger to players to replace his deadbeat son, or tsukasa trying to get away from her father and his abuse. and yes SAO has nothing as deep as this. by the way im sorry if i may have insulted you with this, that was not what i meant by commentating, and im sure you know the above info. thank you.
i know the feeling re watch some old episodes somewhere it will make you feel better, not to decredit SAO bit it did not rise to the expectation, also i also suggest Log Horizon.
Lock Card I haven't seen log horizon is it any good? Because I've heard mixed things about it I've heard some people say it's the greatest thing since Sao and I've heard some people say that it's better than Sao and I've heard others say that it's you know a pile of garbage. I mean I'm going to be honest I did like sword art online I thought it was good however I wasn't like several other people that believe it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I feel the same way about attack on Titan.

Magatsu Muramasa --> Project G.U = a plan to find Aura again. She dissapier in the dot hack vol.4. They uses that project to recreate Cubia and then, Aura.. That plan fail and The World loses 80% of their files and closes. a litttle time ago, the world R2 has open.. Try to read The End Of World, thats explain everything ( sorry about bad english, i'm brasilian xD >

Nostalgic song, i having a little bit emotional remembering old times.. Sheesh now i want to play the game again.
I remember playing all of 3 volumes in high schools and when I finished it, it feels like big part of my life was taken away. it feels like The World has become my world, LOL. And this is one of few games which I spent so many hours in it, beside KH II in my favourit list.
