    Commendable effort considering he’s solo and not drafting anyone or using a TT/aero bike like I’ve seen on other KOM attempt videos on TH-cam.

    What do you think about Caad 10 in full black version? I don't know exactly what year that model came out, but I have it for sale used for 650 euros. That's a lot of money in the country where I live.

    Love to see how large of an angle there is in John's knee at the bottom of the pedal stroke, and how forward his knees are. 4 Years ago, I was "professionally" fitted on my Venge with what appeared to be an outdated ipad, and some Specialized app step tutorial installed for the bike fitter. I requested an endurance position because I was new to the aggressive geometry. I trusted the process, and thought it made a big difference. 3 years later, I purchased a Marin Nicasio Plus, and did all the saddle adjusting myself. I've found myself far more comfortable with the saddle lower, and nearly slammed forward. Anytime I ride my Venge now, I feel like I produce 20% less power compared to my Marin.

    • @johns3106
      @johns3106 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I often shake my head at how the cycling community has come to believe that a professional bike fit is a “must”. Unless someone has very odd body dimensions or a peculiar physical difficulty, I think a bike fitting is a good way to throw away a bunch of money. For the vast majority of riders, getting a comfortable, efficient position on the bike just isn’t that hard to achieve if you follow the basic, long-known fundamentals of bike fit and do a little tweaking on your own.

    • @TheRidewithBenDelaney
      @TheRidewithBenDelaney  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing your experience. Part of John's relatively big knee bend is due to how far forward he is on the saddle for that climb. When Lachlan Morton did his Everest world record in Rist Canyon up in Fort Collins, he moved his saddle forward and up, according to Todd Carver at Retül who tweaked his position.

    • @marcolgyrubish9498
      @marcolgyrubish9498 ปีที่แล้ว

      @TheRidewithBenDelaney Ah, i'm a big fan of Rist! Had no clue that's where the record was/is held. I really appreciate the way you spotlight Colorado cyclists. Some riders out there are remarkable, and they deserve recognition.

    I get the idea of the bike. Definitely need disc brakes going up a mountain to set a world record. You may need to panic brake if a bear jumps out in the path, Yes I get it.

      @@markxkovacic but that noodle cockpit is ridiculous. He was prolly nervous it would snap when dude was flexing it. I wouldn't trust it unless it was strictly a climbing bike.
