I'm alway managing my expectations for games these days...but I'm really excited for this...Harry Potter was a big part of my childhood really loved the characters and lore👌🏻
Same here. Honestly, seeing how in-depth this game goes and how similarly yet small-scale Hogwarts Mystery on mobile is, I'm just excited its a big console brand game again like in the ps2 era. Plus, maybe some of the story will give me material to plug into my Potterverse fanfics
I might be too late to say this but it’s confirmed that you can link your pottermore account to the game so you can do the Pottermore House Quiz and when you play the game the sorting hat will sort you into the house you got.

I hope they add a wizard history class because I honestly wouldn’t mind sitting through hours of lecture for that. Also I hope they have you take a quiz that places you in the house that best fits you like wizard 101 or pottermore
Why arent people telling the devs to add a personality screen in the creation of your character. They can go about it a couple ways. Ask questions, or have scenarios and people choose an option . There’s probably even better ways. But a personality test should be in the game, that way it chooses the correct house for you in the best way. You won’t know your results until you get assigned obviously

@@OldSoulNewLife There's an official site that predates the game, where you answer questions and get assigned a wand, a house, and a patronus. So the devs considered it better to link your account instead of creating a whole new system.
I'm disappointed Quidditch won't be a thing in the game, but considering how big the game looks and how good it looks, I'm sure the dev team wanted to add quidditch but thought it would be too much with their current resources. Maybe in a later update or so, they'll add it, but I'm happy with what I'm seeing for right now.

Thanks a lot, it's frustrating sitting through a video wondering if they have special info, something new or maybe unique theories to realize at the end it was only very basic stuff. You're a time saver.
It probably won't. Also 72 hour early is a classic in live service games or similar garbage, so lets hope it's not that either. Your house probably won't matter either, besides maybe giving you a starting freidnship bonus with a certain npc or 2, or a different diologue string when talking about your home rep or whatever. 99% sure it won't do anything impactful or add replayability, similar to cyberpunk's system. You're gonna get wrapped up in the plot regardless, and the story still needs to be somewhat accurate since it leads to what we know of. Warner brothers are definetly not know to be adventurous, ground breaking or risk taking in direction, so expect something pretty linear and safe. I'd be ecstatic to be wrong though. Heres hoping

The character is riding a hippogriff Griffins and hippogriffs are both mythological creatures with the parts of two different animals stuck on their body. The main difference is that a griffin is a mythological animal that is part lion and part eagle. Meanwhile, the hippogriff is a legendary creature that is part eagle and part horse.
i really hope this game delivers everything that it promises... it looks absolutely amazing! both visually and in terms of gameplay and just the scale of it all... i haven't been so excited for a game in ages!
I remember playing the order of Phoenix game back in the day and it was awesome! That game had some open world elements too. Casting spells using specific mouse movements to move the wand, etc. Really looking forward to this one!
Damn right, it was the best Harry Potter game. Half blood Prince was also good and had a potion making mini game that was done to perfection. But those games lacked depth tbh. Also missions felt like chores and weren't exciting enough. But most of us played those games for exploration only anyways.

My faves were the original final HP games on PS1 and PS2, the classes were challenges to get a new spellbook. Wonder if it will be learning simulation this time?
Ever since I played the prisoner of azkaban on PS2, I've been waiting for more of that and it's never quite come. Order of the phoenix had exploration but not in a way where it would evolve into a dungeon and then evolve into something important to the story. I'm really hoping this will be similar in that respect although I'm not holding any hope for having as pitch perfect a tone as that game did with its childlike whimsy mixed with creative threat. This will have a little bit of the order of the phoenix/half blood Prince games sauce in terms of being fun and light-hearted with side characters and story elements and dark with others but tonally play it safe by not being too "cartoonish" and try to be fairly realistic tonally because that's what's widely appealing I suppose.
I think it will be fun if the class system is like in Bully, where you can get something (either a new magic skill or an item) when you finish the class. And every class has its unique learning mechanism (mini-games).
I was a game tester for a Harry Potter game around 2008 and by the time the project was close to release I remember most of the testers started to actually enjoy testing and playing it, me included. This game makes me want to test games all over again. Guess I'll have to settle with buying it. Looks magical.
My number one question is whether lessons will be time sensitive, meaning that we have to attend certain classes at certain times and are penalised for not doing so, or if exploration is more of the primary focus and lessons can be completed as and when we wish.
Actually, I think it would be really cool if there was a randomize feature about choosing the houses. Like say we have to answer a set of randomized questions like those Buzzfeed quiz or something, and our answers would determine which house our character goes to. I think that would be an awesome method to quickly establish a connection with the world and story.

If they can pull all this off, i'd be very impressed. Would have loved to be able to play quidditch, maybe like in HP and the chamber of secrets as the seeker but races could be fun too.
Quidditch could ruin the experience, because it was a fun concept to watch but the game has so many flaws in it's scoring system that it makes the game fundementally bad. I mean don't get me wrong, the quidditch world cup was a fun game to muck about with for a couple hours, same as in the original harry potter games, but it would have aged terribly to be entertaining enough to dedicate resource to develop it. Maybe I'm being too synical, but I would't be mad if it wasn't included
one thing out of many is that I hope they make a clear mapping system where it tells you where to go if you're on a mission. I've had experiences with games like Jedi fallen order which is really good but the mapping system just made it complicated and frustrating. but if they have it a bit like spiderman I would be really happy
I feel like I’m gonna tear up while playing this. HP was the whole childhood and the kid part of me always wanted HP to be real and I always wanted to go to Hogwarts. To be able to do that, even if it’s just in a game, is going to bring so much joy

I'm hoping it's Bully but with loads of magic. also mixing different types of magic, like you can use portions to buff your character or you can solely specialize usin potions as bombs and such
The sorting hat should have set a tutorial mission in your mind. Depending on how you deal with the challenges it should sort you into a house like the pottermore quizzes
1:58 you said choosing your own house is not how it works in the actual wizarding world - but it is. The sorting hat wanted to put Harry in Slytherin, but ultimately placed him in Gryffindor because that was his choice. He got what he asked for. Fun fact :D
@@maxvosper9420 you’re absolutely correct. Harry persuaded the hat rather than making an outright choice. We know you’re right too because Neville begged to be in Hufflepuff and the hat placed him in Gryffindor anyway
What I wanna know is how will your house affect your playthrough? Maybe it'll affect stat growth, like Slytherin characters grow stealth and 'trickery' abilities more easily while Gryffindor would get more health/damage.
Also to elaborate on the house, you do get to choose it but can also link your wizarding world (formerly known as pottermore) account and be properly sorted into a house with a personality quiz, I also believe it will make a replica of what your wand would look like (another quiz) to really drive in the immersion.
FAQ has confirmed that there will be “no quidditch”. Though you will be able to fly around on a broom, take broom lessons, and there are flying challenges.
when they were describing you can fully explore the castle and that it would be full of secrets and puzzles...i'm excited, sounds so fun to me. just hope it's gonna be as good as it sounds so far
You are able to take a house quiz on the affiliated website that either allows you to find out what you'd be in, or forgo the option and select on your own. The website gives you wand and patronus picks, but not sure if those transfers to the main game.
I don't know if I've been this excited for a game in such a long time! Really hoping this one delivers, just being able to create your wizard and explore Hogwarts in a video game is so amazing, so it'll be tough for this one to fail for me. Hope its as amazing as it looks though.
the one thing I can't wait is to be able to use my personal patronus. I got a thestral as my patronus in the quiz so having the thestral mount while casting my thestral patronus would be so cool
I like how they introduce a lot of interesting concepts and gameplay mechanics to get us excited for the game, but they remained mostly vague as to what extent. It will be really interesting to see how they execute on these ideas
Two things I thought would be cool (I don’t know if they’ve mentioned yet or not)would be being able to customize like your wand and broom and also being able to get your own pet like owl or rat,I would choose a toad
I’m going to guess that’s a yes. Clothing/character customization should let you make a little Snape, but in terms of skills, you should be golden. Learning the Dark Arts works and combat magic looks amazing, and there is that hopping cauldron in the room of requirement that has a timer over it, indicating you will brew your own potions. You should be able to make your Snape.

1:58 actually I believe it was stated in the second book that a student can pick which house they want to be in if only they knew. Harry not wanting to be in Slytherin for example got him put into Gryffindor instead.

Harry appeared to influence the Sorting Hat when he said "Not Slytherin", so having a say in which house you're placed in is not unheard of in the Harry Potter universe. Just wanted to point that out.
@@aBadWizard this was because he had the bravery of a gryffindor and the reason the sorting hat took hints of slytherin was because of Voldemort being a party do him. But it is a game and suspension of disbelief has to be factored in for cannon stuff.
Dude literally had a bit of Voldemort in him, ofc the hat would suggest Slytherin. The only real difference between Gryffindor and Slytherin is that one always takes the high road when faced with adversity, and the other is ready to do whatever it takes.
Also might be worth mentioning that there will be an exclusive extra mission plus pre-order bonus on the Playstation. I do hope it will also be added to other platforms later.
For those wondering Hogwarts is a mix between books and films and the makers interpretations and re- interpretations of certain areas of what Hogwarts would have been in the 1800s
The more I think about it, I question why an open world RPG Harry Potter game wasnt made already. I'm going to wait for reviews, I feel that after Cyberpunk (I know its coming back with Edge runners but still) has tainted our trust issues when it comes to game launches, but looking forward to this one!
I loved the Harry Potter books and movies as a kid but I kinda grew up out of it. But this game gets me really excited about it. I can remember playing the 1st and 2nd games on ps1 and it was so fun. About the quidditch, I feel like it had to be a whole new game to create the physics of playing that. Kind of like a fifa game, but maybe harder to create the aspects of the game.
I hope they make classes time sensitive, where you can skip/miss classes, just so we can find the Time-Turner to go back. I think that would add a cool style and perspective for the game!
Actually choosing your own house works in the wizarding world, The sorting hat takes your choice into account. Harry was supposed to be in slytherin but he told the sorting hat that he wants to be in gryffindor. And it’s called hypogriff, mooncalves and trolls not a gryffin, oger and the mooncalves which you called a “jarvy that looks like a ferret”🤦♀️😭😭
The sorting hat probably was being influenced by the piece of Voldemort's soul it was in direct contact with. I doubt that Harry was supposed to be in Slytherin otherwise.
It seems like the classes are glorified tutorials so teaching you the game mechanics becomes part of the story which I think is really clever and pretty damn cool.
i dont like pvp often but itd be cool if in the future they add a pvp dueling type thing where you can battle other players and maybe do like 2v2 or something
I hope it will be a great game as it's the only exciting/impressive/AAA title on my wishlist. Questions: 1. Will I get stable 60 fps @ 1080p with GTX 1080 and i5-12600KF? 2. Will there be substantially more mounts than those two from pre-order deluxe edition? I mean at least 10 and not for instance 4-5 available for free within the game?

If they can pull all this off, i'd be very impressed. Would have loved to be able to play quidditch, maybe like in HP and the chamber of secrets as the seeker but races could be fun too.

Quidditch could ruin the experience, because it was a fun concept to watch but the game has so many flaws in it's scoring system that it makes the game fundementally bad. I mean don't get me wrong, the quidditch world cup was a fun game to muck about with for a couple hours, same as in the original harry potter games, but it would have aged terribly to be entertaining enough to dedicate resource to develop it. Maybe I'm being too synical, but I would't be mad if it wasn't included

one thing out of many is that I hope they make a clear mapping system where it tells you where to go if you're on a mission. I've had experiences with games like Jedi fallen order which is really good but the mapping system just made it complicated and frustrating. but if they have it a bit like spiderman I would be really happy
I feel like I’m gonna tear up while playing this. HP was the whole childhood and the kid part of me always wanted HP to be real and I always wanted to go to Hogwarts. To be able to do that, even if it’s just in a game, is going to bring so much joy
My mom (never plays games) genuinely wants this game so bad, so I'm gonna get that as soon as I can so that she can experience it, and after watching this video with her it just made her so much more exited, so thank you Falcon for the great vid

The sorting hat should have set a tutorial mission in your mind. Depending on how you deal with the challenges it should sort you into a house like the pottermore quizzes
1:58 you said choosing your own house is not how it works in the actual wizarding world - but it is. The sorting hat wanted to put Harry in Slytherin, but ultimately placed him in Gryffindor because that was his choice. He got what he asked for.

@@maxvosper9420 you’re absolutely correct. Harry persuaded the hat rather than making an outright choice. We know you’re right too because Neville begged to be in Hufflepuff and the hat placed him in Gryffindor anyway
What I wanna know is how will your house affect your playthrough?
Maybe it'll affect stat growth, like Slytherin characters grow stealth and 'trickery' abilities more easily while Gryffindor would get more health/damage.
Also to elaborate on the house, you do get to choose it but can also link your wizarding world (formerly known as pottermore) account and be properly sorted into a house with a personality quiz, I also believe it will make a replica of what your wand would look like (another quiz) to really drive in the immersion.

The fact you get to pick your house is exactly how it works. The hat sorts you into the house you want to go to or decides for you if you're unaure

FAQ has confirmed that there will be “no quidditch”. Though you will be able to fly around on a broom, take broom lessons, and there are flying challenges.

You are able to take a house quiz on the affiliated website that either allows you to find out what you'd be in, or forgo the option and select on your own. The website gives you wand and patronus picks, but not sure if those transfers to the main game.
I don't know if I've been this excited for a game in such a long time! Really hoping this one delivers, just being able to create your wizard and explore Hogwarts in a video game is so amazing, so it'll be tough for this one to fail for me. Hope its as amazing as it looks though.

the one thing I can't wait is to be able to use my personal patronus. I got a thestral as my patronus in the quiz so having the thestral mount while casting my thestral patronus would be so cool
I like how they introduce a lot of interesting concepts and gameplay mechanics to get us excited for the game, but they remained mostly vague as to what extent. It will be really interesting to see how they execute on these ideas
Two things I thought would be cool (I don’t know if they’ve mentioned yet or not)would be being able to customize like your wand and broom and also being able to get your own pet like owl or rat,I would choose a toad

I’m going to guess that’s a yes. Clothing/character customization should let you make a little Snape, but in terms of skills, you should be golden.
Learning the Dark Arts works and combat magic looks amazing, and there is that hopping cauldron in the room of requirement that has a timer over it, indicating you will brew your own potions.
You should be able to make your Snape.

1:58 actually I believe it was stated in the second book that a student can pick which house they want to be in if only they knew. Harry not wanting to be in Slytherin for example got him put into Gryffindor instead.
It was also stated in the last book as well. Harry tells his youngest son that the hat takes what you want into consideration.
Is that why Hermione isn’t a Ravenclaw? Because she is the raveniest ravenclaw to ever griffindor.

Harry appeared to influence the Sorting Hat when he said "Not Slytherin", so having a say in which house you're placed in is not unheard of in the Harry Potter universe. Just wanted to point that out.

@@aBadWizard this was because he had the bravery of a gryffindor and the reason the sorting hat took hints of slytherin was because of Voldemort being a party do him. But it is a game and suspension of disbelief has to be factored in for cannon stuff.

Dude literally had a bit of Voldemort in him, ofc the hat would suggest Slytherin. The only real difference between Gryffindor and Slytherin is that one always takes the high road when faced with adversity, and the other is ready to do whatever it takes.
Also might be worth mentioning that there will be an exclusive extra mission plus pre-order bonus on the Playstation. I do hope it will also be added to other platforms later.

The more I think about it, I question why an open world RPG Harry Potter game wasnt made already. I'm going to wait for reviews, I feel that after Cyberpunk (I know its coming back with Edge runners but still) has tainted our trust issues when it comes to game launches, but looking forward to this one!
I loved the Harry Potter books and movies as a kid but I kinda grew up out of it. But this game gets me really excited about it. I can remember playing the 1st and 2nd games on ps1 and it was so fun.
About the quidditch, I feel like it had to be a whole new game to create the physics of playing that. Kind of like a fifa game, but maybe harder to create the aspects of the game.
At 34, I've been waiting for this my entire life. I cannot wait to put on the Sorting Hat!

I hope they make classes time sensitive, where you can skip/miss classes, just so we can find the Time-Turner to go back. I think that would add a cool style and perspective for the game!
A Time-Turner mechanic would be so interesting where you can see "you" walk around, and you have to stay out of sight and confuse your classmates.

This as a multiplayer game makes sense in my mind, mostly because Harry Potter was with Herminie and Ron a lot, and even other characters.

Actually choosing your own house works in the wizarding world, The sorting hat takes your choice into account. Harry was supposed to be in slytherin but he told the sorting hat that he wants to be in gryffindor.

The sorting hat probably was being influenced by the piece of Voldemort's soul it was in direct contact with. I doubt that Harry was supposed to be in Slytherin otherwise.

It seems like the classes are glorified tutorials so teaching you the game mechanics becomes part of the story which I think is really clever and pretty damn cool.
