I can't help but admire your dad. if you add up how he is here and in your coming out video, he's definitely in the minority of adults that undestand and sympathize with our generation. we're almost always disregarded and looked down on as nothing more than techno-addicted brats who know nothing more than the usage of our phones and PCs. growing up,no one took me seriously,no matter how big or small my problems were. and I saw my peers get treated same way. everyone is just like,"oh its just normal teenage drama you'll get over it" or "deal with it ,kiddo too damn bad for you."that's the thing some problems may come and go but others have a psychological affect that'll be in your head in the long run.now I'm not generalizing any group of people here.just like we shouldn't be generalized by anyone. and its even harder that the mainstream opinion is that "our generation is fucked"well,if we keep acting upon the false perceptions of us then we might be on the brink of that,but we shouldn't let those perceptions get the better of us. and even if there's some truth to it we can still change.a lot of our generation is quite misunderstood. props to your dad for being so symapathetic. and cool.

For loving your kids. you seems to really care for their well-being, which is what a parent is suppose to do. my dad was abbanned as a child, and he felt the hurt as a child, and knew he didnt what his kids to go through what he did. he worked hard to give us what he thought was right. as a child i thought he was tuff and mean, but truthfully he really didnt know what is was suppose to do as a Dad, because he never had one to follow. As an adult i totally understand. My Dad tried hard, and i will allways love him for it. he has past away now. To your kids, please love your Dad, he wants it, and deserves it. As i do. I tell ya what, Rhodes Bros (and dad) - you guys are awesome. Besides that - you're both so handsome! And dad, too! I have a cousin who is gay, and he always knew he was, too. When we were little, I didn't have a term or any understanding for it, but now that we're older, we've talked about it, and he pointed out the way he always preferred to hang out with me, my sister, and our mothers (he had 3 brothers who are totally straight). He's living in New York now and very happy, and I'm so happy for him!
I think it's true what someone said about the older generation being more accepting (I'm in my 60s, so I'm talking older than I am) and once when Mother and I and her sister (his mom) my aunt always said she knew he was "different" and Mother did too. And Mother said - I just believe there are some boys who prefer boys over girls, and some girls who prefer girls over boys, and that's okay! Pretty cool of her, huh?
Anyway, I'm glad your Dad was so cool about you coming out to him. I know that had to be hard - even though you know in your hearts it's just the way you are - it's still scary facing it with someone whom you love and respect as you obviously do you Dad. And I loved your appearance on Ellen! She's awesome! I'd love to know how you're doing now. It was so cute when she gave you the check and you both reacted by putting your hand over your face!
