When we were little, I didn't have a term or any understanding for it, but now that we're older, we've talked about it, and he pointed out the way he always preferred to hang out with me, my sister, and our mothers (he had 3 brothers who are totally straight). He's living in New York now and very happy, and I'm so happy for him! I think it's true what someone said about the older generation being more accepting (I'm in my 60s, so I'm talking older than I am) and once when Mother and I and her sister (his mom) my aunt always said she knew he was "different" and Mother did too. And Mother said - I just believe there are some boys who prefer boys over girls, and some girls who prefer girls over boys, and that's okay! Pretty cool of her, huh? Anyway, I'm glad your Dad was so cool about you coming out to him. I know that had to be hard - even though you know in your hearts it's just the way you are - it's still scary facing it with someone whom you love and respect as you obviously do you Dad.
