This was like the era of post-grunge commercial rock music with every other band tried to sound grunge to sell records...not only were people ready for it they were already bored with it
Is that serious ? The audience is better right here on the YT comment section than live during that show ...very courageous to play so good in front of that nearly dead crowd
This crowd is so chilled out. Its weird. If I had had the chance to see them I would have tried to move to the front row and went nuts! How can you just stand around listening to this?
Veruca Salt were not that famous in Germany and for most people Grunge was over without Kurt Cobain. The line up was fantastic: Pennywise, Blink182, Sick of it all, Faith no more, Bush, Helmet, Rollins Band, Marylin Manson, Silverchair, Dog eat dog, Incubus, Foo fighters, CIV and Rammstein and more! And it was early on a Friday, so the crowd was not drunk enough 😅 but you are right! Idiots! I would have gone wild there! Sad I missed it. Thanks for the video 👍
I used to live in Chicago so I saw VS pretty often. They've been one of my favorite bands since I've been a teen and have been fortunate to meet Nina and Louise a few times. In fact I'm getting VIP to see Louise solo in April.
Fan freaking tastic. Love these girls what a duo. The feminine shrieks and screams is what female grunge was all about and they did it better than anyone.
Great band! I was so fortunate to be born at the right time (late 60's) to be able to witness so many great bands....Thanks for sharing this awesome concert!!!
Thanks for posting this, had never seen it before. Louise Post (especially) and Nina Gordon were probably my biggest 90s crushes, absolutely adore them both to this day 😘
I saw them at the Masquerade in Atlanta with some friends on my birthday in like 97? God they were so good we all became instant fans. Eight Arms is so underrated.
In the first minute or so of “Straight” Louise switches mics and finds the volume is too low. While she looks at the board person, her guitar plug has some kind of malfunction that a tech ran over to handle. Louise don’t give no shits and plows forward.
One of two bands from the 1990's🎸 (unfortunely the decade that I was raised in), that I'm now starting to appreciate (other is The Offspring). Having two girls play the guitar made a man of that time declare 'Holy shit, they play that instrument like guys!'☺.
Someone has to show them how to switch from an E chord shape to an A chord shape barre chord. That's an awful lot of sliding up and down the guitar neck
i WOOOOOOOO’d out loud at work so instinctively and hard at her talking her shit to the crowd into saying that they were playing Spider-Man and everyone was like what the fuck😂😂😂😂😂i am literally more excited than that crowd AT WORK
This crowd is an embarrassment to outdoor rock concerts ; What kinda music did they expect?.... Classical?! As mellow as Doris Day, really! In other news, Veruca Salt Rocks!!!
Damn, each songs got so many changes in it! Bands like Nirvana couldn't come close to this song writing brilliance. ...Dave has tried but, no cigar 😚and people trying to dog them for being sloppy!!!? Get the fuck outta here! And keeping it hundee As a multi-decade Rock&Roller, whod'a thought the heaviest rocking bands of the last 35years would be VerucaSalt and theDonnas? Well me. Cuz I saw them and I know
LOL! Yeah, then the mic was off, her guitar strap broke or came off... Lots of rough edges throughout the whole concert, but you gotta give an A+ for effort. :D
Oh man, you're right! I didn't even recognize him! The full Letters show from The Paradise elsewhere on TH-cam is one of my favorite live recordings ever. Jones is a machine. Caught LTC in NYC a few years ago at the Bowery and American HiFi opened, then he sat in on the LTC set. It was a real treat. Tom Polce is touring with them these days. He's great too, but he tends to play the LTC songs a bit slower than Jones does.
all these years I thought their name was , veruc assault,..was like wow what a cool name for a band , till my girlfriend said, no you idiot, it's veruca salt! I'm like , ok ,..um what the hell is a veruca salt? 🤔 think she said it's a wart on your foot or something
LOL. It's a bit of a disaster, yeah... I saw them live back in the day and they actually sounded great. One of the loudest shows I've ever been to as well. They're much better live now, as are most of the indie bands from this era.
They're playing their asses off and that's awesome to see, but for a Bogner ecstasy and a dual rec on one side and then another dual rec going through a pair of orange cabs on the other, their guitars sounded like absolute garbage.
Yeah, I don't know if it's just the mix or their overall sound, but it definitely is lacking. Very thin sounding guitars. Louise's SG should have sounded a hell of a lot fatter than that, so I'm going to say it's the fault of the mix.
Shame they had to become political. Know why the primo groups of classic rock matter so much? Because they keep they're political views and comments out of their concerts. People pay to see them sing their songs not listen to their politics.
Depends on the band. The Beatles? Stones? Pink Floyd? Political, or at the very least taking it to the ruling class. I actually think VS was one of the less political larger acts that came out of the '90s. Rage, System of a Down, PE, Radiohead... they were all pretty big at that time, and were much more political.
Remember the crowd during Marty’s guitar solo in Back to the Future? That’s what this crowd’s like. They just weren’t ready for Veruca Salt
They weren't ready for it, but their kids would surely love Veruca Salt.
This was like the era of post-grunge commercial rock music with every other band tried to sound grunge to sell records...not only were people ready for it they were already bored with it

Here's how to play a barre chord. Here's another...Ok, let's start a 90s band!
Is that serious ? The audience is better right here on the YT comment section than live during that show ...very courageous to play so good in front of that nearly dead crowd
It really sucks playing for a crowd like this. At some point, you just play for your own enjoyment, regardless of the crowd.
@@amkboxer
I think they were there for the Foo Fighters....lol
Damn if the crowd wasn’t rocking their asses off during awesome something is wrong.
Seriously!
"What's up?! DO something!"

Yeah the crowd is kind of lame
How the fuck am I only just now seeing this. Incredible.
This crowd is so chilled out. Its weird. If I had had the chance to see them I would have tried to move to the front row and went nuts! How can you just stand around listening to this?
It's Germany...they don't react, and these are two Jews from America, so that could be it.
@coreycooper2261 prob just bc it's like slightly improved elevator music
@@coreycooper2261nah mouse we have many jews in germany. you’re stereotyping. germans feel it but don’t show. it’s shit for shows i agree tho
Louise Post was an absolute belter of a rock chick, the best !
Awesome band. Two of the most beautiful women of the decade. Face melting guitar tone.
I'm a bit too old to pull it off now but I used to headbang at their concerts.
I've seen a few hundred shows in my day, and their show was the loudest I have ever seen.
I used to live in Chicago so I saw VS pretty often. They've been one of my favorite bands since I've been a teen and have been fortunate to meet Nina and Louise a few times. In fact I'm getting VIP to see Louise solo in April.
What a great band……..VS is one of very few bands that once I heard only a few of their songs……I bought the entire catalog
Veruca salt kick ass
Fan freaking tastic. Love these girls what a duo. The feminine shrieks and screams is what female grunge was all about and they did it better than anyone.
they had a solid male rhythm section that made them shine
Great band! I was so fortunate to be born at the right time (late 60's) to be able to witness so many great bands....Thanks for sharing this awesome concert!!!
I saw them in 98 in Chicago and the entire crowd was unreal. Jumping and moshing around like crazy. It was a wild show:))
Thanks for posting this, had never seen it before. Louise Post (especially) and Nina Gordon were probably my biggest 90s crushes, absolutely adore them both to this day 😘
23:48, I love her cute nervous laugh when she got onto the wrong chord here. Lol, I know the feeling.
I saw them at the Masquerade in Atlanta with some friends on my birthday in like 97? God they were so good we all became instant fans. Eight Arms is so underrated.
What a strangely docile crowd.

Bom pra caralho. Plateia esquisita, mas eles não merecem um show tão foda como esse.

Veruca Salt and The Breeders. They pissed all over Courtney Love and all her songs written by her various boyfriends.
