It's so weird how this movie starts out as just another macho action flick with Arnold, but quickly turns into one of the great sci fi horror films of the decade.
It's like Aliens - the script sets up the jungle warfare team as unstoppable badasses, then subverts this by having the Predator kill most of them easily, because their guns and muscles aren't much use against an invisible menace that can see in the dark.

I think that is part of what makes this a all-time classic. You instantly like every guy on Dutch's team...and then watch them get systematically get picked off.
I hated that Predator by the end of the movie!
You felt like part of the team...they never lost their courage facing an almost invincible enemy.

In the Batman predator run Batman actually beats the predator and they take his body away and claim earth is no longer a hunting ground as he earned their respect as a warrior. Technically how this movie is. Except they had to make another 5 or so movies.

This was peak Arnold for appearance and acting. 40 years old, mature hairline, piercing eyes with crows feet, and a slightly more slender and more appealing - yet still formidable - muscle mass. It's also this era when he owned his characters. Really comfortable on screen, and very believable. Love this guy.

Carl Weathers was the best actor in this film and it can be noticed that most the character development scenes are through interactions with Dillon.
