Scag deck adjustment, bearing change and maintenance

- In this video I show how I diagnosed and solved my cutting issues with this mower. I also show how I changed the blades and completed other maintenance on this machine.
After taking a closer look, I realized that I do in fact have the Oregon G6 blades installed on this mower, not the G5 blades I mentioned in the video.

Nice video thank you great that your machine has chart on it. On my older 48 it's suggested to have 3 spacers on top of blades previous owner had blades tight to spindle and 3 spacers under blades. My blade height to ground was around 3.5 so I wanted to put the 3 spacers above blades but then would be too low so I made same adjustment with deck to body bolts In lower hole and put 3 spacers above blade and also went 2 below /2 above on casters. looking pretty good now 3.5 blade height and neutral pitch may still drop down 1 on caster for positive pitch. Any one changing deck bolts I loosned all 6 bolts removed 3 pulled up under deck with pry bar reinserted 3 bolts then did other side.
Thanks for the video reference. The Pulley I was referring to is the larger pulley located behind the smaller one you took off to replace the bearings.

@@robertlombardi2228 The one that mounts to the transmission or engine? You shouldn't need to remove any pulleys in order to change the belt, just loosen or remove the idler pulley (the one I changed the bearings in), remove the air clutch bracket, and blade drive belt, then slip the transmission drive belt off

I’d definitely recommend some hi lift blades for max suction.
Part number? Or brand never heard of them
I have mulched blades on an blocked the throw out will that affect the suction or cut if I put on different blades
Thanks for the tip about the bearing. I’ve never thought of that. So the deck should be pitched down in the front right? I’ve got a 48 but it’s the same basic concept I believe.

I'm assuming your talking about the deck mounting holes, in with case you need to remove both rear wheels. In order to do that you need to remove the belts tensioner pulley (the one that moves up and down when you pull the clutch), then remove the belt, remove the wheel clip and slide the wheel off. @@everythingmechanical_yt when you did this did you remove one side set it then do the other of do you have to drop both sides at the same time? Also if you’re doing this by yourself how do you keep
The two parts from going in two completely different directions? I’m new to owning a commercial mower so I know very little.

Unfortunately I sold this machine not too long ago but I have tons of pictures of grass I cut with it. These decks are pretty good, the only issue is the 52" tends to clump up a lot when it's wer
@@everythingmechanical_yt yeah thats fixed with the newer velocity plus decks- i reccomend getting a newer 48" belt drive with the velocity deck, or the hydro if you wanna splurge :D
i love the scag WBs too bad most modern business owners hate them.
