It should really be, so there I was in Boston, and this track athlete from San Francisco arrived and was so good, we didn't have to play defense and he made the whole team great. All we had to do was say, "Hey, Bill" and he would do whatever we needed. So good he was allowed to coach the team in one of the most racist cities in America.

John Havlicek was pretty much the equivalence of Kobe Bryant in early 60s until at least early-to-mid 70s. Played 20 years in the nba like a living fossil and made all star 13 times, all nba 11 times, the list goes on...
Havlicek was drafted in 1962 and retired after 1978.
Not 20 years - but a very impressively long career.
IMO he was overall a better player for his era than Kobe was - but his prime was long enough ago in the "unknown ages of the NBA" that too many people forget about Hondo.
