Shocked by how many people are clueless about the Triple Jump event. It's been in track and field forever. It's called "triple" jump because of three motions: Hop > Step > Jump

In this case he may be jumping from the Men's Open board which he means he just barely makes it into the pit while much stronger athletes get much deeper. The board has to be far enough from the pit because some athletes will enter the sand on their step phase before even jumping.

The distance isn’t impressive but his technique is pretty good which is actually hard to get down. It’s one of those sports when done by a professional looks really easy but once you try it it’s really difficult
