Shocked by how many people are clueless about the Triple Jump event. It's been in track and field forever. It's called "triple" jump because of three motions: Hop > Step > Jump
@@matthewdejoy-wm6mrHe jumped exactly where he should have. He's just not very strong. Different ages have a different starting point. In this case he may be jumping from the Men's Open board which he means he just barely makes it into the pit while much stronger athletes get much deeper. The board has to be far enough from the pit because some athletes will enter the sand on their step phase before even jumping.

During a meet, some people like to start from one that's farther away than what they're comfortable with so that they reeeeally have to reach to make it to the pit...or risk injury 😅 Like trying to manually activate your adrenaline lol

My dad actually won the triple jump national record in Australia when he was my age, held the record for a couple years! My Nonna was and still is so proud of him for it, so is my Dad
The distance isn’t impressive but his technique is pretty good which is actually hard to get down. It’s one of those sports when done by a professional looks really easy but once you try it it’s really difficult
This here kids is a fabulous examole of what not to do on a triple jump event. However it happens to the best of us and I'm sure his coach had him run it a few more times to get better. (I've done the exact same thing)
