- In today's episode, a few Americans will attempt to pronounce and guess the usage of popular Scottish words or phrases!! How many pronunciations and definitions will we get correct? More importantly, how many will we absolutely butcher? Haha!
Special thanks and shoutout to our good friend from Scotland Lauren L (or "Double L") for sending the words / phrases and making today's episode possible!!

You nailed it...YEAH FREAKIN YEAH 😎😎😎😎 Thanks for making this one possible!!
As a Scot I was laughing out loud! Especially attempting in Sean Connery voice! 😂😂😂
Hahahahaa we had a lot of fun with this one 🤣😂🤣😂
@@BLANKSnooneaskedfor actually you did really well ! I believe there is a fairly large Appalachian community who originally came from Scotland , maybe they should do this particular challenge
No comments in today's video were made with the intent to offend; nothing but love and a few laughs from the BLANKS Crew ❤️❤️❤️❤️ We're just having a few laughs for your entertainment ❤️🇬🇧❤️🏴
Check out the fun challenge I have left u in the reply to my original post in the highlighted comment above
It's a Union Flag guys. It's only a Jack when used by the royal navy or royaor merchant ships at flown.out on the sea's
What is cloot. That word is CLOOT guys.
As a scot i have to say Taylor nailed the 'EEjit' and the definition! brilliant show guys thanks for doing a scottish theme makes me love y'all even more lol!
Yayyyyy thanks so much for the feedback!! We appreciate you 😁😁😁😁
"Boogin" was spelled wrong, its meant to be "Boggin"... as a Scot, I thought I had leaned a new Scottish word because that one had me stumped 😂😂 Just discovered your channel and I'm hooked! I havent laughed this hard in ages ❤🏴
Thanks for the correction 😅😅😅😅 And that's awesome, we aim to entertain and hopefully share a few laughs along the way! 😁😁😁😁
Lol..... Sea rabbits with pincers, had me crackin up.
I think you boys could visit and escape not only alive but with gifts.
We're planning to make our first trip to the UK next year!! 😁😁😁😁
This has been my fave episode to date - helps that I’m Scottish and I’m sorry to admit but watching you guys struggling with our vernacular was painfully funny - you did a braw (great) job and some of your guesses were hilarious. A score of OMD for this one boys x
We're all grinning ear to ear reading this one...thank you! 😁😁😁😁
Been binging this channel tonight and hearing you guys attempt "Haud Yer Wheesht" has been the highlight so far 🤣 Double deckers being your favourite chocolate has been the low
This is the content we've been looking for. Also you dont need to give a disclaimer to scottish people we don't give a fuck.Keep the videos coming.
When Zack said "blootered" he actually said it in a near perfect Invernesian accent. That's someone from Inverness in the north of Scotland for the uninitiated.
Zack getting an accent anywhere close to right is hard to believe 🤣😂🤣😂
So...on a scale of "Bloody Disgusting" to "OH MY DAYS", how were our Scottish accents? 😂😂😂😂
Pish!.
Accents were terrible but I’d say that you deserve an Oh My Days for effort regarding attempting the pronunciations.
As someone else pointed out in the comments though, you were technically attempting another language, namely Scots. Which has similar origins to English but didn’t take on the vowel shift that English did (hence why some of the vowels are pronounced differently), also being a separate language it has unique words and also the influence of the other official language of Scotland, Gaelic (Scotland has four official languages, Scots, Gaelic, English and British Sign Language).
10/10 for effort guys 👍
Another word for disgusting, sick, etc. Is "bowfin" - this is used more locally where I live, rather than "boggin". For example, " that's pure bowfin by the way"
Brave of you to ask! You did overthink some of them though. Just say what you see.
As a Scot myself, I thought you might like to know that Scotland has 3 offical languages, these are: English, Scots (Doric, dialect spoken in the North-East of Scotland) and Gaelic. The only one i cannot speak is The Gaelic. I had a blast watching you attempt to pronunce our words, well done to all.
Oh wow, had absolutely no idea!! How cool 😁😁😁😁
@@BLANKSnooneaskedfor There are many dialects but mostly Scots has three distinct versions: Doric (as mentioned); Lallans (southern) and Broad (central belt and is more universal). Also Ulster Scots is spoken in Northern Ireland. Some words are common with dialects of Northern English such as Cumbric and Geordie.
As an Englishman, it was just as much fun playing along as you guys because for most of them I didn't have a clue.
I'll translate for the Scots
"Fir Maist of them I didnae hae a scooby"
Did you get more right than we did? To be sure you did 🤣😂🤣😂
Ditto !! 😀
@@24magiccarrot Hahahahaha.... lmFao !!! 😂😂🤣
@@BLANKSnooneaskedfor Think thats an Irish comment lmao...... to be sure to be sure lol
Brilliant video. Havent laughed so much in ages. Heres to the next one 😂😂
That's what we aim to do! 😁😁😁😁
Thanks for the laughs guys. Very much appreciated this one :) oh how was the tea by the way? I've never had a Scottish blend. oh and also worth remembering that there is several dialects (even a couple of languages in Scotland) what you were listening to is Scots, they also speak Gaelic and obviously English with an accent.
We were having so much fun with the words and phrases, completely forgot to rate the tea!! 😅😅😅😅 It was quite nice...probably a lovely! 😁😁😁😁
I’ve a few Scottish friends and they literally type like they speak. Half the time I’ve no idea what they’re going on about. But when I see them I understand everything they say especially when I’ve had a few drinks 😂
Some of these comments are hard for us to decipher 🤣😂🤣😂
Great job on the vid guys I found it most hilariously entertaining 💖
That's all we could ask for 😁😁😁😁
I'm N.East England but got all of these. Maybe I've spent too long watching Still Game, Rab C. Nesbitt and Trainspotting throughout my life😂
Hahahaha we're just glad we got 2 🤣😂🤣😂
You missed out the word "Cludgie" (clud-jee) - not used so much now, but to my (older) generation it was. It means the toilet.
That would have been a fun one 😁😁😁😁
Oldie but goldie miss that...
"Off to the cludgie for a bombing run"
Lauren L? Lauren is my favorite name! Classy and timeless. - just me in Palm Springs 🌴
Hahahah what are the odds?! 😁😁😁😁
@@BLANKSnooneaskedfor It's 100% true! One might guess that "Norma" isn't a Gen-X name 😉. But I am a fan of classic cinema, and Lauren Bacall's name was "timeless and classy." I'm a Non- breeder, ahem, but if I'd had kids they would have been Lauren Glenn McDaniel and Grayson (Gray) McDaniel. 🤣 Useless Info Nobody Asked For! 🤣-🌴
PS The screen name IS an homage to someone, but not to Norma Jean Baker aka Marilyn Monroe. Mysterious, huh? 😘😀
As a Scot I enjoyed that very much .I thought yous were just a bunch o Neds talking Mince but yer Blethers were great .
We're just a couple of friends having a great time and sharing some laughs 😁😁😁😁
I missed the live but here for this: 😂 - just me in Palm Springs 🌴
Would like to explain that Northern Ireland has all of these sayings as well. My granny always used to say hould (hold) your whist meaning be quiet. There were many many others. Way too many to mention but one of my absolute favourites was 'you're no goats toe' Pick the bones out of that
Too cool, who knew 😁😁😁😁
As a Scot from Glasgow no offence taken, we compliment people with insults everyday here in Glasgow 👍🏼
Chuffing excellent stuff - my sides are hurting 😂😂😂 tea? Really?!!
Hahahahah glad we could loan some laughter your way 😁😁😁😁
That was fawkin hilarious watching u guys butcher my accent, no offence taken whatsoever.😂
Btw I dunno where u got "boogan" from as it's actually boggin and I'm from Glasgow, Scotland's largest city and we don't use "a dinnae ken" ever, it's more of an easy coast phrase. Anything u see like nae, dae or tae is pronounced like hay, nae is no, dae is do and tae is to.
Thoroughly enjoyable video, funny as fawk.😂👍
Good job guys 😂
Thank you Sandra! 😁😁😁😁
It you've got a friend called Ken it's quite possible to say to another friend -
ye ken Ken, ken? = you know Ken, 'yes'?
Watch The Lighthouse Keepers - Chewin the Fat for peak Gonnae no dae that.
Hahahhahaha 🤣😂🤣😂
Ged dear man, fower richt muckle gowks!! 🤣🤣🤣
Don't ask us what this means! 🤣😂🤣😂
@@BLANKSnooneaskedfor
God dear, what a collection of foolish fellows!!
(This is the polite version!) 🤣🤣🤣
When a crab and a rabbit love each other very much…
Hahahaha who needs the birds and the bees when you have the crabs and the rabbits? 🤣😂🤣😂
As a Scotsman im so offended that if you ever visit im gonna lock you in a toilet like the one in trainspotting😂😂😂😂. Jokes aside great video, one thing i love about being Scottish is sering people try and get their heads round our words and phrases😂😂😂
Hahahaha we tried and failed miserably 🤣😂🤣😂 But had fun along the way 😆😆😆😆
You get points for effort, and for making me laugh…..Ah dinnae ken whit ye were aw aboot, but just gonna no dae it anymare ye eejits 😉🏴
We laughed so much during this one 🤣😂🤣😂
A wee Scots lassie here! That was hilarious 😂. Please do a reaction to the movie Trainspotting set in Edinburgh. I think you would appreciate it.
Might just have to do that! 😁😁😁😁
Gaun yersel lads that wiz great.
Mark (known as donk in this household, crocodile Dundee 2) hasn’t said a word.😂
I'm English, and only knew one of these!
Controversial here but eejit is an Irish word and you can be a buck eejit used more in Northern Ireland
Amurny! (I am not going to)
Wiznae (wasnt)
Willnae (wont)
I really hope Sean connery saw this 😂
We hope he didn't 🤣😂🤣😂
He died last year. Shout out to Sean absolute legend.
Boggin, any other Scots confused by boogin? 🤣
8:32 Boogin isn't a word, I presume it should be "Boggin" which means horrible, like "That tastes boggin" means "That taste horrible"
I enjoyed how you seem to think the inhabitants of Scotland are permanently streetfighting....which, in some parts, isn't far off the mark.
We don't say dinnae ken in Glasgow or the West of Scotland thats a chookter word used in the east of Scotland and the North of Scotland
Yes NE Scotland is a whole other language lol.
Here in Fife we say dinnae, widnae, kidnae and cannae 🤣
Edited for non Scots = do not, would not, could not and cannot.
@@markwilkie3677 in Ayrshire it's " Ah've nae idea "
I’ve a lot of family in Ayr, as that’s where my Dad was from and they use ken but for where I grew up in Inverclyde, it isn’t a word that’s used…other than as an abbreviated form of Kenneth.
Basically most places in Scotland say Dinnae Ken and Glasgow and a very comparatively small portion of West Scotland don't say it. It's the people that don't say it that are the outliers but Glaswegians and places on the outskirts of Glasgow think Scotland revolves around them.
Next video.
Trying to pronounce English words 😁
That should be fun 🤣😂🤣😂
Well consider the fact that the Southern US accent descends from Scottish and you now know where your words come from
wish lads had yer gobs is a Northumbria/Newcastle saying. Scottish father, Northumbria mother. I can understand most. I live in Cumbria, they have some strange words too.
It's boggin not boogin
Aye jist.
Yeahhh we mistyped 🤣😂🤣😂
@@BLANKSnooneaskedfor thought it may have made it easier to get if spelt correctly ????
Taylor sounds like he's speaking Klingon ken
🤣😂🤣😂
Us English folk do not understand our Scottish counterparts 😂
Hahahahahha 🤣😂🤣😂
Scots and Irish founded the carolinas so you should be good at this
She should have narrated the outtro in ur guys accent lol !!!
2:04 😂😂😂
He guy wae the glasses is Kenny Everetts double
you got the wrong name, its not zack, its Nest-L Boy
That's right, correction!! 🤣😂🤣😂
Geein = giving
Haud = hold
Yer = your
Ah = I
Dinnae = don't
Ken = know
Gonnae = don't (go and not)
Dae = do
She should have asked them what "I dinnae hae a Scooby" means
This was funny as f**k 😂
Aw, so many tears 😂😂😂😂😂😭😭😭😭
We know how you feel 🤣😂🤣😂
Boggin shouldn't have two O'S it should have two G's but this was a really fun video
Yeah we typed it all wrong 😅😅😅😅
Boa as in boat
Boak!
I thought boak = bucket.
Good effort for a first go tho. I couldn't do that much better and im from the uk
Hilarious!
No, you are! 😜😜😜😜
Day1 of petitioning the crew to learn modern competitive Pokémon and face off!
Nothing is impossible!! 🤣😂🤣😂
haud yer wheest is my local dialect which is doric, spoken in the north east of scotland, i.e aberdeen and aberdeenshire. if we were saying haud yer wheest as a rule we would add glekit gype to reinforce the stupidity of the person.
Blootered to me is an English phrase. In the west of Scotland we would say Pished,or Steamin for the same meaning. Aww mate yer pure pished.
A dummy is a pacifier in the UK.
Crabbit your grumpy
FYI it's the union flag and is only called a jack when flying on a ship... Not many Brits know that either.
No offense taken , we take the piss out of ourselves all time .but you all need to work on the accent lol
That's awesome, we love when people can laugh with (or at) us 😁😁😁😁
You sounded more Indian than Scottish 😂😂😂
Yous keep going into a Russian accent 😭
If y’all wanted to pretend you were Scottish for 5 mins you would have burnt everything baring this 🇬🇧.
