  • This video is about our second day trip in Copenhagen.During our second day in Copenhagen, we began by visiting the small mermaid statue near the port. The 1.25-meter-tall bronze statue is a symbol of the city and is based on the character from the story "The Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Andersen. We then walked by the nearby Maritime Monument, a bronze statue in memory of sailors lost in the First World War.
Next, we explored the fort built by King Christian IV, which played a crucial role in the war with the British in 1626. The fort's pentagon shape and deep trenches reminded me of a similar Portuguese fort I saw in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. Just outside the fort, we found a pond with beautiful yellow lilies near the stunning St. Albans Church, which resembles a giant sharpened pencil. Surrounding this area were green trees, wide meadows, and streams, creating a peaceful atmosphere.
Continuing our walk down Bredgade, I noticed a row of colorful houses that reminded me of those in Austria. At the end of the street, we found the "Alexander Nevsky" Russian Orthodox Church, recognizable by its three onion-shaped brass domes.
Close by was the Amalienborg Palace, with its four identical buildings at the four corners and a museum inside. We didn't go inside the palace but stayed in the square to watch the changing of the guards at 12.00. While many tourists enjoyed the event, I found it to be a test of patience due to the long wait.
