- Happy college app season, everyone (but not really)! (Timestamps listed below) For those of you who are working on your common app, I hope that this "how-to" video helps all of you. In this video, I reveal the exact essay I submitted for 2021's application season and talk about all my tips and tricks. I was accepted to Columbia, Caltech, USC, Rice, and many more schools. Good luck to all of you going through the college app process and I hope you get into your top choices!

I really liked your essay. This is probably like one of the essays that I've heard so far that doesn't use big vocabulary. It's more clear and easy to read. I feel like some people nerd out over it.

i feel like this essay really showcased her skills a lot and she highlighted that in her story multiple times, she constantly was searching for new ways to acheive her goal of becoming taller. She highlighted her skills in a way where it wasn't rubbing it in the readers face she was telling it in a story, it felt so natural. I LOVED IT i feel so inspired and its helping me realize I have to do that a bit more in mine. thanks hun

this was actually so cute. especially the flop. flop. gotta love a good onomatopoeia. ngl at the end i thought you were going to say you just made up a cute story about the struggles of being short. i didn't think that getting a top locker could be something that was actually this important to a kid lmao but i like that it was really a true story for you
I’m really glad you liked my essay! I wish I could say it was made up but I truly did go through the embarrassment of wearing duct taped heels at school😂

Wow! Thank you so much for sharing your lovely essay. I'm struggling to write mine because I feel pressured to have some intricate metaphor that ties into the different facets of my life. However, your essay has definitely opened my eyes to the fact that this is a _personal_ essay; I just have to express who I am through writing and help readers gain insight into who I am.
That’s a great point! I think a lot of students tend to overthink the essays a lot (for good reason) but at the end of the day, admissions just want to get to know you! Happy to hear my video helped you out :)

What's the relationship between fixing the shoe and the major u applied?
You don’t necessarily need a relationship between your common app essay and the major you apply for. I applied as a cs major but in the common app I wanted to showcase more of my problem solving mind and the trait of not being deterred from failure. Hope that makes sense!
