It's funny seeing all of the cards we have in format now start their life as something completely different back then. Desert Shaman is Judge. Reversal is Pokemon Catcher. Yet, this format wasn't over in two turns if you didn't draw well. Long for those days

For me, I wish I was still playing in this format, I stopped playing with Expedition, which means I missed alot of the sets that are considered amazing today. While I still played Ruby and Sapphire, the cards were getting power crept in this format and as someone who played from Jungle onwards the OG sets were obviously how I saw the game, there were also the balance changes, supporters and the like, I was a just entering my teenage years at this point and I didnt understand the idea of Rotation and different formats ex pokemon at the time seemed dumb to me because of how powerful they were and the 2 prize card thing seemed weird. Obviously another thing that pulled me out of Pokemon TCG was the rise of Yu-gi-oh. Granted it still took me years to play that game correctly because the anime the games and the tcg had like 8 different rulesets.

Is great have 100 hp and not 330 hp oriented format. We can fast judge what is a strong and weak attack, 330 is just a random number.

as a previously old school player before coming back into the fold, I KNEW I REMEMBERED THE EX POKEMON WEREN'T BASIC! I bet that's where the powercreep began honestly.

I’m really unfamiliar with the TCG. It’s cool seeing Pokémon like Dunsparce and Delcatty, which are really weak in the video games, play great support rules in the TCG.

would love it if we can have retro tournaments or a retro only section for the tcg onlne game. I personally think the old format are more fun.

Great match. Awesome videos. Keep playing with old decks please !!! But why Gardevoir did 50* damage to Swampert instead of 60* ? 13:15 I count 6 energy cards on the play.

EDIT: After looking into it, it seems the errata took place immediately after worlds 2004. So how it is played in the vid is how it worked in that format.
Might want to check that you’re using the errata’d Steven’s Advice - it can’t be played if you have 7 or more in hand INCLUDING Steven’s advice. So after playing it you should have a max of 5 in hand before drawing

  • @TELEVISIONNATIONDP

Why basic lightning & grass over Multi Energy? I get Boost would shut it off for Gardy but for Pert it seems like it'd have more utility, the 2004 Pert World's list uses Multi. Ah I see Town Volunteers can't get Multi back, it's a tradeoff
