I get Dodge getting into the crossover game. I don’t get Dodge pushing it as a muscle car. The past 2 days have been a big let down. Carbon fiber panels, Chally body, drag pack roller- those are good to the 1% of people in the Mopar world. The other99% of us are down right dissapointed.

As a mustang owner and muscle car enthusiast I’m really sad to see the muscle line go away for dodge. The challenger is a beautiful car and the new design of the charger is really dope. It feels like we’re back in the 80s again when everybody was getting rid of all their muscle car lineups for economy cars. It’s also not about how fast these cars go I think they’re missing the point of muscle cars and the character that they bring to going fast

@@JBennett530 well Ford still has their V8 line up from what I know. But it looks like they will opt for an electric option while the new GTs will still be offered in a V8 but greatly reduced HP. I think Chevy is scrapping the Camaro altogether but I may be wrong. Hell I hope I’m wrong. I was watching a report on my local news that said dodge was discontinuing the actual charger and challenger period. I hope racerx is right in that they continue the line but who wants a damn charger that sounds like a damn Subaru? Or has no sound at all? Just sayin

But I do remember in the late 70s you still had like the Chevy nova Camaro Trans Am Corvette and all those other cars most memorable of most of those cars were 78 and 79. The 78 Trans Am was iconic so there were still muscle cars during that time the world didn’t go totally economy car until like 82

I'm a retired Dodge Chrysler Jeep dealer and I can tell you I would be thrilled to have this Hornet available to sell. After I watched your presentation from last night, I paid attention while driving here in SW FL this morning and these small CUV's are everywhere. They're like Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators down here...you see them all over the place. You have to have an entry level vehicle for those younger buyers so that as they age, they can move up the line and buy the bigger, higher margin vehicles in the future. These are very well contented units and will be very successful in my opinion.

@@gc1087 i agree with you...these hornets will essentially = the cost of a used r/t or scatpack, and actual teenage, early to late 20's, and just car guys and girls who're not too loaded financially will still settle for something much much sportier like a used scat, r/t, g37, genesis coupe, elantra N, and etc etc over this hornet which is essentially no different than a gmc Acadia with a prettier exterior...these hornets will just attract non-tuners who just want something that looks good on the outside, and has alot of interior accessories which is ok...but yeah, this isn't an actual tuner's car by a longshot...it won't even cut the edge over civics, WRX's, or the new elantra's either...only reason dodge is ahead of the game right now is due to their 392, 6.2 Cats, and of course, their 5.7's, and these turbo 4 bangers won't offer much of what mopar guys and girls are looking for since they've all been kind of spoiled with the big v8's...i'm a mopar guy myself, and owned an r/t but that does not mean i'm going to settle for a v6 challenger over what i currently have which is a genesis 5.0 rspec fully loaded...buying brand isn't everything...

Very much what I would hope it looked like, with the retro styling still well-intact. The Spirit R/T 2.2L Turbo variant was an incredible vehicle for it's time, and one of the fastest too. Anyway, Dodge is bringing to the masses something exciting for the segment it's trying to fit into. AWD, Awesome power to weight ratios, quick acceleration... RacerX, I am with you on this. We have seen dodge try to get into the crossover market before with models like the Nitro or Journey which did not quite take off... they just seemed to cheap out too much. But the Hornet looks like they now have a crossover that looks good and has performance out the gate. If that was available in my 20s I might have jumped on it. I think Dodge will continue to push the envelope and offer leading performance and style in this next era of the automobile.

Great coverage RacerX. The Hornet R/T looks like a sporty commuter car. Hopefully the $3X,000 price point is actually within range for the target audience. GLH seems like it will be good for the dealer who can mark up the add-ons but why pay extra for exhaust and ride height? A lot is riding on tonight’s reveal - I’ll never let go of my V8 Hemi and I’ll only buy another Dodge if it is a step up in performance and driving experience for the middle class buyer. EV’s meh 👎

First of all, congratulations for your video! I give you my opinion from ..... CANNES in the south of France and especially as a former Jeep-Chrysler-Dodge dealer. I read all the comments regretting the big V8 Hemi etc .... What to do with the current situation ??? Above all, we must not forget that if almost all of the automotive markets are switching to everything is electric, it is only due to the DIESELGATE of the VOLKSWAGEN Group!!! I think too many people have forgotten that! As for Dodge's situation, we owe it to Mercedes, which "killed" us during our cooperation. Mercedes looted CJD then kicked us out like shit! Today, through (thanks to) Stellantis, the brands are recovering and will take back market share; I'm sure of it because we have brands that still make people dream all over the world! Let's be proud of the Stellantis Group and its brands; our jobs are at stake. Coming back to the Hornet, I drove its cousin the Alfa Romeo Tonale last month and I can tell you that it's an excellent vehicle!!!! The Dodge will also be perfect but forget V6 and V8!.....

I can currently purchase a Alfa Romero Tonale at my local Alfa Dealership. The Hornet is a rebodied version of that vehicle. I just hope the Hornet is less expensive to service than the Alfa and it's $249 to $500 oil changes. Im guessing the boost feature is pulling power from the hybrid battery to help the Combustion engine giving a short burst of power. If this is the case. It would reduce the hybrid battery range. I like the looks, but currently in it's segment. There's over 20 vehicles the Hornet will be competing with. I'm also wondering the turnaround time when ordering a Hurricane since they will be manufactured in Italy. It appears Stellantis is hooked on performance no matter the types of vehicle. .

The market did change, and CUV and UV platforms are changing and merging past hybrid to EV. I'm old school, but have an interest in things to come. Many engineers see the pod like transforming chassis as we get closer to just transporting modules of efficiency. For what it's worth, that could be anything in the future even if it's flying. Probably way down the line, or maybe not. I have a Charger RT currently, and had other large cars, trucks and so forth and many prior to 1979 as well. I've had large SUV's(lot's of wasted space). And recently more CUV type and my large Charger. These are just the babies of what was a large SUV and yesteryears station wagon need with a touch of the great AMC Eagle. LOL. But the utility and care free zippiness is pretty much what the newer target populations are looking for. I can see Dodge under Aunt Stella's management style targeting those individuals and younger families. It's just plain everywhere. But tonight, they have the OTHERS in mind for that feel for the past. Can't wait to see the future, the third show.

I'd rather see Dodge bring back the Stealth to compete with the JDM market segment. Imagine Dodge debuting a car that could hang with or beat the new Z, Supra or GR 86. Out of all the younger people that I know, not a single one of them is wanting a fast grocery getter. A move like bringing back the Stealth would set the press on TH-cam car enthusiast community on fire. Especially if it set record hot laps on the famous Nürburgring Track. This move that Dodge has made has definitely got people taking, but not in a good way. It reminds me of what happened when Acura dropped the Integra bomb. A Stealth in Dodges lineup would finally put a finger in the face of everyone who says that owning a fast Dodge is great if ya wanna spend your life driving in a straight line. I love cars of all platforms. Out of all of the fast American cars I truly believe that the Challenger is the prettiest. I want Dodge to succeed, but I wanna see something different.

It's not an American Dodge anymore. Nor is it an Italian Alfa.
Stellantis / FCA still offers us a tasteless vision of the automobile.
Like a kind of Unilver or Mars incorporated. Offering products without history, without strong roots, sometimes under one badge, sometimes under another depending on the country...
The most frustrating thing is that the group could have done something undetectable, like PSA knew how to do for its products. Look, there is no possible relationship between a DS7 Crossback, a Peugeot 3008, or a Citroën C5 aircross. However, it costs a little money... And that FCA does not want to do.... The group wants big profits but low investments. They let their brands die for lack of investments.
PSA by joining Stellantis brings a healthy and updated technological base. I'm afraid that the Italian side will take over and only live on this asset without trying to develop it.... Sad for Dodge this story.

    • @Antoineforum
      @Antoineforum 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@fakebrake Again. Sadly FCA is a specialist. There is no love for the automobile here anymore, only love for profits. So they spend little and hope to get a lot. FCA now stellantis is a financial group that sells products like they would sell noodles...
This Dodge is barely reworked aesthetically. It's a Euro Alfa. FCA keeps making the same mistakes. It's disastrous for Alfa's premium image, it's disastrous for the Americans who are proud of the iconic Dodge brand.

I think the Hornet is a smart move for Dodge. It will get people who are looking for a daily driver with that edgy aesthetic that Dodge does so well, and could get people hooked onto the brand. It's aggravating to see all of these people raging about the Hornet, as if it's existence effects them at all. Don't like it? Don't buy it. But, when your friend or a family member is looking for a subcompact SUV you have a pretty sharp looking recommendation! And Dodge did do a great job of giving that Alfa Romeo a Dodge facelift - it has a very handsome front end. Great video!
