got one. not for the faint hearted, loads of features crammed into it. if you can learn it and grin and bear the learning curve 909 can sound badass and do loads of cool shit . like all the other roland groovebox its full of cheesy presets Thanks for taking time to make a video on this big old groovebox.

19:46 "Roland states that LPF 2 & 3 ignore the res setting, and that LPF3 cuts more gently than LPF2."
Good to know. Sometimes I wondered if my hearing or my machine was failing.

Great video! I guess it will be around 2-3 more videos till the sampling guide?

Will probably do rhythm sets next and then sampling, I'm very excited to cover sampling on the MC, because I think it's a strong point of the machine. Thank you for watching!

thanks for this super helpful video! wats the reason that you track in via mono? is your process record each track into DAW individually? Do you widen them into stereo somehow later? would love to get a better understanding of stereo vs. mono and multitrack recording vs. all-in-one recording when it comes to hardware. keep it up!

Thanks for watching! Just a preference, really, but I like to create my stereo image on my mixer, and it is easier for me to do that when everything is tracked mono. There are some occasions when I will do stereo, if it is a complex synth patch with stereo effect already applied, but I just as often will just double track the same sound twice for wider stereo field and this way also introduces different information into the left and right channels, which I do to make stuff sound thicker.

You stopped posting vids during corona virus times I hope you’re ok. These vids have been helpful. I have question about “saving” patches that have been altered. As you, know, the patches reset if you exit the library in any case and default to the factory settings. I forgot which video of yours tells how to save altered sounds. Is it a function in the microscopic mode?

Yo - great job on the 909 videos. 👍 I've got a question - where do you stand on the 909 vs the mc-707? Or groovebox software on iOS. Or a keyboard workstation like the Yamaha MOXF? I was looking for a desktop sound module with a built-in sequencer, but never considered the 909. It's cool that it has knobs and sliders for editing the XV programs and the sequencer is a lot more interactive than other solutions.

I have to use my MC-307 as a controller since most of the key pads crapped out on my 909

    • @16Steps

      Controller definitely recommend!
