Videos are amazing, makes me what to go to Italy so much. My family is from Sicily and Calabria. But I want to visit Tuscany more than anything. God Bless you both.
Catania is my favorite place in Italy. We were there last year and completely fell in love immediately. The family owned restaurants, the streets, the people, the culture- everything was just perfect. We've also hicked Etna and explored a cave, which was super fun. Definitely wanna visit Catania again!!!
Thank you for mentioning Caltagirone- I am always interested in fantastic places located near Catania. I just looked at some photos and it looks a wonderful place to visit! Grazie mille per il consiglio ❤
Will be taking an extended family trip in June to Sicily. Our grandparents came from Sicily in the early 1900s and so many of the cousins are gathering for this 10 day trip. We will be flying into Catania, and visiting Ragusa, Montallegro and Palermo… can’t wait!
I visited Catania about 5 years ago for 4 days. It was super. I took two cooking lessons and walked all over the city. The pistachio pesto was one of my favorite dishes that I had there. Thank you for bringing back such wonderful memories.
The last time I was in Sicily, I wanted to stay in Catania, BUT Mt. Etna had just erupted and the city was covered in smoke and ash. You could barely see (or breathe). We ended up staying in Messina instead. So I was especially happy to watch this video-thanks!
Don't come, i am now here, we came today from taormina.. no food was tasty here, we live next to the fish marked direktly, omg the smell is so hard, like fish bis burned pig skin... nothing special here, we are very sad and happy to go back home
It's not that bad, you can definitely breath but yes you have to take care for your eyes especially when it's windy. Volcanic ashes in your eyes is not a pleasant situation. I speak from experience 😅
Grazie mille. Ciao
Thank you. I'm loving this. Being a big fan of "Inspector Montalbano" over the years, I'm excited to see more of Sicily. Especially, when it is conducted with your amazing enthusiasm for living.
I’m sicilian, from Messina. Since 5 years I live in Canada. I have been following you since a long time. Always loved your content. This time I became very emotional. Thank you very much for this wonderful video from my beloved homeland. You managed to bring me back. Tears of joy. You two are the best. Keep the amazing quality. Grazie mille ragazzi! Siete riusciti a farmi commuovere. Grazie di cuore. Siete una splendida coppia. Continuate cosí. Sicilia troppu bedda comu tutta l’Italia ❤
I am Sicilian and admittedly love it but it would be a dream for me to be able to move like you and find a good job and Canada sounds awesome albeit cold! How did you manage to move there? I am open to advice :D
I visited Catania in 1990 when I was in the Air Force. I was stationed on the island of Crete and travelled there to do some communication work for the Air Force. We were working on the Navy Base there. I loved the market and food was awesome. The day we left the Carabinieri escorted some judges on the plane on our way to Rome. What a trip.
Love these little slices of life videos, where you get to see what the average person there lives/experiences. It's like doing a road trip in the States where you purposefully take the US/states routes and completely avoid the highways.
I loved this video guys! For me the best place for breakfast is Bar Mazzini (exactly where you were showing the ancient Roman columns) The food, pastries, coffees are so delicious & the building has the original vaulted ceilings inside, it’s so beautiful! You can never get bored in Catania, it’s perfect for seeing real Sicilian life❤
I’ve never had a desire to go to Italy until yalls videos. Now I want to take my family so badly! Thank you for all the information and beautiful sights.
I visit almost all Italy next Sunday 15 September I will be in catania . Lucky living in Switzerland its so easy to visit Italy I save the name of all restaurants going to eating and café too 👍👍👍🥰🥰
So cool to finally see y'all explore our current home! Full of quirks, and definitely full of grit, but special nonetheless. Between the fish market on Saturdays, the antique market on Sundays and the incredible cuisine, there's no doubt Catania is a gem in its own right. Thank you for showcasing her uniqueness!
I’ve loved this. Grazie! Jesse, please take a still of your footage at the yellow wall and blow it up! You looked STUNNING! So enjoying watching you. Delightful. ❤
It seems like you both have been away a long time. Have really missed you videos of Italy. Catania is a very beautiful place and Mt Etna looked amazing. Thank you for sharing 🤗🤗
I am so enchanted with your travel videos. You get into the things I love--architecture, art, history, legends, local people, local specialities. You are knowledgeable & entertaining. I would love to travel with you😉. I also enjoy your other videos. Among the best of the best.
thanks for visiting us! Glad you had a good time. One culinary experience you missed out on though is the horse meat culture. A lot of foreigners are put off by just how much of a big deal horse meat is in Catania but it's delicious. Driving down Via Plebiscito around lunchtime, getting all those roasted meat smells through the windows is sooo worth it.
SO thrilled to see a new video from my favorite couple!! Mm Street Food may be the greatest restaurant name I've ever heard...so cute! 😆 And wow, that creamy almond granita and brioche was one of the most unique snacks I've ever seen! Love you guys and thank you for sharing memories with us 🥰
So nice to see you in Sicily enjoying the culture and of course the delicious food. I think the Umbrellas look so pretty.. the colors are beautiful. Is there a certain time of year they display them? We will be in Italy next week, visiting family in Avellino, then Tuscany, and Rome It's our third time there.. it's so hard to stay away from this beautiful country and people. Maybe we'll run into you one of these days!
Ah! I am so bummed - we JUST got back from Italy before you started posting this content. You have such great tips! We were in Palermo for a few days. Also misunderstood and beautiful ❤
It feels kinda weird seeing a tour of the city i live in, especially when the video is in english, it looks so foreign yet so familiar. The footage is very beautiful and i appreciate you guys for giving more notoriety to the city. Un saluto da Catania.
What camera are you using on this video? I don't know if it was the beautiful light outside or what especially at mark 14:30 but the picture looks so good!
My wife and I are happy to see you enjoyed your time in Catania. We're hoping you guys make it to San Vito Lo Capo on the western side of the island. It's a truly breathtaking town with the nicest beach in Sicily. We'd love to hear your thoughts on it. Have fun and be safe!
in italy tourists are supposed to eat always and stroll xD it's good indeed if they manage to make some friendships along the way too! Jessi looks amazing inside and outside, i'm just praying for your positive results in the hospital for her for a fruitful operation!
We were in Catania this past November and stayed a couple of streets over from where you stayed. We only found one restaurant where the food wasn't very good (the pasta was crunchy and not cooked). I didn't choose it but it was also against my rule of "No English Menu". It was on one of those left turn side streets after the fish market but before the Piazza. Otherwise, we loved Catania.
No way, I just missed you guys! Left a week ago. 😢Will be back soon, this time for good! Absolutely love your videos, and you did a wonderful job on this one as usual 😊🤩 My family is from Melilli (30 minutes south of Catania)
My Father was a Canadian Soldier who was in the Italian Campaign. They landed in Scilly and then fought there way up the boot to Ortona. Ortona was street to street fighting and was considered one of the worst battles of the war, earning the reputation of “Little Stalingrad.” They we’re fighting elite German paratroopers. That’s where my Father was wounded and lost five of his friends. If he were alive today he would be amazed by all the food. Mostly the people were starving and many emigrated to Canada.🇨🇦
I did not expect the number of seafood dishes in catania, but I know I should have. I can't remember tasting Granite, so I must have not been introduced to it. We also missed the Olive Leaf liqueur. Instead we got the cactus liqueur called "Fire of Etna" ... it was 70% alcohol ... leathal.
You could always tell them light salt...and order an extra glass of plain cold water... but when its hot and youve been walking around a lot...you actually need that salt to replenish you. 😊
Cari amici, I luv you two! 🫶The video is magnifico. Catania is my favorite city in Italy. 🇮🇹Could you please add Italian or even better, Sicilian music to the background? Grazie! Tanti abbracci.
(#578) Next time, go to Alta Villa Milica, Sicily, Italy!!! Ask about the Madonna festival around or on September 8th.. Catania is very beautiful also.
I love your outfits Jessi! Where do you get these amazing dresses?? Love your videos in general. You are a great couple. Also have a question, how do you finance this move? We are pondering our options and just wondering where to even start....additionally, I need good healthcare...how is healthcare in Italy? Sorry for all the questions, maye you can shed some light. That would be benissimo❤
This is going to be bizarre, but I'm strangely happy to know that Jessi is allergic to shellfish because so am I. xD I'm so glad you guys filmed Catania, as part of my ancestry came from there. :)
You guys went from doing a daily cooking show and saying you would be back on Monday (like two months ago) and disappeared loll. Nice to see you back! I am Napolitan my parents came to America in 1965. Growing up there was always a rivalry between us Napolitan’s and the Sicilians. And for me I was told growing up ….never trust a Sicilian and those are words I live by to this day and every interaction with them had always lead to that being so true time and time again. From coworkers to past friends. And we grew up knowing they aren’t “real” Italians as a lot of them have African blood in them. Still true. When I say don’t trust them, I mean they are sneaky and two faced. And you have to really be in an Italian neighborhood and around them to understand.
I must've gone in all the wrong directions. I was fairly sketched out in Catania. Several locations where I felt uncomfortable walking at night, and nearly nowhere I'd feel good leaving a car. I was enchanted by the rest of the eastern coast (siracusa, Taormina, messina), but the charm of catania eluded me.

Love the grotto, those umbrellas make things so festive
I loved the medieval walls near the fish market that used to be the port before earthquakes and lava arrived. So fascinating!

Hi Jesse, I enjoyed the video very much. Your husband seems to be argentinian. What an incredible country is Italy! I love it. Thank you.
Maybe because half Argentina is basically Italians speaking Spanish 😂

It's so strange because we are actually very close with Napolitans here.
We share the same "southern culture".
the drink is good for your body salt and lime for electrolytes especially hot weather...
Love the seafood market! Are there any restaurants nearby that will cook the seafood?
When fish is fresh it does not have a fishy smell or taste. When you have had fresh fish you know the difference. Fresh fish is the best!!
I ate horse for the first time in Catania. It was delicious!

oooo...I'd be very curious to try the tuna bottarga as bottarga di muggine (roe) is a huge staple here in Sardinia. I've never had the tuna version!
