    Mine starts out soft.. but gets hard when a steelhead bites. 😂
    50/50 combo. Hard bead pegged up top and a soft bead just above the hook for that natural feel when they hit and as you guys said the soft one won’t affect the hook.
    🤘🎣

    SOFT BEAD FIX/TIP!!
    you guys were mentioning the downfall of soft beads not sinking as fast or being to buoyant. To eliminate this what I use is the smallest split shot I can find or fit on my leader (thinner leader=smaller shot you can crimp) and use that as the "peg" for soft beads. I'll crimp a small shot just tight enough where I can slide it if I need, then slip the soft egg over that split shot and bury it in the middle of the soft egg. The shot becomes invisible, doesnt affect the eggs look, however the shot gives the soft bead something to hold on as well as allowing it to sink faster.

      I'm definitely going to try this. Thanks Ashton Cz. I'll use it in faster water where the strong current can mask the drag of even the smallest tin B split shot. If I hook trout I'll be a hero. If I don't I'll blame you. HaHa! Tight lines.

    I fish both. For me I fish I river that usually this time of year has a lot of wind. Hard beads if it’s windy. If not I fish soft. But I think also a factor that nobody talks about is how much lead your fishing. Great video, love you guys.

    expense is a factor for me and hard beads are much less expensive. So, a small selection of soft, lots of hard and tie glo bugs as a third option. Love em all

    Thanks guys , great tutorial .. I run both soft and hard at different times . Kinda like you guys do .. Another way to help keep the bead stop from sliding down is to tie a small knot below the bead stop … it’s not perfect but definitely helps it stay up … As long as you use a good fluorocarbon like Seagur a knot won’t weaken the line .. never had one break yet .. from 8/lb on up .. I’d like to see a tutorial on drift fishing the big 20 , 25 and 32 mm soft bead for Kings … that’s what I’ve been trying with no luck on the mid to lower Sac , but this year is super tough due to the drought conditions .. The places I can fish don’t hold fish , they move thru quickly to the colder water further up river .. it boils down to a lot of luck and if I didn’t have Bad luck I’d have No luck at all .. THANKS GUYS

I can remember ever losing a fish to line breakage and know I've landed dozens using this method. Thank you guys keep it up!!

    Just came up on my feed...I was basically mouthing what you guys were saying. You really covered the exact reason why I push the Soft Plastics here in the shop over everything else. The 3 key points, Ease of changing color and Size, Fish definitely hang onto them longer and finally the pivot point is a huge factor. Hard beads work as a shim to push fish off. The squishiness of the soft plastic allow for there to be more play near the hook keeping the fish on during the fight. There isnt much that I see on the Net that I agree with but you knocked it outta the park. Tight lines boys!

  • @willdouglas7504
    @willdouglas7504 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Soft or hard, from experiance I think it really doesn't matter. I feel like a soft bead is more convenient, it's way more easy to switch out like Nick said. Let's be honest too during peak season with heavy competition you always want to be fishing and less time you have to switch out set ups to switch a color can become a nightmare and end result less fish on in your day.

    I emailed BnR the other day because I was confused about the video on their website that said that the beads could be changed over the hook while you're on the water and how that was supposed to work with the t-stop. I gathered after that conversation that changing the bead over the hook with the t-stop isn't possible so I'm not sure why their video was about. One of the packages of beads that I bought didn't have the t-stops enclosed but had bobber stops and sequins inside. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure that whoever I emailed at BnR said that they were doing away with the t-stops. I sent a follow-up email to get more clarification and never heard back.
    Also, in this video, you guys sounded like you were going to explain how to use the glass bead but you never got to it. I'd like to see how you rig those maybe in a supplemental video.

    I have issues using the t stops and I’m sure everyone does. The beads slide over them if you hang up and it’s hard to get the bead back up over the t stop. Sometimes the bead ends up down on the hook and the t stop just stays where it was lol. Need a bigger size base on them or a harder material. OR glass bead trick with a sequin below the bead, I don’t like the t stops on beads over 12mm 😔

  • @zackmccormick5845
    @zackmccormick5845 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I just ordered a bunch of hard beads. Is their opening big enough to slide over a small bobber stop, similar to the T-stop? Just curious.

  • @andrewwebster13

    Pulling a light colored soft bead over the bead stop results in a blood dot egg pattern. Try pulling a yellow or green translucent soft bead over a red stopper and you have a blood dot option however this technique does degrade over time.

Tryin to figure out a knot that yields 100 % line strength - couldnt find the answer to that for the ashley stopper. Also saw a guy slip an xtra sm transparent bobber stop up into his threaded soft egg from below - invisible. Pretty clever I thought.

    so are rubber eggs a soft bead?? I use Jensen egg thats a soft egg .and what about double threading the tag in to the egg instead of a peg>??? and what about spawn sacs??anyone ever use those in the Northwest???

    • @drk4149
      @drk4149 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the egg is easily compressed down when squeezing it, then that's a soft bead, if not, it's a hard bead (hard rubber that's not easy to press down= hard bead).
      Double threading the bead still requires a peg in most circumstances because it will still slide in faster currents with just the line double threaded. I use to double thread my beads, but after having lost too many over a short period of time, I've come to realize that it's putting too much un-needed stress on my line that causes my leaders to break off too easy. So in my opinion, I wouldn't double thread.. especially in faster moving water and if you're using leaders that are 10lb test or under.
      Finally, yes, we use spawn sacs in the Northwest. Very effective when permitted on certain river systems.
