    Thank you Manny. As a fellow Courage member, your (our) message needs desperately to get out there, no pun intended. Too many just equate love with the goal of having a sexual partner, not grasping the sinfulness let alone the biological abnormality of homosexual acts.

      Because the best of humans have a good heart in the sense they enjoin good and resist evil, and just as important, a good brain able to distinguish truth from lies. As the Christian sects all offer both wickedness and delusion, people of good intention and good reason will naturally resist and leave them. I could say the same thing about Islam or communism. Totalitarian religious and political ideologies delude men and make them wicked.

    I want you to imagine something for me. Just for a second.
    Imagine you are a teacher, its your turn to supervise the lunch room while the kids are eating. Its a special day today, and to reward the kids for doing so well on their tests the lunch ladies are serving ice cream. Each kid has a smile on their face, they're all enjoying themselves...all except for one, Dylan
    Poor Dylan looks so sad, so you walk over to him and ask him whats wrong.
    "I wanted ice cream." He says.
    "Did they not give you any?"
    "I...cant have it."
    "Oh i see, does the milk upset your tummy?"
    "No."
    "Are you allergic to something in it?"
    "No its not that."
    You notice Dylan is not making eye contact, his chest is heaving and his face looks like he might start to cry. You sit down next to him and him earnestly:
    "Its ok dylan, you can tell me, why cant you have any ice-cream?"
    "Because, my dad thinks its evil. And he'll burn my hand on the stove if he finds out i ate some."
    You are horrified by Dylans words, and soon you are making the necessary calls to CPS.
    ~~~~~~
    Somehow christians get away with doing the exact same thing, threatening people with burning over something as innocuous as what genitals the person you love has. Come to your senses gentlemen.
      While I understand your analogy and commend highly your efforts at articulating the reality of SSA with this paradigm, eating ice cream is not the moral equivalent of doing something with your body, and someone else’s, that involves your entire being, body, mind and soul. It’s an honest effort at trying to articulate, and, like I said, I understand what you’re trying to get at in terms of expressing the feelings of isolation, marginalization, and the experiences of fear and shame. The analogy falls apart, however, when the weight of moral equivalency is factored into the analogy. In the final analysis, having to deal with SSA and ALL that surrounds it, and accompanies that existential reality is simply not fair. The Catechism goes as far as to say that living a Christian life with a homosexual orientation is harder. That, however, is our cross! That is our path to salvation. Seeking to offer the difficulties, challenges and hardships, whether it be the emotional, psychological or societal difficulties, or the injustices and prejudice we often face, but seeking to offer all that suffering to the Lord, is the key to living out the holiness to which we are called as women and men chosen to bear this particular cross. Seeking to do this with joy, with love for God and those who often persecute us when the pain and suffering can often feel useless and unappreciated, even unacknowledged is the path of heroic virtue. I promise you, the only way this will be done is to die to yourself, to your own wants and desires, in small ways and in big, such that Christ then lives in us. We must die to our pride, our selfishness, certainly to our lust and greed, but also to our desire to have our cross… not be one. We must wrestle with all of this if we are going to develop the virtues necessary for growth in holiness. That’s how we cooperate with this admittedly difficult to understand and accept, but nevertheless, grace, that will make the world a better place because we’re in it and we’re chosen for this!!
      @@paolantonio641it would be nice, as a homosexual, instead of giving propaganda by a famously murderous and criminal organization like the Catholic Church based on scriptures that are in grave natural error and are contradictory, to give a reasoned response based on objective reality. I am an ex Christian, I used to believe all this nonsense. You know the Muslim will say the exact same thing right? It’s just a test from god. Yet he believes you are deeply deluded and destined for hell. And you say the same about him. The truth is that the Catholic Church is a human made and human run institution, susceptible to error. The Bible is a human made and edited library where primitive savagery and natural error is ubiquitous. If you want to place your faith in lies and act in this life as a wicked man, that is on you. But I will not be a part of that evil and deluded blood magic cult called the Catholic Church nor any other of the equally erroneous sects of the Christian, Muslim, or Buddhist faiths.
    Hey there. I'm not religious at all (in particular, i have no experience with Catholicism other than having lived my life in Brazil and Portugal), and so normally i avoid commenting on videos like these, but early on the video, Manny makes a point (timestamp is 4:46), which amounts to something like, "If you are a same-sex attracted man or woman then you cannot live in the church" being a misconception that you would like to debunk, but i'm sorry to say, no, that is probably not a misconception at all.
    You see, just yesterday i watched a video by a youtuber that goes by "Gay (ex)Trad Speaks", namely his video entitled "Coming Out in the Catholic Church: Discerning the Priesthood, Same-Sex Attraction, and Why I Left", and me watching that video is probably what made the TH-cam video algorithm recommend KC's own here to me. And in that video, the gentleman is pretty clear: he had a clear goal, which was to join some sort of monastic Catholic organization (again, i'm not deeply familiar with Catholicism, so please excuse me if i have any details wrong and just watch the video instead), but because he disclosed that in the past he had a same-sex experience, he was denied entry to the organization. I believe the specific organization are the Carmelites, and if i am reading their website correctly, people who had sinful lives in the past are still allowed to become monks.
    In other words, no, if you struggle with same-sex attraction, there definitely are aspects of Catholicism that you will not be able to embrace; and this is disregarding the obvious stuff, like life with an opposite-sex spouse.
    You can rationalize this as much as you want - "Oh, but that's just a tiny part of what the church as a whole represents, you can still live your life within regular Catholicism", or, "Well, we can't exactly be having same-sex attracted people locked in with fellows of the same-sex 24/7, what if something happens, who is gonna be responsible then" - but the reality of the matter is that these so-called "small incompatibilities" are bound to have unforeseen consequences (case in point, the person in the video i've mentioned eventually deconstructed all the way out of the religion entirely).
    I have no reason to doubt Manny. I believe him when he says he leads a fulfilling and complete life as a practicing Catholic who happens to be same-sex attracted. I just think people should be real, real careful before doing any sort of generalization based on biased anecdotes, and i'm leaving this comment here as a signpost towards other experiences that you might consider evaluating before coming to a conclusion on this subject.
      Men with homosexual “deep-seated tendencies” or that are living a homosexual lifestyle are barred entry into religious life, but that is not the same as being same-sex attracted: feeling an attraction is not the same as acting out on them, and this is why many men who have same-sex attraction are ordained priests, they are fundamentally no different than straight men. That said, a person who is attracted to the same sex and is acting on their impulses, though they can’t fully partake of the sacraments, is still invited to attend Mass and to live an active life within their parish and the Church. We are all on a path of conversion even if God’s work of sanctification is not evident to our eyes.
      "Living in the Church" does not mean one must be a priest or religious. There are many other factors that prevent plenty of other people from being accepted into a religious order (personality conflicts; history of mental illness; age limits; college debt) and the priesthood (being female; age limits; history of mental illness)... The vast majority of Catholics are just regular lay people, like Manny and myself, and we are"living in the Church" as much as any priest or religious. Straight people frequently aren't accepted into seminary and religious orders, too.
    Speaking as a 55 year gay Catholic who attempted to feel included in the Catholic Church, I came to the realization that it just tolerated my presence in the Church!
    Moving to the Lutheran Church, I found the assistant pastor was a lesbian with a child and realized that here was real acceptance and it was outside the Catholic Church.
    Jesus was about people: about love, charity, and acceptance.
    The Catholic Church is all about ceremony, scriptures, catechisms, candles, incense, missals - all non-people!
    Jesus would not recognize His church and the inhumanity of the Catholic Church!
      I an 88 year old teacher (3rd, 4th, 5th grade) and I know the territory.
      Remember: God created coyotes, weeds, and people.
      He loves us like a Father and we don't need to earn His love.
      His love is all-encompassing, not exclusionary and this sin-bit is a Catholic overreach!
      The Catholic Church mistake is that one needs to go to Mass on Sunday to go to heaven.
      Meanwhile, life is to be lived for other people and then everyone (God's children) goes back to their Father!
      Sadly, you are right! Being born gay means you are an "outsider."
      I was born into a super-Catholic family and so I never developed gay relationships because of moral reasons.
      I married for 18 years, had 4 kids, but split up!
      Then had a prostate removal surgery and sex was now impossible for me!
      I would say that you might hate the Catholic Church version of Jesus.
      The real Jesus loved his fellow apostles with a genuine affection: especially John (shadows of gay!).
      The real enemy for gay Catholics is the Catholic Church who instead of embracing gay people, just tolerates them.
    We all live on a home that soars around the Sun. It is the only place that we know that exists where we are able to live and breathe.
