    In this workout, we are going through some great seated resistance movements using 5lbs dumbells.
    Using dumbells or any kind of weight is a great way to work your muscles and build strength. You don’t need to use very heavy weights to achieve this.
    If you don’t have weights you can substitute using water bottles or cans of soup. Anything that can add a small amount of resistance will help you get more out of your workouts!
    This workout is seated all the way through so you can stay comfortable and move at your own pace.
    Remember to always keep your water close and take breaks whenever you need to. Always only do motions that you are comfortable with and never force anything that causes pain or discomfort.
    Have a great workout!

    I was so sad when our gym closed because of the shutdown. It was such an important part of my life and there were other old people like me with whom I always looked forward to working out. My niece in America recommended your workout video and I am so happy. I have only just started and I do this one twice every morning. I haven't missed a day since December 15th. After I get this one so it goes well (correct breathing is a challenge because I never learned it) I plan to branch into your other videos. And thank you for smiling at just the right times. I know you can't see any of us but it feels like you. are giving us encouragement. Greetings from the Netherlands.

      Hello Shamima! I am glad you found the channel for your mom! I think 3kg is a little heavy to start. Maybe lighter unless she has been lifting that weight. I recommend 1-2lbs to start, even small water bottles are sufficient.
      Please keep me posted on how she is doing!

      Hi Mandy! Thank you so much for the comment, I am so happy you enjoy the workout. I would not do a resistance training workout every day, but every other day. Do a cardio workout in between. This gives the muscles time to rest, mend, and grow.

    enjoy your videos but unable to do some leg/knee ones as I am waiting for knee replacement surgery on both knees (bone on bone now), maybe you could do a video for legs/knees with this problem using resistance band/weights etc which would be beneficial before surgery, thanks

    • @SeniorFitnessWithMeredith
      @SeniorFitnessWithMeredith  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Meg! I want to thank you for watching and enjoying my videos. Also, I want to say good luck with your upcoming double knee replacement surgery. I'm sure all will go great!
      As for your suggestion for a new video, I think it is great! I will put it on the list to get working on very soon!
      Until then, my suggestion is for you to continue working hard like you are...but really concentrate on using your quadricep muscles, the thigh muscle in the front of the upper part of the leg. Really work on building that up to help protect the knee joint. Also, doing range of motion work now, and after surgery. Keeping the knee joints lubricated and working each day!
      Below are a couple suggestions of workouts that can be done for your knee health!
      Take care and stay healthy!
      Meredith
      This workout uses a looped resistance band, which is great for building up the muscles around the knee joint.
      th-cam.com/video/7HzGAzLNLQE/w-d-xo.html
      This workout goes through seated range of motion, but really focus on the lower body leg lift and extensions.

    What age are you calling Seniors ? This seems very light weight .

    • @SeniorFitnessWithMeredith
      @SeniorFitnessWithMeredith  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Joseph! Thanks for the comment/question. The term Senior is quite broad. I do not put an age on it, nor do I put an age on any of my workouts. It really is the level a person is at and what they feel comfortable doing. My motto is “slow and steady”, and “listen to your body”. Some workouts are more geared towards beginners, adaptive care, rehab, etc.
      I hope this answers you well enough. Take care and stay well, Meredith

      @@SeniorFitnessWithMeredith thank you for your answer . At 67 sometimes I feel like we are all treat as if we were feeble . Even though I can out lift many half my age . Often we are treated like we have one foot in a nursing home and the other in the grave. Also forgive me for being a little sensitive . ...
      In saying all this there are things I can use but will need to rev it up to the next notch. Such as behind the back stretch for the rhomboids. And thank you for the service you provide.

    • @SeniorFitnessWithMeredith
      @SeniorFitnessWithMeredith  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally understand that Joseph, that is why I like levels...many 90+ year olds I have worked with can do more than a 30 year old. Age is a number, not ability level:)
