@@juniorhunter7268 hopefully that is coming because midi definitely need a container or block. Right now it’s floating and grid in arranger mode is kind of weird looking. It would be a mess to use track mute automation on track mute groups (drums, instruments) if the mute information is there already. If blocks or containers come to midi then we should be able to slice at bars for breaks and then tracks mutes by sequence would be very nice to have.

The funny thing is, these longer sequences were already possible with prior versions going back to the MPC 60. Haven't worked with the 60's, the 3000 or the 2000's, but with later iterations it was easy to join sequemces to a whole song then merge/render the song into its own new long sequence, which you could edit almost the same ways as shown here. It's just a matter of managing those longer sequences. It's now just a bit easier to manage these "whole song sequences".
What would be the approach to arrange old projects with different sequences? Is it to make sequence from all the sequences in song mode and then move and arrange? Or there is a way to add or copy paste different sequences as you go on the arranger?
Hi and thanks for this tutorial...can you tell me; the qlink encoders are touch sensitive and kinda get in the way of the end point loop...can I turn off the way the encoder shows on screen every time I use one of them when setting loop end points...
This was the tutorial I needed. I was confused with the arranger. I had to brute force and use it when the sequence I had had difficulty using the old song mode feature. Now I figured out how to use the arranger and can make better arranged beats. I noticed 3 has a lot of old features thought were going to be missed like track mutes which you had shown as well as the legacy song mode which I been using. Also I upgraded to 3 and not looking back. My issue with 2 was the fact the programs were all over the place and when it came to mixing the beat there were programs either duplicates or missing but was still shown in the mixer window. So I like the fact that is no longer an issue and just has one track for each instrument being used.

I’m waiting for the official release of 3.0. I think a lot of problems that people have with the Beta version will be ironed out when the official version releases
thx for this video malo. Is there a way to copy bars within the sequence in arranger view? for example If I decided to edit the drum groove, or edit the sample chops every 4th bar.
Absolutely, this is what I love about the MPC in standalone you’re able to copy specific sections and at first it might be a bit tedious but once you get the concept, it’s easy to repeat
In my opinion the real change is how programs/tracks are handled. The arranger is just "Track View" from desktop software. There are no real tools so far to arrange, and not enough screen real-estate to accommodate both arranger and grid editor. Even on the big screen MPC X I'm using its not enough, without patterns/clips this is not an arranger. I like the new UI and mixer but before I had all 16 link controlling level of 16 tracks, now its acting like channel strip and I have to choose which track I want to control its volume. Little disappointed to be honest. Hope it's fixed and improved in the official release.

This update is pretty amazing, but it looks like they removed the ability to change the time signature of a track outside of 4/4? I can't seem to find that option anymore? Am I missing something or is it something they will still be adding in the future? I might have to revert to 2.0 because a lot of my projects are broken without it.

Questions 1. Can you create blank bars after previous made bars. 2. Can you copy and paste bars anywhere in the arrangement 3. Can you loop a section and if so can you press a pad and erase to quickly erase the midi for that pad??
I upgraded to 3.0 but switched back. I'm working on a beat in a 6/8 time division and it did not transfer over correctly. 3.0 put it back in a 4/4 and I couldn't find any time division options in 3.0😖

Mutes are now global across all sequences. So if you mute drums in sequence 1, drums will be muted across all sequences. A lot slower now to get same results
Hey brother, yes you’re able to open up 2.00 files in 3.0 however you will notice minor changes if the 3.0 does not support some of the settings. I have not had any issues so far when opening my 2.0 projects yet. I would look into this a bit deeper as I’m just speculating

Since I just got my MPC about a week ago, I'm going to download 3.0 today. I've watched hours of tutorials and understand 2.0. No need to get comfortable there
Hey brother, thank you so much for taking the time to sharing this amazing input. It really means a lot. This is an interesting topic. I was doing this for a bit with my vinyl but notice that when pitching it back down to normal speed, there’s a lost of bass/low end and it’s also detuned just a tad. I think this is only when I sample from vinyl since when I do the same thing Directly into my computer and then it down from the MPC or computer keeps the low end intact without the tuning the sample. I think this has to do with the way vinyl is cut in general, but it truly is an interesting topic that I might do a video on alone.
@malobeats this is true... when we sampled we would add bass from the dj mixer going in to the sp to compensate or enhance the frequency we needed. Remember it was DJs who sampled most and the mixer was our pre-stem separation.
Quality of life tip: at 9:11, instead of clicking edit to get to the erase function, just click the physical erase button on the MPC. It's one less click in the menu dive ;)
@@jpalusky oh man!!! This is the type of community I live for lol. Thank you so so much for this insightful tip. I got to try this out next time. I really appreciate you, brother.
Okay I might need some help here with 3.0 . I updated my live 2 last night but now my live doesn't show my external SSD that I installed, that's also where I loaded all my sample packs and expansions. I don't want to reformat the drive anyone know a work around? I haven't updated my X so I still have that access.
One problem I see in MPC 3 is that it seems like no one is thinking about scenarios that go beyond Sequence 01. In MPC 2, each track has its role within each sequence. Now, each track repeats itself in all sequences. Think about the following project in MPC 2: In Sequence 1, let's say we have a 130bpm trap, with 4 tracks: drum trap (1), synth (2), bass (3) and strings (4). In Sequence 2, for example, a 140bpm drill, also with 4 tracks: drum drill (1), bass (2), pad (3) and perc (4). Notice the different organizations in each sequence. If I want to quickly access the drum kit of each style (which is on track 01 of each sequence) in MPC 2, I would just have to tap the sequence name once and turn the main knob. With the MPC 2 stopped, I can finger drum on both drum kits instantly. And with the MPC 2 playing, at the end of the sequence bars I can play each drum kit. There are only 2 hand movements. This allows the user to choose a "quick access" drum kit per sequence. This same project, in the context of the MPC 3, is impossible. To begin with, we have 8 tracks repeating in ALL SEQUENCES. We already have a distraction in how to arrange the tracks that should be played with the specificities contained in the Trap sequence and in the Drill sequence... Should I alternate the tracks 1:1? Should I allocate the first 4 tracks for the trap and tracks 5, 6, 7 and 8 for the drill? Here we have already wasted time. Assuming that the drum trap would be on track 1 and the drum drill on track 5 in MPC 3, to go from sequence 1 to sequence 2, I would need to: touch the sequence, turn the main knob, touch the track, turn the main knob 4 times until I reach the drum drill. That's 7 movements. Even the risk of choosing the wrong track increases with so many movements. Even putting the drum drill on track 2, for example, would be 4 movements. I'm in favor of converting programs into tracks. But, this could be done independently, in each sequence. If I open a new sequence, track 01 should be free. I'm hoping this is a bug and not a change in concept (because it doesn't make any sense).
Odd thats the same work flow I do with MPC beats before I bounce it to FL. I do like that you can select the bars you want to edit instead of doing a one take until you get it.

I’m waiting for the official release of 3.0. I think a lot of problems that people have with the Beta version will be ironed out when the official version releases
My thoughts exactly
Hope too, because now I downgraded to 2.15
thx for this video malo.
Upgraded.
Great tutorial, the beat sounds amazing
Thank you, this means a lot
Nice content!
Thank you so much
I mean this sincerely....your beats and your style is one of my favorites of all time.
Some of the best boom bap beats ever....Wu Tang Clan would be fire on every one your hooks.
Do you have full songs on Spotify or any guests who perform over top?
Keep the amazing music...and the inspiration for that matter...coming!!!
🔥 💯
Ill definitely grab your course for the 3.0 content coming. Also what is the genres of the latino music you find. It kicks ass.. id like to search some similar vibes.
Got a key 37 no long ago and can’t wait to download the 3.0. It is not to far away from my work flow on my Roland MV8800 but far far better imo. A vga output and mouse would make it bullet proof lol. Loving the Mpc so far.
Eagerly awaiting the desktop version
seems like there are some features missing... or maybe they've been hidden somewhere
This update is pretty amazing, but it looks like they removed the ability to change the time signature of a track outside of 4/4? I can't seem to find that option anymore? Am I missing something or is it something they will still be adding in the future? I might have to revert to 2.0 because a lot of my projects are broken without it.
Same
I haven’t seen any video on what happens when you are used to working in controller mode with the software? How does the update affect that workflow?
In controller mode it stays in 2.15
It would put you back to 2.0
Where can we get that merch I need that hat tho no cap 👌
Yo!! Thank you bro. Hopefully I can have this sometime soon available
That sample ✅
Yo!! Thank you brotha. Really means a lot
Nice work Malo. May use the areanger after dumping my sequences in song mode. I love how they made everything accessible from the main page. A little getting used to and it will speed up my workflow even more
I think you may be right
Track mutes are global in this beta you can not use song mode the way we use to
@@LewisSales I just tested recording tack mutes automation in a few separate sequences, put them into song mode and exported the song into a separate sequences. The mute automation I recorded seemed to transfer fine?
hey malo. What exactly is the splice integration? Will this happen again like in 2.0? can you say something about it?
Questions
1. Can you create blank bars after previous made bars.
2. Can you copy and paste bars anywhere in the arrangement
3. Can you loop a section and if so can you press a pad and erase to quickly erase the midi for that pad??
1. I’m not sure, but this would be really cool if we could. I’ll get back to you on this one.
2. Yes we can.
3. Yes
Dope
Oh shit the beat do you make so dope. Have you this beat on youtube or so? I will that please, so dope 😊
I upgraded to 3.0 but switched back. I'm working on a beat in a 6/8 time division and it did not transfer over correctly. 3.0 put it back in a 4/4 and I couldn't find any time division options in 3.0😖
Wow!! Thank you for mentioning this. I just write another comment similar to yours so I’m sure it’s something they need to address. Thank you for taking the time and sharing this
@@malobeats Thank you! I hope they fix this, as it kills so many of my previous projects, so I can't upgrade unless this is fixed. :(
Report it to Akai. That's the whole point of betas, right?
@Malo how will old projects work on MPC3, I have a ton of projects I made on 2.0 and would like to know before I download 3.0
@@R.G.777. They work ... I was thinking the same thing and I saved all my projects on my computer just to be safe.
@@illustrate2000 thanks bro, one more question, can you explain how they work, I know that might seem like a strange question but most videos make it seem like the process of making songs is completely different
Mutes are now global across all sequences. So if you mute drums in sequence 1, drums will be muted across all sequences. A lot slower now to get same results
@@LewisSalesaparrently mutes like 2.0 are coming also
Hey brother, yes you’re able to open up 2.00 files in 3.0 however you will notice minor changes if the 3.0 does not support some of the settings. I have not had any issues so far when opening my 2.0 projects yet. I would look into this a bit deeper as I’m just speculating
Hey man i have i problem with my moc one since i downloaded the moc 3 beta
It says that i need to activate it before i use it but when i downloaded it the activation button wont show up
Can you help me with this
Bruh the more I’ve been using the beta the MORE I’m loving it. Once we have track mutes per sequence back and track mutes not cutting off audio it’ll be perfect for me. Even as is I don’t mind those features missing - the arranger is just clicking for me and automation on buses is amazing
I could do that way faster with 2.15
with track mutes
It’s cool but why get rid of programs, they should have kept programs and tweak the tracks function on the mpc2 software.there’s a few ways you can build up a song on the mpc without arranger mode.
How do you load or save into the Samsung 2TB internal hard drive?🤔
I think the new update is fire ! I like it so far...
does anyone know how I can delete a sequence (so it says "unused sequence" again...) ?
I do not find any menu / button to do so...
btw - I love your channel Malo and how you explain stuff . very inspiring
@@ghettoturtle hey brother, thank you for taking the time and showing up right here. I’m not in front of my MPC at the moment, but I believe you should be able to delete a sequence by selecting the pencil icon on your upper right hand side of the main page.
@@malobeats that‘s what I thought and would usually expect. I can’t find any opinion in this menu though. It only deletes all recorded sequence data but the name of the sequence will still be there… I would rather have it set back to „empty sequence“.
I hope that Akai will come up with the final update soon.
I also noticed that my MPC Live 2 takes a few more seconds to load up a new emty project.
Maybe the new software also needs a hardware upgrade. A new MPC Live 3 would be nice 🙂 peace from Berlin / Germany
Beat is hitting bro 👏👏👏👏👏🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡
Thank you so much
1:25 dope!!! 🔥🔥🔥
First sample crazy
@@mystertom100 thank you 🙏
Since I just got my MPC about a week ago, I'm going to download 3.0 today. I've watched hours of tutorials and understand 2.0. No need to get comfortable there
@@KingShaka_daGreat just on time and I would do the same thing about were you. The learning curve will be the same. Congratulations brother.
@@KingShaka_daGreat I’m thinking you’re in the demographic Akai had in mind and 3.O HARDWARE buyers…
Is there no bounce sequence function anymore?
I believe there is but I would have to get back to you on this one
Hey Malo sample your records on 45 bpm when you pitch them down it gives then some saturation.
Depends on your sample rate
@malobeats this is true... when we sampled we would add bass from the dj mixer going in to the sp to compensate or enhance the frequency we needed. Remember it was DJs who sampled most and the mixer was our pre-stem separation.
@@MELSELECTA101 thank you for this insightful info. 🙏🙏🙏

I hope Akai Makes piano roll midi notes match the channel strip colours! Please Akai!!
so it corresponds with the pad color?

I haven't updated my X so I still have that access.
the Akai folks say welcome to the club, late bloomers!
One problem I see in MPC 3 is that it seems like no one is thinking about scenarios that go beyond Sequence 01.
In MPC 2, each track has its role within each sequence. Now, each track repeats itself in all sequences.
Think about the following project in MPC 2:
In Sequence 1, let's say we have a 130bpm trap, with 4 tracks: drum trap (1), synth (2), bass (3) and strings (4).
I just got it, and it kind of sucks. I think it’s just that it’s so new to me. But so far not really liking it
Brother, thank you for that QLink 3/4 trick. Much appreciated.
These 🔁 loop shortcuts are gonna come in handy
I look forward to 3.0
good video- helpful as i try to get a new workflow going
