Buckethead is the best guitar player alive today. No one else combines technical prowess, raw speed, creativity, and compositional skill the way Buckethead can. Others may best him in one area, but no one has the complete package he does. Those that can play faster wouldn't be able to conceptualize a song this intricate and progressive; it would just be a grindcore shred of notes. Even when Buckethead plays at high speed he can still harmonize and adjust timbre of each note accordingly to fit the song. Its incredible what he does.
As previously mentioned, the closes to this is The Dragons of Eden - utterly amazing album. After that, check out Colma, Electric Tears, A Real Diamond in the Rough, Shadows Between the Sky, Captain EO's Voyage and I'd give Peppers Ghost a shot too. Welcome to musical heaven :)
My Favorite buckethead album. The next deep space probe we launch out into the cosmos should play Population Overide on a continous loop. That will get there attention.
i want this buckethead album a lot, and they dont have it on itunes :(, ........ lets face it, not all of bucketheads albums are that great, but this one is amazing.
Buckethead you change the way life looks in my eyes. You make it a better place, and if it wasn't for you, i don't know how life was going to be, probably would have been the most devastating thing. I have to meet you and shake hands with you one day
god Population Override, Electric tears, peppers ghost, colma, Decoding the tomb of bansheebot, are like His MOST bad ass albums i love them i can listen to them over and over agian and not loss intrest Pop override is the trippest i think
@theycallmejpj well I am mostly a metal fan so XD but I think you would like an album like, A real diamond in the rough, shadows between the sky, and I extremely recommend the dragons of eden. Still I will recommend you check out his "metal" albums, most of them are extremely good because buckethead knows how to balance pure aggression with very beautiful parts. like the song final wars on the brilliant elephant mans alarm clock. Also thanks for watching the video and commenting. have a nice day
make sure to listen to "Look Up There", the album only has 2 songs and one is 21 min long but it is totally worth it.. Look Up There from the same name album is definitely one of his greatest songs.
@theycallmejpj Without a shadow of a doubt you should get Electric Tears if you like the slow melancholy songs. Even know you dont like like the metal stuff i would also reccomend that you pick up Crime Slunk Scene and I just checked out A Real diamond in the Rough its pretty F'ing amazing. Sounds like you would be drawn to songs such as Big D's Touch and Padmasana those are two songs off the reccomended cds.
If no one's suggested it yet, DEFINITELY look into the Colma and Electric Tears albums. I've fallen asleep to the latter nearly every night for the last 4 or 5 years.
@theycallmejpj You could check out Electric Tears or, and this album is more like Population Override, Anatomize by Buckethead's other band Thanatopsis(it's a really great album, so you should check it out regardless).
love this...really heart felt ...if you want serious shredding... yngewie malmsteen - watch anything by him.....rediculous.... there are others but check him out for sure
@theycallmejpj Hi there, check out titles of songs like Fractal Shadows, Oishii, Frozen Ghost (or Blue Marbles Moon, same song as they were named by fans) off the In Search of the (ISOT) CD.
@navebucketdude cheers man, appreciate it, i will try and check those out. i tried listening to a few tunes from electric tears but i don't like the sparse arrangements as much. maybe a better question would be what is buckethead's funkiest album..?
@theycallmejpj look up insearchofthe... its full of everything thats never been heard before, much too seek from that collection, its a album collection by the way :D
okay, i am officially turned on to buckethead music! my gf bought me this CD yesterday for my birthday. i had heard some of his tunes before, but i'm not a big metal fan. but this album is absolutely amazing, so i'm looking for peeps to recommend me another purchase :) like i said, not too keen on metal stuff, and i've heard some stuff from i believe it's called "colma" which was okay, i enjoy the melancholic stuff but i didn't think as an album it was very dynamic which CD shud i get?
Well, there is a drum but it's very subtle and it only plays one hit at only one point in the song. At least, I think it's a drum. Although it's completely possible that it might just be him slapping his acoustic guitar.
@theycallmejpj Your gf introduced you to Buckethead? MARRY HER! I recommend the album Crime Slunk Scene btw. Contains songs such as Soothsayer, King James, The Fairy And The Devil, just to name my favourites.
hey navebucketdude I was wondering if you had anything that sounded like "Machete" off the album colma?? I love that song and want more like it!! since it sounds like you have a vast knowledge of bucket I figured you might know a song or two. thanks!
Good. If you say BH is not a good guitarist, I will not argue with you. His music is not very musically complex. However, from an artistic point of view he is below none other.
@navebucketdude Erm, my channel isn't good enough to get traffic on it... just got a few friends and some people interested in classical lieder. I don't know enough about youtube anyway. Just wanted some help on identifying some track I heard at a pub one night, that's all! Do you know what band/song it is? cause I've been looking for ages...
@BombayAGoGo i think you misread me dude, i said i got this album and i think it's fantastic, looking for more buckethead recommendations, but not something "metal" or shred etc =)

Word. My three all time greatest guitar players/ influences: Buckethead, David Gilmour and Eddie Hazel
@@Schwertfisch13 Those are awesome influences!!
Absolutely amazing. What's even better is most of this album was written on the fly, just jamming. So beautiful.
13 years later. A lot has changed. But listening to this hasn't.
@@tribblefluffer Same
@@tribblefluffer Damn right bro!
I've been a BH fan for quite a while, but I'm still finding this endless stream of good albums by him. What a criminally underrated musician.
Welcome to musical heaven :)
this album was a dedication to the great vinyls of the 60s and 70s
This song hits different after all these years
Axl simply didn't deserve to have Buckethead in his band
Michał Pacholski buckethead doesn't need Guns n' roses
My Favorite buckethead album. The next deep space probe we launch out into the cosmos should play Population Overide on a continous loop. That will get there attention.
i think he is THE greatest guitar player of all time
For me, this is the best of all buckethead's songs.
esta cancion es la ostia, me encanta!! (this song its amazing, i love this)
un saludo deste España
i want this buckethead album a lot, and they dont have it on itunes :(, ........ lets face it, not all of bucketheads albums are that great, but this one is amazing.
one of the greatest guitar players of all time!
fucking ridiculously good music man that just blew my mind

He won't read your comment
go to his show. get in the front. you could probably get a toy, exchange with him a note or toy or w.e u want to give him
Travis Dickerson carried this for all I love buckethead. He would probably agree but it took both of them to make it
@Pianomantodd1 thanks. worked like a charm. This is one of his best albums, I can't believe its not in every CD store and on iTunes.
How do I talk to these geniuses about how they created this masterpiece?
Message them or maybe email them? Buckethead will probably be really hard to actually contact lol
You have to turn into a chicken and communicate in their language with buckethead
Travis Dickerson does an amazing job on this song. Him and Buckethead really make a great team.
god Population Override, Electric tears, peppers ghost, colma, Decoding the tomb of bansheebot, are like His MOST bad ass albums i love them i can listen to them over and over agian and not loss intrest Pop override is the trippest i think
bucket head one of my favourite guitarist

Comparing a jazz rock album to a videogame soundtrack now thats likable.
You HAVE TO buy the thanatopsis albums Axiology and Anatomize! You´ll love them.
def one of Buckethead's top 5 creations
Such a good song!
make sure to listen to "Look Up There", the album only has 2 songs and one is 21 min long but it is totally worth it.. Look Up There from the same name album is definitely one of his greatest songs.
Ive just became aware of this album like yesterday, been creamin since!!
This is amazing from a Randy Rhoads, George Lynch, Satch fan!
Great tunes - good feelings
The best musical accompaniment to the extinction of the human race ever.
hell yeah.

They are referring to his more shred-like albums, such as Island of Lost Minds, Crime Slunk Scene, Cuckoo Clocks of Hell and others like those.
I think he means the general pentatonic rock sound that hundreds of guitarists had in the 80s e.g. Slash.
Am I crazy or is this musician from another dimension?
Your not crazy.
@@gypana i thought so
He's of every dimension.
@Cnote384 pinch face is one of the best drummers i have ever heard in my life he easily makes it in my top 5 drummers.
Electric Tears, and Electric Sea. They are his chill out albums.
6:06 is the most beautiful sound in the universe.

Travis Dickerson is on keys, right? Must bow down
i have this album... buckethead with a keyboardist is out of this world.
well it really reminded me of mvc2s main theme aswell :D i love it though
and you know the "shredshredshred" is Travis Dickerson on the keyboard right?
Yeah, Travis is in it!
I have put my girlfriend onto Heavy Metal and Prog Metal because of this album
Bucket I bloody love you man \m/

if a song could capture the epicness of life on a planet and then it dying out...itd be this song.
and banjo, bass, and a shitload of other stuff.
if you liked "Population Override" you should check out "Thanatopsis"- Travis Dickerson and Bucket together again! thumbs up so people can see!
this albums funk is funking genious!!
Elephant man's alarm clock is my favorite.
dude you just made michael jackson look good. how could you! ! !
gilbert taught bucket.

a synthesizer and buckethead only uses his guitar on a funk-like tune and some distortion from the amp
@zl2171 lol sound can not travel in space so it would be pointless.
@WeSTsiDeRuLeZ217 Too many humans is amazing too...
yeah that part rocks man!!! XD epic!!!
gilbert taught buckethead then buckethead surpassed him
Im sorry for your loss
@navebucketdude send it as a constantly playing radio transmission, light travels in space.

@navebucketdude bucketheads music can travel in space...the laws of physics do not apply here
@secretagentsteve3 A Real Diamond in the Rough is his best by far, if you haven't heard it yet.
if you have a request for a song tell me i have most of the buckethead cds or i can buy it
I wonder if you could still say that nowadays ; )
@BombayAGoGo i think you misread me dude, i said i got this album and i think it's fantastic, looking for more buckethead recommendations, but not something "metal" or shred etc =)
we've noticed :P
@RealParadoxBlues what about jimi hendrix???
Is there a record of this song live or any other from the Population Override album?
hey say what you wantabout PInchface but he was awesome in this song.
@theycallmejpj Check out Decoding the Tomb of the Bansheebot
If you are still looking i can suggest a few. I own all of his studio work (a good 50 or so albums) so i can probably help you out.
@navebucketdude bucket or bernie worrell?
thats one giant part lol xD
buckethead cds are hard to get but you can order his cds at tdrsmusic . com
@hutnon the song Colma gave me chiils its so creepy
Im getting that early Al di meola like vibe.
I was kind of feeling John Tropea and a little bit of Eumir Deodato on keyboards early on .
@MACONN42 thanks man, appreciate it
