My dad had a 63 Starfire 330 ultra compression four barrel four speed. It was black with red interior. That was around 75 and was one of my favorite car he owned. It would move!!

If they would bring back this particular style 62 Oldsmobile Starfire back I would go to the dealership and by one. But GM would probably have to make some modifications on it the car looks nice Thank You for posting.
one of my FAVORITE styled OLDSMOBILES for sure! The unique front end, side trim, tail lights and usually painted to match body wheel covers make this so special. Then add this great interior with the buckets and console and the 345HP High compression engine and someone is going to have a a great car.
I love these old Oldsmobile's, I think the design engineers had a lot of fun designing these cars. A time that is gone forever. Today's cars all look basically the same, like an egg. Great video as always. You never rush a video and I love that.
With ultra high compression.!...10.25:1...330hp...5hp over the 10:1 394ci...sure won't like the fuel we get at the pump today. The green trim just screams 60's...Good stuff Jeff.
Airports sell the proper Petro for American classics. NOT environmentally friendly. Airplanes burn alot of fuel. All Airplanes. This car would not be driving everyday. It's nessisary as to not damage the valves, and for performance.

My absolute favorite car EVER was a 1962 Starfire! Dad had one in 'Pacific Mist Metallic" that was incredible. I got to back it out of the garage so Mom could take me to school. I got chewed out more than once for the black marks outside the garage! Later, when they had it in Memphis, TN when my brother was at St. Jude's, the engine burned up. Dad loved that car so our local (ElDorado, AR) Olds dealership installed a brand new Rocket 455 from 1969 into it! OMG ! That thing was immense! I thought i remembered a Vacuum gauge in the console though, not a Tach. The console was cool too! Brushed Aluminum. Those side panels were brushed aluminum. Before that car we had the F-85 which was it's predecessor. I bet I have pictures of the Starfire in my parents boxes of pictures.

At 2:15, you'll notice an "S" in the AT gearshift indicator. It stands for "superdrive". You may also notice at 1:58 that there are both "hot" and "cold" dash lights above the speedometer. The "cold" light would glow green at startup, and flicker out only when the engine is warmed up. Of course, the "hot" light would glow red only if the car overheats.
My Dad had a '58 Olds, 371 with a 4 barrel. If I remember correctly, the 'S' you mention downshifted the 4-speed tranny to 3rd gear for power; 4th gear was more of an overdrive ration. He sold that car right before I got my driver's license. 😥
They all had extreme amount of trim....Always wanted one...They all had dual exhaust floor shift and 4 barrel carb.. The speedometers had Green, yellow, and red bar instead of a needle..From 0-35 it was green, 35-65 yellow , 65-120 it was red..Cadillac of oldsmobiles.
I had that car in 1962 in black convertible it was a very sharp car with glass packs also a nice feature was a speed warning on the speedometer you can set it at a speed you don't want to exceed I am sorry to say it was junk transmission always going out and many other issues but it looked great Richard in the tropics

By 1967 GM interiors became bland plastic garbage due to safety and cost cutting. Late 50's through '65 interiors were stunning on most cars. Check out the 1960 Buick Invicta interior.
I have a similar car in 100 pieces here in Napa. I'd like to find someone to put it back together or sell it. Frame off restoration of the chasse. lots of chrome is complete and the engine was rebuilt. The Car has been a Napa car all it's life but it outlived it's owner. Any recommendations on who could finish the job would be welcomed.

Notice that there is an S for super and that reverse is at the bottom of the pattern. A local man here had a burgundy version and as a kid it had the nicest interior of any car I had seen. They were fast as well.

ZIGgassedUP The lack of lead in the fuel hurts the exhaust valve seats for sure.
It'll Run fine on premium...10.25 to 1 is not that high.... valve seat recession is a real issue though

Growing up my neighbor had one of these and i always liked the body style. Hers was burgundy met. Sweet cruiser!
