Brings back a lot of memories. My dad had a 2 door version which he loved. Same color Green, only the top was a dark Green.. Again, brings back memories, thanks.
Beautiful example of an Oldsmobile Rocket . These cars from the period 1949 to 1953 are so good looking , each Make with it's own interesting detail . The big Olds 98 is impressive without being so large as to be a problem in today's traffic.
I couldn't agree more, it was a great era in automotive design. I'll have a video of a 1950 Mercury coming up soon as well. Both are beautiful cars in their own way.
This is a beautiful example of the Olds of the day. I had a '49 98 that I bought when I was in high school. I paid $49 for it. What fun with that car. Same beautiful dash and awesome ride.
that prism thing is a nifty idea, i notice I can't even see lights in my car with just the sun visor down. they thought of all sorts of crazy stuff back in the 50's. very cool car!
These walk throughs at the sheds, are still my favorite part of your YT Channel. This 51 Olds my have been built at the Lansing, Michigan plant. • Cheers from The Detroit & Mackinac Railway 🚂
It's funny how little horsepower some old cars make from a v8 my dads car is a 2.0 diesel 4 cylinder and it makes 180 horsepower XD. But these cars are for looks not speed and power though
Love it. My parents had one when I was very young. Why were the engines so noisy back then even with quiet mufflers compared to the quiet smooth engines today?
During some model years of the 1950s & 60s, the Olds 98 was quite close in size, power, and appointments to the Buick Roadmaster/Electra and Cadillac Series 62. In other years, the 98 was more noticeably a notch down from from its more expensive GM stable mates. I would say the 1950 & '51 98s fall in the latter category. For those 2 years, the 98 4dr used the GM "B" body shell, which it shared with the lower-end Cadillac Series 61, as well as certain smaller variations of the Roadmaster & Super. Same width as the bigger, C body Buicks and Caddys, but shorter overall length/wheelbase, and perhaps a somewhat more austere standard interior.
I don't know why you're surprised Oldsmobile and Buick were the Pinnacle of general motors quality Cadillac was just the company that charged more because of its name
Nice example of a 51. I have a 53 88 that i love Its funny too because these cars were so well made and built to last, but back then people could afford to get a new car every 2-3 years. Now adays cars are just throw aways but people have to keep them for longer because they are so expensive
Cars were heavier back then, but cars nowadays actually last longer. My 1996 Chevrolet Astro van is still going strong with 190k miles on the odometer. Cars built in the 1950s didn't last half as long.

Stunning !
Wow with a back seat like that... no wonder there was a baby boom in that era😊
It definitely could have been a contributing factor :)
Cool.
Just bought one to restore. Love these classic beauties.

Those 54 abd 55 Olds were really nice cars. That was right around the time when the dowdy old designs began to disappear.
Beautiful original 65 year old car. I wish i looked that good, :-)
Glad you like it, thanks for taking a look! I'm not 65, but I still don't look that good :)

Wow what a beauty if she was still available I’d definitely be interested cause they don’t come this original 🤩❤️ awesome beautiful...!!!!
I'm probably wrong, but wasn't the Olds 98 considered a luxury car? Great looking car and great video!
Yes, it was definitely considered the top of the Oldsmobile line. Thanks for taking a look Don!
I thought so and you're welcome!
Yes, and it shared the same body style and was comparable in comfort and luxury to the Buick Roadmaster and Cadillac Series 62.

Interesting about that "Prism" on the dash. I didn't know that about GM. That was a first..👍
People added them to any car with the visor over the windshield.

Is it a 6 volt?
Yes, it's still the original 6 volt system.
