      Adam might have new irons in the bag next week lol!
      That said, I definitely think he's maximizing performance by utilizing all the designs within the lineup and imo more people should consider it!

    9:58 Over 100 sets of ZX7 on all tours, (PGA, Korn, LPGA, LIV, DP) including Adam Scott, Shane Lowry, Jason Day, JJ Spaun, Sepp Straka, Brooks Koepka, Lucas Glover, Camillo Villegas, Grace Kim, Hannah Green, Inbee Park, Ernie Els, Sam Ryder, Brandt Jobe, Larry Mize...and on and on. Glad you did this review, though. You always do classy reviews. I rely on your stuff.

      Really appreciate the support!
      ZX7's are great, just have to remember that I have them a bit weak in loft so when you pair that with the higher launch design/bigger head, they can get a bit too high launch in the shorter clubs.
      I'm also a bit shallower in terms of delivery, so I tend to produce relatively high laugh angles already.
      That said, at the stock 32* loft in the 7i, the head size and design is pretty much picture perfect for the loft!

      @@TheEquipmentJunkie The original ZX7 heads spin less than the MKii and also launch lower which is why you see it and not the MKii in more tour bags. Especially the higher speed guys. Being in my 40's now, having less flexibility, and working 60 hours a week has forced me into a more forgiving head like ZX7 vs the Forged Blade, but I have no trouble controlling flight or shape by going to this size head. In other brands, these were issues for me, plus many have that horrible hollow feel. Srixon knocked these out of the park IMO

    I am a mid-handicap player, one thing I don't like about the "game improvement " irons is the offset, it is just too much! any thoughts on that? any recommendations? Thanks!

    • @lkae4
      @lkae4 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Vega VSC has the least offset of any game improvement iron I've seen. Mizuno MP 245 are also minimal offset.

    • @TheEquipmentJunkie
      @TheEquipmentJunkie  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hey!
      I would say the best thing you could do in that scenario is try to find the strongest lofted game improvement irons you can and then bend them a few degrees weak to reduce the offset and hit the carry distances/land angles you are looking for.
      Vijay Singh and a few other tour players actually bend all of their irons a full club weak to reduce offset. So instead of playing say a traditional 4i-PW, they play 3i-9i bent a club weak.
      Something to note though, you will likely need to find a forged set of Game Improvement irons as cast clubs can be tough to bend. Unfortunately I'm not sure which OEM's make forged GI clubs, so may take a bit of research!

    Thank you for taking the time to review these clubs ... excellent analysis .. .I noticed with ZX5's it seemed it was easier for you to fade the ball ... did you notice that too? Thanks for sharing! [You should have more subscribers for these excellent reviews ...add some hash tags in the title]

    • @TheEquipmentJunkie
      @TheEquipmentJunkie  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thanks for taking the time to comment and support the channel, I really appreciate it!
      I personally wouldn't say the ZX5's are easier to fade, but a lot of curving/flighting of the golf ball just comes from face/path, then how good the strike is and in-turn the control over spin.
      That said, unfortunately I am not a robot so sometimes certain shots curve more than others lol!
      What I can say is offset does have a relatively large impact on face closure, so anything with less offset will tend to be more right bound as opposed to something with less offset; And if you compare the ZX5's I used (bent weak in loft which reduces offset) to the stock lofts with more offset, they would likely be more right biased.
      Hope that helps!

      If you’re a pretty good iron striker then I’d say yes. The ZX7 and ZX5 look very similar at address but personally I thought the forgiveness drop is noticeable.

    • @TheEquipmentJunkie
      @TheEquipmentJunkie  14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Really depends on how consistent you are/what you are looking for in terms of performance.
      Something you could definitely do is order both a ZX5 and ZX7 7 iron and test them side by side to see which works best. Then build your combo set based off that.

    Great review...many golfers will not purchase these as they are marketed heavily to merge and be bought alongside the Cleveland family of wedges under the Dunlop Sports brand umbrella...there are more seamless blends into the wedges from other leading manufacturers like Callaway or Tilteist or Ping...many golfers also want the same brand in their wedges. I personally love the Cleveland wedges especially the tour rack raw...and it be noted that Roger Cleveland designs the Callaway wedges. This video is about feel and aesthetics ...and I suppose its where your loyalty lies...with brand or feel...if i personally had to build a set i'd go Callaway AI SMOKE triple diamond driver and 3 wood, irons Srixon Z - Forged II 3 - PW, Srixon zx7 mk II gap wedge and then wedges will be 54 and 60 degree cleveland raw tour rack 6. all kbs shafts and denali blue shafts in the woods...rounded out by the Wilson Staff Model 8802 putter. You'll be hard pressed to come up with a better set build than this.
