    Personally I tend to go mud heavy mostly because I like the look of the big gnarly tires. However, with the Tayga twins and any other vehicle that can use them, I stick with the balloon tires purely because of stability. Tayga twins are perfect for the high-range gearbox since you don't want to use L+ due to the excessive wheelsman anyways. You can usually get those up into H pretty quick and rip around the map fast and that's when you will need that extra stability. In the case of the Bandit, I think the balloon tires are the only real viable option for that Tipmaster 9000.

      For trucks like the bandit, yea those imho are needed for balance properties for sure.

    • @Paladwyn
      @Paladwyn ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@NProvince One thing I've been shifting pretty heavy to is the use of highrange gearboxes. You hear about them, you see people using them and some videos explaining in a basic format of what it is.
      But I haven't seen videos showing exactly what to expect with them. Which trucks are good and which ones aren't, how to use it the most effective under what conditions and just how the performance of the vehicle changes.
      Like, for example, on asphalt when you're in auto you can feel the vehicle wanting to slip all over the road, fishtail and just have a hard time (especially in towns in Ontario because the roads there are made of ice it seems), but dropping to H may lower your speed but the vehicle balances itself that you can control it much easier.
      Tayga and Azov 5319 feel as if they were made for highrange. Heck, the Loadstar is able to almost go from a dead stop to H because of its torque.
      Just an in-depth analysis of the highrange gearboxes would be awesome for those people that feel wary about using them.

    • @vladvulcan
      @vladvulcan ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@Paladwynpretty much the answer is simple. If you have good PtW rating, you should use highrange. If you have always on difflock or no difflock at all - you should use highrange (because there's no benefit in having 3 low gears anyway). Offroad is only viable for slow trucks with switchable difflock, or the ones you do heavy work with (logging and such).

    • @Paladwyn
      @Paladwyn ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@vladvulcan That's pretty much it as well, and the general rule I tend to go with.
      There's just a lot of people I've talked to who don't use it because they have the wrong idea of it.
      They are expecting something different than what it is.

    Covered a good portion of my tire gripes in my little rant list I alluded to in a previous comment, great topic and thanks for the video! There are so many options that are so close together for overall performance.
    Ive been a little taken aback by how much of a mystery tires and tire performance is to a huge portion of the SR communities since I started playing and how willing a lot of people are to just say "Get the TMHS and forget about everything else" or "Western trucks have crap tires", (Or even tell you youre doing it horribly wrong if they see OHSII in one of your screenshots) Especially since the initial reddit post HumanHighlighter based his video on is over 2 years old IIRC. You can create some really funny results messing with width, softness and radius offsets in the xml's. Like highway tires that can just rip through "super mud" even with a mud friction value of 0.2... It does seem these values are applied first and then the friction values are modifiers on top of these that then get compared to the friction value your truck/trailers/load is generating on a given terrain type.

  • @justinlynch3
    @justinlynch3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    I've used All Terrain, Offroad, chains and mud. When allowed, I go with mud tires.
    I'm someone who usually wants to use the winch as little as I can and get vehicles to places under their own power, after all we are playing Snow Runner, not Winch Runner. While UOD II and OHD I are good, they can get stuck in severe enough conditions. Meanwhile even if it's just a slow crawl, mud tires tend to keep you always moving.
    Now in the vast majority of places you can run offroad tires, carry more speed in shallow-moderate condition, and just fling out winches and winch yourself though deep mud and snow way faster then just crawling with mud tires in Medium Low or Low Minus. So objectively offroad tires are better.
    But I myself just don't want to play the game that way. Mud tires might be slower then winching, but I like their ability to at least keep you moving. They just suit what I personally want out of the game.
    So for me what tire is faster really isn't what matters.

    • @NProvince
      @NProvince  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Likewise for me its not whats faster, but what tailors to my gameplay style

    • @justinlynch3
      @justinlynch3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@NProvince Generally I run TMHS I, AMSH I, MSH II, DMSH I, UOD II, OHD I, default tires on K-700, double tires on K-7M.
      I have used the OHD II on the P12 before, there was a point in time I wanted to match a vehicles wheels to their spare tire design, though I gave up on that as the F-750, Loadstar, Voron-D and others use highway tires as their spares, which while I want to get vehicles largely places under their own power, I don't want to make the game THAT brutal on myself running highway tires. lol
      But yeah the P12 did do well with the OHD II, so I agree they are a good tire.
      I kinda wonder if UOD III acts as a proper tire as well. In my experience I've found UOD III to get stuck somewhat easily in mud (though I'd still say they are better then UOD I), but I've used them in winter maps, pretty sure it was one of the harder ones to like Kola, think I had them on the 750 at the time. And they didn't feel they did too badly honestly.

      If offroad tires are "objectively" better then why use mudtires what so ever then? Weird how mud tires dont need a winch to get to places but offroad do but offroad is better? Yea no they arent lmfao rofl you just stated your subjective opinion as objective fact, dont confuse the two, good luck with those offroad tires in any russian region what so ever without a winch

    I agree that the difference between performance of tires is sort of a moot point at the top end and choosing tries to suit the truck more is better, instead of trying to min max the tire stats basically.
    For example the Dan and Boar are by far the worst two trucks for digging there front wheels, so on those two i use a the MHS 3's ( thanks to mod which adds extra base game and dlc tire options to trucks) which helps to stop the front end from plunging in and having to either back up or plough through.

    • @NProvince
      @NProvince  ปีที่แล้ว

      Another good way to mitigate plunging front heavy vehicles is with weight on rear axle. In the DANs case, the active suspension in combo with a multipurpose addon or low saddle lowers that occurance

    Form my personal experience, I prefer to use ballon and large mud tires on snow or when the truck is too unstable to use single front offroad tires. I avoid to use them in water and deep swamps since they lose too much friction and you need to go very slow. In those cases I prefer to just use trucks with massive mud tires since they will never get their frames under the mud/water. For all the rest I prefer to use Offroad tires.

    I don't enjoy the "mud bogging" part of the game, even at best. I pick things more for the stability and traction in the terrain I actually enjoy, tacky rugged dirt roads and off-roading. The fat mud tires generally provide the best foundation for stability from their width so I usually use them, but at the same time they can be annoying on some terrain, and terrible and fragile on paved roads.

    One thing you didn't mention about dual tires, they have twice the weight of single tires.
    Suspension stiffness is calculated from tire weight. Mount a heavy addon like fuel tank and swap between TMHS and OHD, or use the Boar which can have medium and heavy tires to see the difference tire weight makes.

    • @NProvince
      @NProvince  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So thats actually not true. The MHS sets weight are the same as OHDs. However the example for the Boar is valid because it has 100kg UODs and then the 200kg OHDs. Also the TMHS are the same weight as OHDs. Concerning weight and grip; the devs have told me that increased weight is increased grip to a certain point. With the stiffness calculation regarding tires; Im not familiar. Also I think the whole tires/grip conversation is already muli faceted so in essence the statement "More weight more grip; to a certain point" is a good one to leave it at in my humblest opinion. If this is concerning rear mass scale I think its gonna confuse alot of folks. This is partly why i think leaving this stuff out is ok as well

      Well, the question is, what do we expect from tires? Most offroad and mud tires can cover most terrain with a time of +/- 5%? Maybe 10%. In my opinion, this is not that important, what matters is when you accidentally get stuck in a place where there is no place for a winch. Then a better dirty or width value will not help. My point is that time should not be an indicator of a good tire. Similarly, tire tests should be carried out with a load (You are one of the few who took such a test.), a good logistician does not drive empty, especially on mud.

      May change this, for right now there just needs to be much more information on thorough looks at these tires compared to the ones touched on here.

      @@NProvince yes, but there is always human curiosity 😅 it would be nice to see 3rd time with every truck you've checked and see how the new tires compare to old ones. But still, thank you for that info! 😃

      @NProvince  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really sure what you mean. I’ve made 3 videos so far. If you’re meaning to check every truck in the game; I don’t know a TH-camr who would spend 10 hours on a video to run every single truck in the game through tires and show each trial as a edited video. I think the evidence is already in about tires from 3 videos hundreds of hours and also other testers on this same thing. Glad you enjoyed the video :)

    • @Tytus01UNIT
      @Tytus01UNIT ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NProvince Nah, sorry no, I didn't mean to run it with all even with taygas that you have already used. But still, the evidence is there - I get it. But I'm still unsure if old tires are always better for trucks. TaygaB and Mack that I use seem to benefit from new tires. Plus for users who doesn't see real numbers, they see average/excellent/excellent rating with new tires. Old mud tires were poor/excellent/exelent, so it is clear for normal users to always use DLC tires.

    • @NProvince
      @NProvince  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I see what you mean. So I believe on the video I kinda broke it down to a blanket statement. The new JATs are a good option. The narrow tires and old tires that were great are still up top, but in terms of the need to stay up with balance and not sinking the JATs are really good for this especially the doubles. I hope that kinda answers your question

    Well, these results sure are confusing. With 1x metal beams, the MHS 2 are better than the TMHS 1, but are slightly worse than the OHD 1 on the Voron Grad. The thing is, if we use the time on the Tayga 6436, the MHS 2 are better than the OHD 1, which is confusing. Are they better or are they worse? And with 2x metal beams, the MHS 2 have no chance againts the TMHS 1, even tho they are better with only 1x metal beams. As for the OHD 1, again, it is vastly diferent from truck to truck. On the Voron Grad, the OHD 1 didnt even make it, but on the Tayga 6436 they were the best ones. Conducting my own test using the container delivery challenge in Taymyr, the OHD 1 we behind the MHS 2, but so were the TMHS 1 (I used the same route for both, including dirt and a little bit of mud, with 1 cargo container on sideboard bed as cargo) so my pick would be the MHS 2. This video left me more confused than clarified honestly, because the results very so much from truck to truck and cargo amount. Overall it seems like the MH2 are the best but the TMHS 1 are better for pulling heavy loads, and even tho the OHD 1 got a better time, on some trucks they get DNF and per my experience I got stuck in Island Lake pulling an unloaded sideboard semi trailer using the OHD 1. So in conclusion, I wont use the OHD 1 but rather the MH2 for no/"light" loads and the TMHS for heavy loads. Sorry this is so long lol

    For me nowadays THMS is somewhat meh. Yeah, I know it's blasphemy, because that tire was with ous from Spintires, so the very beginning, but while in Spintires it was a God, here it's a slow floaty boi. Sure I can get trough everything, but I cant put it in a higher gear, because it's just spins and wont go trough the mud and the road efficiency is low so you cant really push it. At least OHD1 and OHS2 you have moments when you can put it into high gear or even auto amd that's why it's been a while since I used the Tayga. Good truck, but a tad bit monotone for me

    • @NProvince
      @NProvince  ปีที่แล้ว

      Even with these new tire sets that just hit the game, I wouldn’t be surprised if the OHD1 and OHS2 still performed better or as good as the new tires. Hoping they do. Yea the TMHS are really just floatations that crawl through at a low speed.

    This game is as arcade as it gets. There is a huge misconception, that this is a simulator, probably because most people have never driver off road IRL. Those Tayga tires would dominate all other tires in the game, aside from the tractor style mud tires with the real deep groves / aggressive patterns. Instead you get ridiculous stuff like the P16 tires having more dirt and mud traction than the Tayga tires.

    oh look I finally unlocked the mud tires it should be easier now
    nope its actually worse you should stick with offroad tires they are better than mud tires in mud.
    really makes no sense for the average player either have mud tires and be better than offroad tires in mud or dont

      If you watch my video on the JAT tire review, I kinda try and hammer down the use case for wide mud tires and why off-road tires are winning more under certain circumstances. It’s similar to explanation on this video, but shows more testing with head addons. I definitely know what you mean though. It can be confusing. This is why I wanted to make a series of videos like this starting with MudRunnin tips, this video and the JAT tire review

    Off course, The Best are those on pacifics, but that we can NOT. Have them, so... Which one? Well, depends, The devs make The game to be a challenge, so everything you do in game is a challenge, from what you choose for The task /contract /whatever you do, sooo.. Depends of terrain, where you go? Deep Mud? Kirovetz double mud tires are The Best, they can go through ice of amur easy.. Than Zikz 605r tires
    But Grip is favor by weight, more weight more grip, so all drive through deep mud is a matematic formula which include weight, tires number (2 for mud, 1,9 for off road), tire dimension, engine torque, numbers of tires wich pull The vehicle(chevy scout vs tatarin)
    Awd on, diff lock on, if The tires are double like pacific, they even add more stability, check voron d,
    Well, some tires are... Special, like tayga, are perfect for don s5, where you havea mix of mud, roots, rocks, absorb some how shocks...
    Thats why when you drive on asphalt, they don't ofer stability, so That s why i prefer for tayga on easy maps MHS 2 or 3...i think.. 😊
    Than are TATRA. Tires, one of The Best for mud, have 3,5, zikz 605r 2,7 but zikz 605r are bigger in diametre, so...
    For off road, like rocks or dirt, i would go for MHS 3 or 4, like CAT from yukon have...
    So depends where you go... 😊

      I think you're brining in information that I didn't wish to get into. Simply put, the video was based on truck tires that are generally found on most vehicles in the game. Alot of your examples are custom tires and/or super heavy weight tires which was left out strategically because in those cases they pretty much only have those super heavy tire options to use and/or a custom tire and we all know the stats for them. AThis was also make to reference my first video mentioned. Super heavy/custom tires are by a case by case evaluation. Covering every single tire would take quite some time
