debating if I should go for Yellowfin or to wait for the yellowtail, can you give a honest review of the fight of the yellowfin? also what is the limit for yellowfin?@@Dirty.Hookers
Anthony Graeber limit for yellowfin I’m Mexican waters is 5 per person. 10 per person in US waters. They’re both very unique fish to target. If you’ve never fished tuna, I’d say it’s a must target at least once! They only show up for a short time frame of the year during the summer. Drag ripping, head shakes, and hard tail thumps. Such a blast! Yellowtail, you can wait pretty much till they go wide open through out the year. Honestly probably is my favorite fish to catch, but I have more sentimental feelings towards yellowtail. They don’t pull as much drag as tuna, but they have just straight power behind them! I honestly think yellowtail are our hardest fighting fish out here on the west coast. They just dog you and pull the entire fight to the boat and they never wanna give up
Can someone inform the Old Man of the Little Guy that the kid needs to be in a PFD....at all times while onboard a moving vessel. Yep, it’s actually a Law, age 12 and younger. This was hard to watch in one major way being that the Lil Guy was wearing those XtraTuffs... and we Sportboat anglers all know how fast those puppies will take an adult under... once you hit the water!!! The fishing looked to have been awesome, congrats on picking a solid SoCal charter.
BigDukeX I actually didn’t even know this was a law and never even thought about the deck boots taking someone down but they for sure would! Thanks for the heads up. Definitely was a fun day!
Dirty Hookers, the things we don’t know that can hurt us... always will. Not knocking the XtraTuffs, I’ve worn them for decades - and know from experience how to get out of them quickly. The more we educate our angler Bros, the better for everyone. See you at the rail 👊😎...
connor hofmann my favorite rod for the 400 is a Okuma SCTi XH 8’6”. Slings irons and still works well for jigging on the bottom Daiwa Proteus would also be a good pair for it. Or even the California Tri Helix from turners
Great video bro. I did 3 overnight tuna trips last year out of h&m landing on the old glory. We hit limits on yellowfin and skipjack and some bluefin in the mix. The grade on the yellowfin was amazing 20-45lbs. Hope to see you out on the water one day. Tight lines bro.
Jonathan N hell yeah! The grade of tuna this past season was awesome! I think my biggest was like 25lb yellowfin. Tried my luck at bluefin and tried really hard to get on some skipjack but I couldn’t stick either. Hopefully this season I’ll get one or the other!
Just went out on the pride on an over nighter. Secound annual RHI trip. First trip limits of yellow tail that was last year, today limited out on yellowfin. The Pride catches fish.
Teezus that was a Trinidad 20A which was a little over kill that day, but might be the right size for whats swimming around now. Rn the average yellowfin is about 25-30 lbs with 40-60 lb bluefin mixed in
Do you ever go from a larger size mono to a smaller size flouro? Ive never heard much conversation on the topic other then try to match the lb. I caught my yft on Monday with 30lb mono to 25 flouro
Don Gomez yeah I try to stay with in the 10 lb range. I do the same thing. 30 lb mono to 20 or 25 lb flouro. Matched size definitely results in the best outcome but in my personal opinion I feel the 10 lb range is ok. Any bigger, like if you go 40 mono to 20 flouro, is where the knot can have issues. I’ve still done it though.
Bro! I've been binge-watching your Channel trying to pick up tips and tricks along the way. I don't mean to be "that guy" but can you use inches or ounces when talking about jugs. The medium and large is not helping me order this stuff online.
B.A. Whosoever sorry I get wrapped up in trying to rush as much info in a short time frame and I always forget to go into specifics. I’ll try to remember from here on
Bret Archibald lexa 400 had 50 lb braid with a 60 yard top shot of 25 mono and a 6 ft leader of 20 flouro. Lexa 300 was full 20 lb mono with a 6 ft 20 lb flour leader
Alex Ranjbari lol I’m heading out to SD rn to fish on the Mission Belle with my regular charter group. I wanted to try and get a subscriber charter going this year, but I wanna get some more stuff figured out before I make that happen
Always fun to watch!
obet thanks brotha!
finally a tuna fishing vid
Anthony Graeber been waiting all summer to finally get on em! Such a fun trip

Anthony Graeber no problem. Always happy to help and give my opinions
HELL YEAH! I'm heading out next Thursday! Stoked
Brad Bush hell yeah! Good luck to you! What boat are you getting on?
@@Dirty.Hookers Getting on the Tomahawk. Did you get into any popper bites on this trip? I love throwing the popper for yellowfins
Brad Bush not this trip, but we tried. I went out again this past Saturday and one guy hooked one on popper
@@Dirty.Hookers Damnnn. That's too bad man. I love when the popper bite is on!
Brad Bush I’ve hooked landed acouple skippies on poppers and hooked acouple yellowfin but still haven’t landed my first real tune on a popper yet
8:52 All that progress lol
Hahaha. Those damn tuna like to shit on all the progress you make!
Your vids never disappoints dude!
SmokedOutHemi 2 thanks brotha! Very much appreciated! Love seeing you’re still an active viewer. You’re one of the OG subscribers!👊🏼
I know you said you were using smaller diameter line for finicky fish. But what size line would you use for jigs?
Isaiah Reyna if I were to use a colt sniper for finicky fish, I’d throw 30lb flouro. If I throw surface iron, I always use 40-50#
Dirty Hookers thanks man. Appreciate it. 👌
Curious, do they bleed 'em before bagging?
Ollie South the deckhands bleed them and stick a tuna spike through their main artery and then throw them down in the cooling tank.

Dope footage!
Michael Navales thanks brotha!
What calstar rod is paired with the Trinidad
girabaldy tasty the GFDH 900. Love that rod!
what kind of rod would you pair with the lexa 400? need some help
connor hofmann my favorite rod for the 400 is a Okuma SCTi XH 8’6”.
Slings irons and still works well for jigging on the bottom
Daiwa Proteus would also be a good pair for it.
Or even the California Tri Helix from turners
connor hofmann Check out Shimano Terez, for a Lexa 400 a medium heavy would be perfect.

Jonathan N fingers crossed!
Good work got my limit last week
Patrick Duncan Jr. thanks man. And hell Yeah good for you!
I know you can chuck the irons, how were the live bait casting skills?
sardis11165 on bait casters, like 30 yards. With a conventional, maybe 10-15 yards, 20 on a good cast.
Slowly becoming a legend, Ray. This channel is gonna blow up...
Sandy Collora thanks man. Much appreciated!
I really hope so. The dream is to quit the day job lol
No! I needed to see the ice rod fish! 😂
RuggedSportsmen lake pacific ice fishing lol

javE Chispas thanks man!
Btw...your advice helped me land an 70 bluefin two months ago...wish I could show you the picture
rick h fricken awesome! Congrats! Hopefully one day I’ll get one that big!
What size trinidad do you use to flyline?
Teezus that was a Trinidad 20A which was a little over kill that day, but might be the right size for whats swimming around now.
Rn the average yellowfin is about 25-30 lbs with 40-60 lb bluefin mixed in
Great day of fishing right there! Looks like a ball!
KsOutdoorSports was so much fun! Awesome group of people!
Was that straight mono on that old lexa?
Kman 831 yeah. Was deckhands set up. He had strait 20 lb mono with a 6 ft top shot of 20 lb flouro
What rod was that with the foam to cork paired with the Lexa?
Matt Thorp 13 fishing defy black. It’s a swimbait rod but I personally think swimbait rods work perfect for an inshore rod
Thank you, Dirty Hookers. It looks like a sweet rod! Keep up the solid work man!🤙
Hell yeah!! 🤙🏼
Heading out on the Sea Watch tomorrow morning, hoping for limits!!
chris balke hell yeah! Sea watch has been doing good lately. Lmk how you do!
Going out on the sea watch would my saltist and sea line 40 match up with these fish?
Just Fishing that’s more then enough line, you’ll be fine. We were using lexa 300s this day
Dirty Hookers For sure thanks man 🤟🏾🤙🏾

What rod was the lexa on?
Ryan Navarro lexa HD 400 was on the 13 Fishing black Defy rod. Lexa 300 I used towards the end of the video was on a shimano terimar
How did that handle feel on the lexa hd 🤣?? How’s the Komodo with the lexa hd handle?? Waiting to see it in action 🙌🏽
trix805 lexa handle on the Komodo felt great!
Komodo handle on the Lexa was terrible lol
nice vid still waitin for a full instructional on how to hydro dip jigs
Zom B I’ve made one video before. Just a bucket of water, spray paint the surface and drop your jig on top of the floating paint
